Jaguar E-Type That's 1JZ Swapped and Half-Cut: Badass or Blasphemy?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 дек 2019
- It's often said that the Jaguar E-Type is one of the best looking cars ever made... and many people would agree. So why not make one into a drift car? Well, other than fearing a bunch of Jag purists grabbing their pitchforks to come after you, it's a whole lot of work (and cost-prohibitive) to make one of these 60s beauties work for the rigors of sliding around aggressively. But with two halves of an all-but-totaled E-Type and some serious bodywork experience, Charlie Seward made it happen. And it is good.

Seen this at a few events... He drives the absolute shit out of it every time, its insane in person
He' ll go far
I bet it is
Its his brother that drives it 😜
Young, humble and talented. A rare combo these days
these guys are absolute legends.
I know em and that's all true lol
Incredible quality and craftsmanship! This level of talent is rare indeed!
Im young, talented, and very humble.
/s obviously
I basically wrote the same thing as you before seeing your comment! LOL!
Larry: 'I dont think Ive spent 2000 man hours on anything.'
Me, having watched over 2000 hours of Larry Chen films: 'wait..
Pornhub?
Hahaha
"It's only paint and metal, we can fix it"
That's the spirit mate!
Cheers! 🍻🍻
it's still a straight six, so it's all good.
hafidz yusof true
No when we are talking about Jaguar Xk series straight 6...
Is all legit =D
so an l539 is ok in the case of a v12
I'd guess the original E type engineers would be pleased with that. It's not Sacrilege when the donor car was scrap. Doing it to a minter is Sacrilege. Hats off the these dudes.
damn right if the car is falling apart with a dead engine and bodywork missing then why not keep the look alive but give it a new heart if you manage to come across some old body parts you can restore then do it and make alterations to fit eh new engine nothing makes me happier as a car guy than seeing an old car breathing fire and screaming to the gods that its back for one more fucking ride
Naaa it’s easier to start with a restored example. Cut all cars.
Your property, your rules.
massive purist, but anyone who slapped together this gorgeous drift car from two separate pieces deserves all the love he gets
Bro look young if he's around 28 i wonder how tf did he grow up to learn how to build cars and own a shop that restores classics and builds 1jz powered e-types in their spare time. Hell of a life blessings
easy, must have amazing parents, lucky guy
This is definitely one of the coolest auto focus episodes to date! What an awesome guy!
too right, I was smiling like a 5 year old on his birthday from start to finish
This bloke should have his own TV show, knowledgeable, and affable.
They have a RUclips channel now. Search Charlie’s classics & customs 👍🏼
You mean a Jag that actually runs and doesn't break down every day? Sounds Badass to me...
Toyota motor on it, so you have the reliability
@@sepg5084 There's a company in the US called JTR, Jags That Run. They sell kits to convert Jags over to Chevy 350 motors. Jags are beautiful cars the mechanics are just so complicated and inconsistent from what I've been told.
That's exactly what I was thinking! The E Types are gorgeous but being a British car the engine isn't reliable. So it only makes sense to drop in a 1JZ.
Chris Brown you are very wrong about this car, the original 4.2L dohc I-6 is a fantastic powerful and bulletproof motor even with carburetors
@@jrew3569 Good to know. I've always heard the Jag engines were tough to keep running, but that also may have been more about the ones with mechanical fuel injection and later models than this one. I do like this build because it would be a shame to take a classic engine and try to drift it. Something cool about an old body with a new engine and suspension
Soooo i read the title and instantly thought non-running show car.... thanks for clearing that up for me within 2 seconds
Maaaan! I love this thing! This is the prime example, no need for tons of money, the brain work, skill and the love for the job can make things like this happen! I am truly impressed!
When you juice up your e type barn find from forza to drift... in real life
Not a barn find.. chicken coop.. whole different set of obstacles there...
@@Z-Ack haha, I get what your saying, but the term "barn find" just means anything neglected and later found
This wasn’t a barn find it was him taking some chunks of steel and recycling and fabricating a car out of the pieces lol
Wow that guy has hella skills in metal work and he looks young for those skills which something like that takes time
Ya this dude is learning these skills in some fucking timeless void lol. It's impressive
Some people are just savants and naturals
Well it's a different kind of restomod and in my opinion it's a great project and an even better car.
The ammount of effort and pure fabrication skill in this build is amazing.
One of the sickest rides Ive seen on here!
As someone who has rebuilt 3 of these v12 engines. THANK GOD you got rid of it, nothing but coolant and head-gasket problems. First fast E-Type I've seen, nice work!
