Spent time there on the Kent D12 in 60s also finished my time on SCRG based in Chats lived in Married quarters in Dargetts wood. Great place with loads of history and sad to see it now as it is.
A superb day out and so much to see and explore for all the family. Great promo video, but apart from the Ropery, not enough emphasis on some of the amazing historic naval buildings on site. That said, a very nice taster of the Dockyard where I completed my RN firefighting and damage control training in 1975. Also, HMS Cavalier is berthed in the dry dock that legendary HMS Victory was built. Highly recommended and tickets last for 12 months, allowing repeat visits for no extra charge.
Great video of a historic and valuable National asset. The museum Illustrates why the dockyard and the navy were world beaters in their day. Would recommend a visit Many fond memories from my time there when it was operational.
