It Worked! I manage several sites for friends and family. I just went through each and successfully cleaned out unused images. Odd, in that their were just two hero background images that were inadvertently removed. Easy fix with the backup images I have on file. Thank you for this tip!
Something went very wrong with this plugin. I reviewed the sites after I removed the images, cleared my browser cache and all looked well. After a few hours I revisited all my sites to find that all the images were GONE. Be careful with this plugin and be sure to first backup you site before you try it.
I need to clarify that it was primarily several of the "header" images that were missing. This feature works but does make a few mistakes. I suggest to have a backup of your images on your computer and then you will be able to upload any that turn up missing.
Hey Frank, thanks for the heads up! The plugin scans the database for posts and pages that reference the images. If there is no post or page referencing an image it's safe to assume it's not used anywhere. I wonder if the header images are referenced in a different way and that's what's causing the problem. And sorry for the delay...summer holidays...
It should. The plugin scans the database for posts and pages that reference the images. If there is no post or page referencing an image it's safe to assume it's not used anywhere. Images you add to Elementor are added to the media library and references connecting the image to the elementor page would be in the database. I haven't tested it specifically, but it should work with Elementor-based pages. And sorry for the delay...summer holidays...
Hi Patsy, In your WP Dashboard go to Settings, the Media. If you change all the sizes you see on that page to zero, the additional copies won't be made. BUT If those copies of different sizes)= are needed for your theme to show images properly, then your site won't function as it should if you stop the copies from being made. I would take a screenshot of the sizes on the Settings > Media page. Change it all to zero and see if future image uploads work as expected. Making this change shouldn't affect any images you've already uploaded. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

very helpful vedio
I'm new to your channel, is there like a recommended path to go for if I want to learn how to make my client's page faster?
Hi Erik, sorry for the delay! I think the best place to start would be this playlist: ruclips.net/video/DhyRdZ51gBE/видео.html
I guess it works for me. I have over 2000 copies of an image from Tony Robins' podcast. 😅And I just used it to test an RSS feed importer plugin.
Removing those 2000 copies should help your disk space :) Nice work!
Thank you very much for an awesome tutorial
You're welcome, thanks for watching! And sorry for the delay...summer holidays...

Do you know if this method works with the Elementor page builder?

It will not work properly with elementor i think. I tried it after seeing this video and lost some of the images
How do you stop WordPress from making copies of each image?
