OFF Topic, As a non-American I find it so strange that American houses do not have a hall(way). You enter in the dining/living room. Is this also true for Canadian houses?

Larger homes tend to have a front hall or foyer, smaller homes often have entrances into the living room or possibly kitchen but there are a wide variety of housing styles in Canada.
