Steps for gradually building your own home theater system:
    1) get a big enough place with no thin walls and/or neighbors
    2) give up if 1 isn't met

Please try this with your big setup. One of the coolest parts of these speakers is that they're CERTIFIED for THX Reference levels and will happily take a beating. Let them stretch their legs, they really shine with space! The imaging will mess with you, things behind you with the speakers spaced away will make you do the shoulder check. Give it a shot. EDIT - Toid / 123TOID did a DIY video cloning the 650s so you can bang out a pair for ~500.

Thank you Zeos for getting out the message that needs to be had: For Home Theater, one wants projection, dynamics, throw, controlled directivity, and controlled frequency response. We don't need fidelity and nuance. People miss the boat when building a home theater all the time; expensive speaker lines do NOT beat out more pro-based installations with horns. It's not music, it's movies.

This lineup is 20 years old or so. They are intended to be used as a complete system. There is a subwoofer intended to be with them. A little while back you can get a complete system slightly used for $5000. Klipsch has a new system that they're pushing through the integrator market called the RCC, which is a full behind the screen unit that comes together it's own baffle wall. LCR and 2 subs. The THX system from Klipsch was before it's time. The inwall versions seem to be more popular but the THX line isn't that hard to find online but it was intended for the custom integration market. You need a full Klipsch THX 7.1 system to truly appreciate it.

As long as they get loud enough monitors are fine for HT. You need a sub for explosions etc anyways.

I am gonna agree to disagree Z !!!!
Although they are great speakers for what they are. But the cost is way way to high.
For me, it's the Klipsch RP 603 2s.
    For half the cost.

i have always wanted to have a front soundstage with the KL-650-THX LCR's. but they discontinued them sadly. so it looks like they came back with a new set.

those are speakers that make kinda sense for a home theatre option. Horn kinda kills them again but whatever better then most basic hifi speakers. Luckily i can design and build my own speakers. There is nothing on the market for home threatre ... well the situation for music aint much better. Speakers got very bad over the last 20 years to buy. Even 10.000€/$ spakers still shitty.

Been waiting for someone to do the klipsch THX Line! Thanks! Would love to know if the new “Reference Premier II” line up is any better than the previous…
Also - if you ever get a chance to try the X20i IEMs by klipch, I’ll send you my custom balanced 4.4 cable for them. Holy hell they’re the most underrated IEMs on the planet once you hear them balanced.

The RP-II line is better. Are they worth the cost to upgrade if you already have the RP-I line? No. But they do measure and sound better.

Remember, in a home theater, loud is better than good. I learned that from Bose.
