Best place ever. It's for the young and the old. Been here many times in my lifetime and take my grandkids too. We all love it!! Headed there tonight with the grands to watch a good movie, IF, and make some memories.
This is where I saw Star Wars, Grease, and Saturday Night Fever in the late 70's. What a great time to be a kid in Gatesville.... They used to have a couple of rows of seating for the Drive-in in a small building for those that didn't have a car....
Still keeping the pass a live, that’s great to see that, but great to see that there’s people out there still wanting to see who they where seen fifty years a go.
Haven’t been there in over 10 years. I remember it was a 30 minute drive down pitch dark roads going home to Katy. Cool experience though. Saw a double feature.
I have been to this drive-in several times and always enjoyed the experience. I suggest you check out the Sandell Drive-in in Clarendon. It's only open weekends from April-August but it's an excellent experience, especially the amazing burgers.
Drive ins were already dying when I was a kid in the 70-80s, but I did see my first two R movies at a drive in. It was a double feature of The Blues Brothers and Animal House. I was about 13.
I can't count the movies I saw there in 50' and 60's, even snuck in a few times through a hole in the back fence. Almost got caught once and exited through hole I came in and ran down the back road till I was out of breath. I stopped and looked, saw a flashlight waving and took off running again. I never tried to sneak in again. As a kid the whole family went, and we'd go play on the swings up by the screen during intermission. Some good memories.
Just moved here! Love the theater and the city it is in! Hidden Gems!
Worked there for over 10+ years. I am where I am today because of this place and this family! Love you Palmers! I think of Audie everyday!

There are still quite a few in Texas. They're a cool experience but not as convenient or comfortable as the modern movie places today.
Yeah it is to hot and humid in south Texas
