Just found your channel yesterday, when I was recommended your video about the "sequels to SEVEN", and instantly subscribed. Then I find this gem?!?! Wish I could subscribe million more times to adequately show my support. You're criminally underrated. Have you seen Spiffing Brit's video "RUclips is Broken"? He talks about flaws with the algorithm, in regards to community posts, that can get your channel seen by MILLIONS!!! Since he figured it out, he's been gaining about 100,000 subs a MONTH!!! He wanted to share it with other RUclipsrs, because unfortunately, big corporations are exploiting it, at the detriment of smaller channels. This is the link to the video if you're interested, and good luck, my friend. Anyway, hope you see this, and take advantage of this before RUclips fixes it. ruclips.net/video/Ej0Kijd4_4Q/видео.html
Wow. Interesting list. I’d say ok computer>kid a> in rainbows> moon pool > bends > amnesiac > tkol > hail to the thief > Pablo honey Solo efforts done by band members all fit somewhere in the middle for me.
I am a film school student, and this particular short film enthralled me so I looked up opinions on RUclips. I just want to say that this video is top tier quality, and you're doing a great job. If I could afford to be joining patreons, I would. But for now, you've got a new subscriber. I'm shocked you have less than 2 thousand. For the work you obviously put in, you deserve 2 million. You will get there.
Just the fact you got something out of this little video, and took the time to check out what we do is all we could ever ask for chief. Thank you. Here's hoping you like the rest of our stuff (I know that film school life all too well)
mate it's just about a guy who really likes going to work (Seriously this was an absolutely fantastic piece and obviously the best Radiohead album is King of Limbs)
All work and no play is JUST HOW THOM YORKE LIKES IT OKAY. Also, the reason 'Anima' is so great is because it's the most TKOL sounding thing he's done since, and as well all know, that album is perfect and if people don't like it well THAT'S ALSO FINE
This video needs more views! I honestly loved how concise but well-put this is, covering even the obscure symbolisms in the short film. I watch Anima every now and then, and it still doesn't fail to mesmerize me. Thom Yorke and Paul Thomas Anderson are geniuses.
Thank you so so much for checking out the channel, even if it's just for this video :) Here's hoping PTA puts out more short films between lengthier projects
Thom Yorke said that ANIMA is about Carl Jung's interpretation of sleep, dreams and the unconscious mind. Some people have said that it might be about the "women in a man" but Thom says his album has nothing to do with that particular idea by Jung.
Absolutely - he touches on much of that in his Zane Lowe interview with regards to the record. However, this is a reading of the film on it's own in something of a vacuum. It's a case of authorial intent and the power and disparity of interpretation, and while I routinely acknowledge they may or may not have directly intended the film companion piece to carry any of the meanings I posit, it's interesting to see what can be gleamed from rich and wonderful works when you start putting the pieces together on your own :) Thanks for getting in touch and taking a few minutes to watch the video
At 2:50 in this Video ruclips.net/video/PoHIRo6ucNo/видео.html he mentions that Jung used "Anima" as an expression of the female subconscious of a man in the dreamworld. So its probably about both
I didn’t see it that way. But art is bout interpretation. And this is definitely a piece of art. I’ve watched it a couple of times. I do think is about a man’s boresome and tireless commute to be a part of a system that sucks out energy out. And that she, is a spark of light in his life. Like love. And he searches for that light hit to get out of that same old commute. When he finally finds her after he has almost given up, they start knowing each other and slowly they fall in love. And then all they can see is love. At the end, like often happens in love, they’ve had enough and she disappears from his life leaving him to start all over again in the never ending cycle. That’s what I saw.
I love this short film. Your ANIMA interpration was what I thought as well. Overall it is a bittersweet piece of art. The humour of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin can be felt and truly the human condition is a tramp or one journeying through this cosmic terror of night. Like Sisyphus, Thom continues on but, atleast in this, finds a resolution, I believe, through human connection and a step closer towards repairing a fractured psyche.
Oh my goodness, as someone who's now seen this film somewhere in the ballpark of 30 times, I would absolutely adore to see it in Imax with the sound turned up to ungodly levels! I'm glad you liked the video, and I hope you continue to like whatever else we put out :)
@@inframeout It was even for free (since it was technically a commercial for the album)! And I was ready to pay anything. I'm already loving this channel, will for sure check out all your future videos :)

the way ive always looked at this film is as a perspective of the world around him. The people following in line, the disorienting colours, the baren landscapes. It's like we're stepping into the mind of thom and seeing what he sees. A world of mindless people, with one that just manages to be different that he falls in love with
Good job! I just watched the Netflix Anima. Very cool. Then pulled up your analogy of it. You hit it right on the mark with your interpretation of Thom's video.👍😎
I have just watched Anima, as a piece of art every people will have their own interpretation, i believe that the man is trying to achieve success, money and other meaningless stuff, but he only find joy and happiness in the love, as i believe that is the meaning of live, love, your friends, your family, the person who you want to create a family, you won't find any better thing in life than that.
Glad you think so! Thanks so much for seeking us out, and here's hoping Thom Yorke reschedules his upcoming tour dates because I need to see "Dawn Chorus" live
I've been considering it ( I really liked about 76% of that film), it's just finding an angle from which to take a crack at it without just listing things that happen (which wouldn't be fun for anyone). I'd maybe discuss it as a wider examination of how Von Trier baits controversy and to what end (whether he's being genuinely artistically engaging or just provocative)
In/Frame/Out i was thinking about making a video on how pta loves the mannerisms and uniqueness in people by seeing him focus that in his films and in interviews seeing him quietly watch and just enjoy how people act. I think you could do a better job at this.

There is the exoteric for the masses and the esoteric for the few.

I discovered this short-film while researching the choreographer’s work, so, thank you for creating this video, as it’s the only one of its kind! 🙏🏻
I made my mum watch ANIMA (she enjoys Michael Bublé) and she thought Dawn Chorus was beautiful. I teared up abit.
This is so wholesome and glorious. Thank you for sharing :)