"its only paint and metal we can fix it up" God if only all the car snobs thought like this, maybe some of the cool older cars would have stayed affordable...
Charlie is the god damn man, we need more people like this.
The quality of those builds was just Insane
Scotto: I like cars
Charlie: I like big projects
It is so beautiful to see a youngster with that level of craftsmanship and passion for cars, people like him are so rare these days, they're slowly disappearing.
Stunning work and beautiful car.
Keep the passion going my young colleague!
Burnouts and elixir of the gods thatchers gold give this man the pride of Somerset award 🥇
It’s bad ass because it’s a rebuild they saved that “shell” there was barely anything. Much respect.
This is becoming one of my favourite channels, less fluff, fantastic, interesting builds. Good work!
this guy at his age is genius already. jealous of his abilities and amazed by the craftsmanship!
his over the top love for old rusty cars is low-key relatable
Holy smokes, you guys really put me on to a whole new game :o
This is the best video for me for a long time at Hoonigan. Thanks for checking this place out!
This episode had some great content he seems like a real Craftsman bringing cars back from the dead.
the engineering, finish and drivabality is a credit to to this young blokes work not to mention it rips and is the sexiest car shape ever made oh and those wheels omg im droolin
One of my favorite cars ive ever seen!!!! Crazy for e types!!
this is by FAR the most brilliant thing Ive seen in 2020. What an idea. love it 👌💯 stay safe and healthy out there folks 🙏🤞
Larry Chen, this Channel is the Discovery of the Century! Awesome Cars and all of that paired with the perfect editing and the beautiful pictures is just mind blowing...
What type of Carcaine addict are you: Simple Purest Or Full Blasphemy
Simple Purest at Day
Full Blasphemous at night
Anything go's,
The more it piss's them off the better.
Blasphemy. They can't stone me for it.
Blasphemi
Purest when it really matters, but most of the time anything goes.
Way to go young man such a knowledge i feel like hes my long lost brother
Always a pleasure to see and hear from the craftsmen that put their hearts, brains, and sweat into the project. 👏👏
This guy knows his stuff for sure that jag wasnt even a car in some people's eyes when he started and then he builds this monster out of it cheers to you my man. Awsome build!!!
Dang, another Draguar, and it's looks incredible as a Driftuar as well 🥰
Suprwar
For all you Mericans’, Somerset is like the Deep South, this is the UK’s version of some good old boys.
Yes, pure hillbillies lol no class at all 😅
Oh my god he should drift in and out out of Stonehenge🤣👍
Is that why his accent is so much clearer and easier to understand than other parts of the UK?
@@negativeindustrial the lower you get, the clearer the accents become.
@@implodingbaby Kind of, then you hit the west country ruclips.net/video/WjTIFkWJctY/видео.html
I just realized there are several Hoon channels. This one is different and I like it. I will watch all videos with Larry Chen. Larry you are the best.
The combination of cars in this shop is totally awesome. They have old ones and new ones. This is great.
this is the type of thing that helps restore my faith in humanity
What a beast! f'ing love this thing
MAN O MAN, what a way to wrap up the year Larry, epic video bro, Jesus Christ this made me happy!! Thanks so much! Plus this talented kid was constantly sharing the merit with "we" in his phrases, no "I" in team kids!
Mate that thing.... IS AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE! thats mona lisa x100 in my eyes. they could have just bought an s chassis or something throw the 2j in.... but no... the mans gotta do what a mans gotta do and this is why we love people like him. much love brother!
Why are Brits so classy? They start with figure 8s while Americans start with Donuts.
Because Americans have always been a little after.
Okay so who started it? since Aussies are well known for figure 8s 16:58 was it actually the Brits and making them classy in the first place?
@growlingbehemoth so England owns Australia?
@@Eduardo_Espinoza I think you might find 25 million or so Aussies that may have a problem with that statement.
@@trentmarlowe7655 which one? because the Us owns texas analogy? or England is the OG of figure 8's not Australia?
This is a legit car builder!
wow---
From the starting point to do this is just awesome. The shell was so far gone that this is not even blasphemy, just awesome work of art!
It makes me very happy to see guys his age do work this pristine.
Well, all i can say is that he did a "PROPER JOB" quoting scrapheap challenge, and didn't ruin it like a certain Chip Foose did with a PRISTINE Jag
that foose jag is better than the original -
@@nukarr ok !
Holy balls that Jag would make Jeremy Clarkson blush.
