TrailHawk GC has a different transfer case than the other trims. Overland may share it as well.

I think your going to pick the Everest over the jeep as your biased because the Ford is built in Australia the jeep is the better offroad because they have the heritage for building off road vehcles and it looks better than the everest

The FORD RANGER is built in THAILAND in the same factory where RANGER is made.

Funny that in this review the Ford wins, but then in 2018 they make the Jeep the 4x4 of the year.

Peter Finnigan you're wrong with your use of "your"! I hope by now, after two years, you have corrected this grammatical mistake! ;-)

The Everest is built in Tialand I was a Ford person and went to a Jeep Grand Cherokee because the Everest is a piece of shit and for comfort my wife couldn't travel in an Everest as she has a major back problem. The Grand Cherokee runs rings around the Everest so seriously until you have owned both you wouldn't know. Economy on the 5 cylinder is crap the Jeep runs rings around it. Seriously I find these reviews a laugh.

Seriously your a four wheel drive magazine and your trying to say the Trail Hawk is shit to the Everest. The Everest is over priced has shit all features in it and is an uncomfortable fuel guzzling piece of crap. That is why I changed from Ford to Jeep and would never go back.

The interior, one was shitty looking, the other was a Grand Cherokee.

So the Grand Cherokee is more like a Pajero (than a Prado) in the way that it is built, I didn't know that; they probably are quite nice to drive on the road then. It is a shame that Jeep have such a bad name for reliability and customer support here in Australia but on the upside it makes them relatively cheap on the secondhand market if you're brave enough to give one a try...

You claim the win to the Everest because you are a 4wd mag and it is the better real off-road vehicle, yet 90% of the footage was shot on well graded forest roads. If you want me to believe you that it is really a better 4wd then you missed your chance to prove it. How about some footage of real 4wding that shows the Everest getting up, over and through actual off-road 4wd worthy obstacles that prove that the Jeep can't match it with the Ford. Then I will believe. Until then nope sorry not good enough. Oh and I don't own either brand and reviews like this certainly aren't going to convince me that I should.

The The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is the better over-all car for on-raod and off-road.

Yes they could have done a more difficult circuit, but is not necessary for realize that the GC has a unibody construction, is well known that are less eficient for harcore off road purposes than a body on frame SUV. For sure the GC can take some off roading but in a long term vision is not a good choice.
I like the GC, is a very attractive SUV but are more capable SUV for off road purposes out there and with a way better reliability.
They are from Australia and Jeep doesn't have a very good reputation there, actually the shitty reliability provided by FCA products is well sold just in USA, but in the rest of the world Jeep sales are very poor compared to their rivals.

Mitsubishi would argue with you that there 8 Dakar wins in modified and factory spec Pajeros that unibody construction is a very effective platform if done properly. When it comes to reliability Ford are hardly market leaders. The ACCC our federal consumer watchdogs here is Australia is currently taking them to court for what are allegedly a truly massive number of defective vehicles and consumer law breaches.

Except of course that Fiat Chrysler are the biggest bunch of mofos when it comes to customer service and the reliability of the jeep is legendary (in an extremely sh$t way). You could get lucky and get one that doesn't crap itself. Personally, Russian roulette isn't my thing. Ford customer service isn't much better and their cars do seem to burst into flames more often than one would like. Still better than Jeep though...

Looks like ford borrowed land rovers icons for its terrain response knob lol! I guess you can make a pretty decent 4wd when you just buy the tech rather than develop it yourself.....

does the trailhawk have a rear locking diff or limited slip?

      limited slip

      ELSD electronic locking rear diff

The Trailhawk has QuadraDrive II.2, which does have a locking rear diff.
Where it differs from QuadraDrive II.1 (as found in the WK, the
previous generation GC) is that ONLY the rear diff locks. In the WK,
both the front and rear diffs locked. What's great about them is that
they are limited-slip up until they lock.
The first version of QuadraDrive, as found in the WJ (99-04) was limited
slip front & rear - no locking diffs.
