    Since you have both the field and the xy, I'd appreciate if you could check what happens if you connect the field as a midi controller via bluetooth to xy and play the field keyboard while xy active track is punch in effects or tape or any other aux track. Field's probably triggering the corresponding action on the currently active aux track. But maybe with different midi channels you could play punch in fx on the xy while the field live played a sound on the xy. Jeez that would be cool.

    • @Shimmery.mp3
      @Shimmery.mp3  Месяц назад

      Hmm interesting 🤔 thanks for the suggestion - will add it to the list! When just playing on the XY if you have recorded a sequence on the punch-in FX and live play another track it still does get affected by the punch-in. I figure the resultat would be the same with a midi controller 🤔

  • @nikconomos
    @nikconomos Месяц назад +1

    So does the multi sampler spread 1 recoded sample across all keys with the same time stretch? Or do you need to sample different notes of a sample to cover the entire keyboard? Also does the XY have at least external sustain with a midi controller? Thats the one big thing for me that the OP-1 Field is still missing.

    • @Shimmery.mp3
      @Shimmery.mp3  Месяц назад

      If you only record one sample then it Will spread it across all keys. But this will produce audio artifacts when you stray to far away from the recorded pitch. So yeah, multisampling allows you to record notes across a few octaves to reduce the artifacts and make a better sound. Or you can use it as i did in the end - for splitting your keyboard

    Could you show how the xy handles chopping? moving in and out points by hand per key for longer samples is really annoying. also with the xy you would also have to select the sample first from the library, right? funnily enough the fields limitation here takes away an additional step. The ableton move runs off a raspberry pi with a 64 gb memory stick. I am still a TE fan boy that ordered an op-xy but raving about some of this things features makes us seem foolish. The best thing to compare the op-xy to is a custom guitar or grand piano. In the world of grooveboxes the op-xy and op-1 are just premium devices. If you want to learn to play the guitar you dont get a custom fender stratocaster. But if you love guitars and have the money to spend you shouldn't be ashamed of spending $5,000 or more on a guitar.