Honestly this is amazing, giving an old jaguar a new roar, it's not an ls and I'm grateful
brilliant boy! love and respect his passion and dedication. the Jag is such a fine work of monster!
This is the kinda car that makes you think: "well why didn't I think of that?"
Castle Combe got a feature on hoonigan!!!
Best Autofocus yet. Bravo to this guy. Just stunning.
You're metal work skills are chilling! Bloody awesome mate!! Looking forward to seeing the 2j build
Soo rad!! Forget the purists on this one LOL Sounds like an abomination on paper, Sounds like a chorus of octane-bred angels singing on camera! lol
send address of Charlie's bodyworks. please i wanna work there
Same , love seeing cars being brought back to life in one person vision and skill.
WHAT AN AMAZING BUILD!!! Props to you.
Its still a straight six - so rather this than a v8 swap or something.
BADASS🏁
im glad that some artists out there, living on earth.
I have seen this car so many times drifting at my local track, Castle Combe in the south west of England. It is a dream & they drive it hard! Thing of beauty!😍
I love that country, religion, colour, race, creed, gender, sex or class. It make no difference, carguys are the all the same wherever they are.
Look boys and girls, a dependable British car.
respect my dude you have talent my dad is restoring old veterans like you just in Denmark he is very talented tbh i have not seen many to match him but you do.. and so young respect my dude great work love your shop
one of the most fascinating builds ive ever seen, hands down
The only part that i dont like about this awesome car is the gigantous decal on the windscreen. Why??? Why??? Or cover the whole windscreen and drive blind, that would be cool again on some mad level.
I mean realistically you dont look up much and as long as he can see the road, signs and traffic lights its not really not much to worry about i expect its more used as a sun visor
@@helixwd739 Okay maybe it is mostly blocking the view from the outside. Possible.
@@derPetunientopf i mean of course its definatly not as safe as a plain windscreen but i wouldnt call it life threatening
It's a decal you get when you enter a drift competition over here in the UK called drift matsuri. It doesn't affect his driving trust me 😂 he's a machine. Drives the absolute shit out of that car!
Where would you buy a “new” Aston DBS? It’s not a Chevy
That's some amazing tin-bashing going into those rear arches! Great paint, too.
That is absolutely stunning. Beautiful build
Man, the classy British language is so out of place with such a project 😂
Td5 Adventures it’s a British car....jaguar ....
@@crystalpalace6285 yeah no shit!
Brits have a perfect word for that- bonkers. Sounds classy but crazy at the same time.
A Somerset accent being called 'classy British'
Cider drinkers!
@@richardirving4189 he doesnt have a Somerset accent at all
420 HP? Pls tell me it's also a 1969 model
This
My guy only has one number in mind. Haha
NICE
Not quite your average bolt on mods from ebay. Damn this kid is incredible. So much skill and drive to just make it work. Super impressed.
Incredibly talented and a complete nutter! Seriously, to have the ability to rebuild that Aston is a task that very few could or can master. I count myself as a purist but your drifter is epic! Brilliant stuff! This is Wacky Racers for real!!
Drag-uar.
This is blasphemy for sure but I love it.
Best video I've seen in a while... Respect young man!
This is the best car building / badass hotrodding content I've seen in a while!
Depends on the condition the car was
It was 2 pieces of metal, the rear and the center, separately.
@@Happymali10 then its badass. I'll watch it later
like 35 pieces....as shown in the video
Yeah, was going to say the same thing.
Purists say what they will, but if they started with literally half a car's worth of sheet metal, and no drive train; I say it's an open canvas.
@@Happymali10 It was more like a pile of an etype.
That thing is crazy! Great Job.
This guy, Charlie is just awesome. No ego. Humble, funny and damn talented. Props Bruh.
I've seen that car drift in real life a few times and was amazed by it. Now I have seen the work that went into it I am even more amazed!
This guy is amazing! Pure talent, education and dedication! My greatest respect ✊!
I like that gradual fade to white at the end.
This is the perfect car for Hoonigan. So unique they drive it like a boss and built, fabricated, and painted it all themselves. Crazy, I would kill to have 1/10th this shops skills.
Yo that jaguar thing was so damn cool the sickest thing yall have put into a video i loved it !
Charlie is an EXTREMELY talented individual!! Cheers mate!
Such a beautiful car and this man has the best skills I have ever seen.
I love this series of videos! GOLD!
He is so proud of his E-type. I love this man and his craft!
This was super refreshing to watch 🙌🏻
Truely magnificent, not only his skills to build it but also his innovation. 👏👏👏 Give you 3 claps
