Spooky listened to the pinball fanbase as a whole. Even though the theme isn't for everybody, they brought toys and ingenuity to 'World Under Glass'. It's what 80% of the fans want.
Thank you Nick for your review of Jaws, I completely agree! Long safe gameplay undercuts the excitement of pinball for me. You are looney tunes for rating Zeppelin that high though 😂
It really seems like spooky is stepping it up code wise. Texas chainsaw is really immersive, Halloween has finally come into its own, and evil dead BEFORE LAUNCH - has 300% more code than xmen does code wise.
Evil Dead looks like a winner to me. Never owned a Spooky game so can’t comment anything about the reliability issues. I think the biggest issues with pinball in general is all these companies pumping out way too many titles at once. They are over saturating the market. They should focus on quality, not volume.
Did you guys see the two posts in the xmen owners thread (long posts) regarding what they should with code - character selection and stuff like that? Curious of your thoughts on what he said
32:00 JJP has said they will never make more of these games. The fact that they updated the code could be a sign that they are planning a Limited Edition run. Ex. Valve Software has recently given large updates to Half-Life and Half-Life 2, signaling that they are probably getting ready to release Half-Life 3, 20 years later.
We asked Keith Johnson this question directly a few years ago when he was on our show. Here’s what he had to say: ruclips.net/video/NI-f3FsbXYA/видео.htmlsi=RnV-2HURa9CfaxLK&t=4571
@@BuffaloPinball As an aside, Kaneda said on his podcast a few years ago that the owners were not happy that nobody wanted the game initially and won't re-run it. I think a few bad releases in a row along with a very successful 'Metallica' re-make might change minds. JJP had a lot of problems with the game but I think a Limited run of 500 at 15K or 200-250 ala (Yellow Brick Road Edition) at 20-25K (with extra stuff) would make sense. If they can pull it off it would make sense.
@@neilmcrae1 I think there is a market for a limited run, not a full scale production. They can probably get Lior to make some mods for the game and charge $25K and they would probably sell out of a run of 200-250. Just my opinion but the fact is these games already sell for over $20K and the LE is just ridiculous. A Super LE would certainly sell even at $25K.
I strongly disagree on the code front, yes they release games without the code being finished but they absolutely do finish them. But tell me the manufacturer that does this? Avaturd from JJP? Uhh nope. Godfather nope, GTF nope, spooky nope - the difference with stern is that you eventually to get the code (and not 5 years after it launched!”.
@ nope! The game was finished by Lyman but Stern decided to give more additional stuff when they brought out other editions and gave that free to existing owners
@@gusphan this is the challenge - if I look at Godzilla the features kept coming and coming - Batman took a while to get going but was in the end amazing! I’m personally cool to wait for 6-9 months. Wick and Xmen behind the curve I agree but they will get their last xmen update in excellent!
Love the content guys but really hard to listen to you put down Stern so much about losing thousands for NIB buyers but how do you not say anything about the p3 and how every single owner is getting crushed resale wise too when they go to sell. Huge loss. In addition to quality being a mess for so many? Then you have JJP losing thousands for their NIB buyers as well, with almost every single one of their new games losing thousands (Toy Story, Godfather, avatar is even DOA). Again fair play with Stern as the code on wick and X-men is tragic but to ignore the major losses at these other companies, let’s just be a little more fair. I know Kevin is in with Jerry but it’s getting a little much with the p3, especially in this episode. That being said, still one of the best podcasts out there so just take this as constructive criticism! Not like you guys are distributors and using your podcast as a giant commercial like some do ; )
Stern fucks up so bad is because they figure they have to crank out shit after shit The only Bond worth it was 60th, Gold wings I mean X Men is just a bad design lol. Wick blows . The only good stern games at this point are the older ones

Nickel City was actually a popular arcade in San Diego during the 90s and early 2000s. Not sure if they had other locations.
Speaking of xmen, it’s got TONS of hardware issues, so even stern manufacturing can’t deliver.

I didn't dive into it because I don't know the current code well enough, but sounds like anything is better than what's currently in the game. -Nick
I had the X-men pro and traded it because of all the issues. Stern is damaging their reputation.
lol hey guys - love you but! - give this a listen back you’ve become the Waldorf and Statler of pinball 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you! I find those guys to be insightful.
@ they can be 🤣

They won’t rerun it because sales were crap, the game is a “hot mess” and it won’t sell again!

@ nah prices for these have come way down - 2 here in the UK barely made 15K.
Why doesn’t JJP re run Pirates?
Ah Jack Danger, that explains why Foo Fighters and X Men are hot garbage.
Thoughts on Aerosmith now??

What's a reasonable time frame that a company should complete a code in before you think customers have a valid point in getting upset?
Isn’t Stern’s Elvira 5 years old and just got an update that finishes the game?

@neilmcrae1 what's the rationale for 6 - 9 months? Why not 3 months? Or why not 1.5 yrs?

Stern is data farming they r more concerned with insider connect and figuring out how to get 50 bucks out of you every month
Absolute boloocks.
With xmen, the voices and music are terrible. I guess that's technically considered code too, but yikes.

Sales says otherwise!
And sorry POTC one of the most over hyped games of all time (not to forget the quality issues with it!!!)
