Marions Piazza on Old Dixie is the family tradition. Been there forever and a great place to hang out. Had my Mom's funeral lunch there the staff were very helpful
What a great owner getting his people involved and giving them credit. As someone who lives in Ohio I’ve never heard of a Midwest Neapolitan but I’ll be making a 3 hour drive this summer. That pizza looked incredible and had to be in the 8’s.

Old Scratch is a great quality pizza in Dayton. Not as old as Marion's or with the history, but over time will become that spot for newer generations. I hope Dave was able to stop in Giovanni's and try their pizza. Totally Dave's style of pizza! Having grown up on Marion's pizza and having eaten at Old Scratch I have to admit Giovanni's pizza stole my heart and pizza loyalty away from Marion's.
My dads side of the family are from Kettering, where this is, had it last time I was there and it's a solid 8. They have cool specially pizzas, and they are cheap, like $10 for a small pie like in the video. Marians is also great, they my Dad used to eat there growing up haha. I have a glass they sell with the logo too.
If you’re still in Dayton, Troni’s pizza, and restaurant in Kettering Ohio. But very happy about Marion’s and old scratch ratings. Love watching your reviews!!!!
Hey Dave right now in Las Vegas for 3 days we have a pizza convention and a competition at the Las Vegas convention center every year and I encourage you as someone who works there to come by and check it out before it disappears if possible. If not look up the Las Vegas pizza convention it happens Every year and I think you would really get a kick out of it.
People who say you can't find good pizza in Dayton and/or Columbus is because the everyday pizza for most that live in these areas is similar to those who live in Chicago and get party cut/tavern style thin crust with edge-to-edge toppings. Chicago has their deep dish, but that's special occasion pizza, not the every week family gets to eat at home style pizza. I know Columbus has a ton of styles that include NY, but also Detroit, Chicago Deep Dish, Ohio Valley, Artisanal, California, New Haven, and just some interesting concepts... you just have to look for it. The mom and pop shops are those that have the topping explosion going to the edge on a thin crust cut into little squares or rectangles.

It makes me smile to see how happy someone is, when the food they cooked is enjoyed by others. It truly is a mutual appreciation.
I just had some spectacular detroit style frozen pizza and I must say, there really is nothing better than some nicely cooked delicious food.
