Jackson went into Les Paul territory as early as 1988, with the Charvel 750XL (which was succeeded in 1990 by the Jackson Archtop Pro). While admittedly not a single cut design (they were Soloist shaped), they were maple set neck into a thick mahogany body with a carved maple top, 24.74" scale and dual humbuckers. I used to have a 750XL - it was even as heavy as a Les Paul. Then there were also the Fusion models, who were Gibson-scale bolt-ons. Also, the Jackson KV2T was a mahogany V shaped guitar with a 3+3 headstock and Gibson scale neck.

I stumbled upon this video after getting my MIJ Dominion a couple weeks ago. Mine is the black one and it came with a set of EMG 57/66, soldered, not the quickconnect type. I immediately noticed the guitar played great but the sound was "meh" at best. I swapped them for an 85/81 set (yes, the 85 goes in the bridge position) and added quickconnect wiring. The change brought this guitar to the next level. I've had US-made PRS, Fenders and I currently own a Carvin v220, and this guitars plays as good, if not better than those. It clicked with me from the moment I picked it up. Super comfortable, hefty but comfy neck, and the higher fret access is just incredible. I'm looking to get my second one soon!

I have the black primer one with no inlays. Looks great and i wanted it to be my be all guitar, especially with the coil splits. . Got it around 2008 and i have hardly ever played it because it seems to have a few problems, that i never bothered rectifying. I could never get it to stay in tune. The locking machine heads simply didn't hold tension after bends.. The frets were so high that it was impossible to play chords in tune. Also i did'nt like the odd shape of the bottom of the body. Did'nt fit in the guitar cradle and is susceptible to dings. Ah well, I'd like to make it playable one day cos the neck felt good. It's very cute.

Have you ever played an Emerald Virtuo? Seem fantastic for an old school metal guy that’s always been into anything as long as it’s done well and it has some groove.
When I was a younger guy it was all “CHUNK PUNCH AND CRUNCH!” I was nicknamed “Capn’ Crunch!”
Just curious because I don’t like buying a guitar without playing it first. But Ireland and the states and no sales except online.
We have very similar styles. I heard you and thought I was reincarnated but I don’t believe in that as a Christian. LOL!
Love your tones and we play a lot of similar patterns. I HATE JUMBO FRETS TOO. I had a Jackson V for about two weeks. Sadly, I bought a EVH Wolfgang of which I already had two Peavey’s and a Musicman at one point. Then for a guy who didn’t do much Van Halen, I did like his Wolfgang’s. (I had a “Frankenstrat” built to Eddie’s specs and it took longer to get the period accurate components that it did to build the guitar) But it’s very cool but I’m not a Strat guy as far as the bridge set up goes and my hand placement. I have a Charvel too that looks killer but I still prefer a Les Paul type (which is why I probably own 7 of them. All different)
But I did take the chance that I’d like this neck and what I could do with all the features.
I was able to select the thin wood veneer top which is like Justin Johnson’s but placed differently. He doesn’t use a pick so to hear what it can sound like, Davy K has some cool stuff up and two guitarist that have a band behind them
just trade off on solos and a tasty harmony part in between their solos.
You can reach up to the 22nd fret with this. I know you don’t usually touch acoustics, but this is a trip!
    Great Job!
