Hi The Speckled Egg, thanks for watching. It varies from ship to ship, there are no standardized smoking areas, but typically, they are located on one side of the ship's main pool deck.
so i guess cruising is off for me, as i get it u cant smoke anywhere....i would pay to have a room with balcony to smoke, but if i cant enjoy a drink in my cabin balcony without a smoke then i better stay at home

Crazy how times change...last cruise I went on was in 2003 on the Aurora (P&O)...the only place that was non smoking was the restaurants and the kids areas. Every corridor was lined with ashtrays. It's a shame in my opinion, people just got on with it then and enjoyed themselves. but that's modern times for ya.....
Hi Paul, thanks for watching. Cruise ships now have many of the same smoking restrictions that you find on land. In hotels, finding smoking areas (including in your own room), has become increasingly difficult. Hopefully, smokers know this in advance so that can decide if that works for them.

Hi Mark, thanks for watching. The simple answer is there are no exceptions. Smoking is not permitted in any staterooms, suites or their balconies on every major cruise line.

Not saying they will find out you've been vaping in your stateroom or balcony, but I've been on several ships lately where it was so obvious those around my room were vaping. Some people were even vaping while leaning over the balcony railing, in direct sight of the ship's cameras along the side of the ship.

Hi Andrea, thanks for your question. Not all of the Caribbean is affected by this current storm. Cruise Lines are mainly concerned with safety of guests & crew and keeping ships away from the path of the storm. Many ships are sailing on revised itineraries that have them sailing to the Western Caribbean with stops including Mexico, Jamaica, Grand Cayman. For other cruises that have been canceled altogether, those ships will stay out at sea to avoid being slammed near the coastlines. Royal Caribbean has canceled this weekends sailing of the Enchantment of the Seas to the Bahamas and they are allowing their South Florida employees to board the ship today (Friday) in Miami before the ship sails to calmer water to ride out the storm.

For example, on Regal Princess the smoking areas were Promenade Deck 7 (starboard side aft and Sun Deck 17 aft). They did permit electronic cigarettes in staterooms, but not stateroom balconies and in the outside designated areas.

Second hand smoke is now seen for what it is - hence no smoking areas predominate. We are getting wiser.
