Great video. I have one of those cheap Chinese ladders and the first time I climbed up it, my feet screamed in pain. Seriously, it's like walking on a knife edge. I immediately vowed never to try that again without shoes on. So, what this gentleman says in the video is EXACTLY right. That black ladder with the angled steps is a game changer. I've also seen a non-collapsible ladder with round rungs, which of course eliminates sharp edges entirely. Another winning approach. Good luck to all in your camping adventures!
Top gear. Top vid. Top bloke. Why would u not buy an alucab tent. Now I have to figure out how to Wack it on top of our trakkadu. Maybe on the next build coming soon!!!!! Cheers.
I have a Gen two Allu Cab with the fixed length ladder. Where can I purchase one of those new Allu Cab ladders ? I am in WA and the original supplier in WANGARRA is no longer.
Not that I'd buy an iKamper as I prefer alloy shell RTTs, but they (iKamper) have been using that style of extendable ladder (ie. level steps) for a couple of years now. The rest are just catching up to them now.
Nevertheless, ikamper stuff is way Overpriced. You get much more for your money from most other roof top tent manufacturers, instead of ikamper. Terrible price-performance ratio.
IKamper never invented nothing, RTT are more then 40yo, a German company name Auto Camp made the sane style tent for over 30 years, and there ladder is a simple ladder that you can found in every hardware shop
@@ivanbiscan1587 I already own some quick fists for my shovel. I guess they just drilled through the alucab to mount them. Wasn’t sure if it was a specific mount.
Can't make up my mind between the 3.1 and the bundutec. Our daughter is 5, and in the bundutec I can sleep head to toe with my wife to make space for her.
I cant be the only person who thinks this is a well designed but cheapish built hard shell roof top tent. In reference, check out the bush company Alpha.. seems to be much better thought out and same price
A little racist with the cheap Chinese made ladder comments and several references in this video. Could be a little more thoughtful with the commentary. Made in China does not mean cheap or inferior. You mean to say the design of the new ladder from AluCab is better right?
That ladder is such an improvement
Thanks for all the info. I’m in the USA and I’m about to get my gen 3.1 on my Lexus GX460!
You are the best off-road RUclips presenter on the market!
Whys that?

Awesome video, thank you. Those collapsible angled step ladders have been around for a few years now.
Ready for my install !!!

Why not to buy? Cause it cost money...
Let’s hope the also make a upgrade for the Icarus, not only the tent. The bags on the roof will also be nice to have
Well done!!!
IVAN have you seen what Drifta have done with the telescopic ladder

Setting up on my 200 bought used. Should I buy rails and what brackets will I need?
Ok, I’m Alucab owner with the old ladder. Where can I get one of the upgraded ladders please?

I'm Asian and it's perfectly fine to say Chinese crap. Don't need white savior defending my ego, honor, etc. Thanks.
