Thanks for the love and prayers my friend! You're absolutely right. I had the honor of blazing the way on the 1st rip rap train of the Blue Ridge Sub rebuild today. #clinchfieldstrong
Hi Kyle, Its great knowing your safe and well. The news that Csx are going to rebuild the Blue ridge subdivision is wonderful. I’m sure that there’s relief for the towns along the railroad. Along with the Csx Crews and their families.
I can't wait to be track side with you and the kids on the weekends once again. Its gonna take a while but it will happen. I appreciate everything you have helped us with the past several days can't thank you enough!
I am definitely praying for the Clinchfield to return back to its original form like it was not too long ago. Although it might take maybe at least a few months, the Clinchfield will return just like it was before the 27th. I am also praying and the most needed for the folks up in the areas of North Carolina and Tennessee who got hit very hard by the floods. Hope they have a great recovery and are staying safe. Praying for all to recover from it. I’m from Georgia and came to Marion this May. It’s really nice scenery on the Clinchfield and CSX will definitely repair the track. So one day, expect that portion from Spruce Pine-Erwin to come back. I got hit by Helene hard on the 27th and bunches of damage in East GA, but we are ok. Praying for all to recover from the Hurricane too. Stay safe and god bless you all.
Glad to hear you're OK as many of your friends and neighbors are not. Heard that Elon Musk is planning to connect you to Starlink until communications are restored. Trump requested it and Elon got things in motion.
@@GraceCook-g1l Thank you. Yes, I heard about the Starlink thing, although in East GA where I live doesn’t seem to be any yet, but I think they are coming with Starlinks. My house does not have damage, but there are tons of trees down here, and my grandparents got hit by 2 trees that are on their house. But we are ok, like I said. I hope we can all recover from Helene and the floods.
Love you too Kyle, and you do what you can - but most of all I'm lifting up prayers for everyone down there recovering from the storm. Great to see you bud!
Hi Kyle, I’m glad to see you. I have been watching the news and RUclips videos and I can’t believe what I’m seeing. I don’t know how bad it’s in your neighborhood all I can do is imagine. I have traveled in a lot of those areas . It’s just shocking to see. I hope things will start improving soon. My prayers go out for all you that are in need. Kyle stay safe out there. I knew you would reach out to us when you were able to. Thanks for sharing. Stay Safe. 😎😎 👍
My thoughts and prayers go out to your community, and everyone effected by this storm! I sure was worried about you. I love this channel and feel like I`m part of your area even though I have never been there. Stay safe my friend.❤🙏
I was checking every day hoping for a video to see that ya'll were ok. I'm glad you came though it alright and hopefully with very little damage. I'm extremely happy the Clinchfield will come back! There is a teacher from my area (Sanford) that is missing, last seen on Friday. It's not looking good for her. : (
Glad You and Your Wife are okay, rough hurricane, CSX and NS will prevail and the freight will roll again, thoughts and prayers for all of those Who have been affected.
Great vid and glad yr ok. I got to thinking about it yesterday, but that area is going to need a crazy amount of building materials, supplies and resources to recover from the destruction. I think thats probably when a railroad would be most needed.
The railroad is going to be very important for bringing materials to help fix the roads, interstates, and buildings and carry out all that debris. Rail yards and sidings will be turned into truck load/unload points.
Glad you are OK. I was a little worried about you and your family. I do think the Blue Ridge sub will be rebuilt, and they will be running trains soon. The NS line through Old Fort, though, that may be up in the air. That line is very circuitious, and it may not be worth the money and effort to reopen the line. We shall see though. Hopefully everything will be like it was.
Saw some video of work in the Old Fort area on NS. Lots of washouts.. the water created some "instant culverts" that will need work. (Possibly just punch thru a "real" culvert, but that will take engineering analysis.. Looks like the S line from Ashville to TN is going to need a real rebuild.. the French Broad was way over the track.... And every bridge (be it rail or highway) will need examination on pilings to make sure scour didn't weaken the bridge in any way. And of course, swapping out traction motors on the machines that were in Ashville swimming. Insurance coverage will help, but will NS rebuild the 40 miles or whatever of track for 4 trains a day? Unknown. Would like to see that... CSX may rebuild their line, but the bridges? Expensive....
@@tux_the_astronaut NS has told the state that they will upgrade the line to Asheville for a number (a decade or so ago) that was REALLY difficult to justify.. (Hundreds of millions to lengthen sidings, install signals, and remote switches, and all that other work... The state basically put that on hold. Now? If they can move all that to Amtrak, great. Other parts of the country would not be happy because they want any money available spent on high speed rail. Like from DC to Atlanta. I took the excursion back in the 90's that went from Spenser to Ashville to Spartanburg down the Saluda Grade and back to Spenser. IT was utterly spectacular.... But the Saluda grade is not possible... One daily trip to Ashville per day would require tens of thousands per day in subsidy to make that possible. Operating that you find it is state service.. Good for tourists.. but it is not a trip that will have 300 locals a day hopping on.
as for the CSX sub there may also be hope I heard that there are still some mines for quartz near spruce pine NC that are heavily needed for semiconductors in computer chips and the were transported via CSX Clinchfield sub. and apparently these mines are important enough that them being cutoff could cause hardware shortages so that could make restoring the CSX line a high priority
I'm glad to hear you think they will repair the clinch feild.i hate to say but I figure they'abandon it sinse it's basically not used.its hard to believe their is only 4 trains a day go thru their when we camped along that line in 1997 an I no they was 6 to 10 trains an hour thru their day an night it was one after another.i certainly hope you are right

Glade you doing ok by the way the m692 m693 652 and 653 coming thru here have not got video of them yet but saw the rerouted grain train trains
Good train videos
I hope you and the misses are doing well.
Glad to see you and your wife are doing got after all that mess over there
Noticed the RJ corman helicopter surveying damage, the day after.

NS has already begun repairing the S-Line from both ends. Ballast trains have already started staging on the east end to go west to dump rock
Even if its not worth it to NS NCDOT and Amtrak seem to have plans in using it for passenger service to Asheville so hopefully the line remains open
❤
Do you think the port strikes will effect the amount of trains you see go by?

My hope for the S line is that since its on Amtraks future plans for passenger service it will be rebuilt
