- Red, White, & Royal Blue Trailer Reaction
I'm back! Kind of. Anyway, the offfcial trailer of Red, White, and Royal Blue dropped recently and I was really excited (because I completely forgot the adaptation is coming out in 2023). Tell me what you thought about this trailer. Personally, I have a really good feeling about the movie. We need more queer romcoms (I'm starving here).

Okay, so what scenes do we want to see in the movie?
I want to see the turkey scene, but I'm afraid it's going to be cut.
@@NaliaDangerthe turkey scene is one of the foundational ones in my head!! I’d love to see it as well. It has such genius comedic timing. I agree though, that they might cut it. Making movies with children and animals is often hard and expensive.
@@NaliaDangerI think Casey hinted on twitter that it would be in the movie

La escena del lago en la casa de Alex
Uma’s accent is because character Ellen Claremont-Diaz is from Texas, a character who was a hard-working girl to become a lawyer and kept it real, much like what we’re seeing in the trailer.
Exactly !!
Uma Thurman is doing a southern accent, I think is great!
Can’t tell them apart so have to believe your word😅
For the books
In the novel, Ellen is from Texas, so I assume Uma Thurman is trying to do a generic Texas accent. I live in Texas, and nobody I know sounds like that.
Are you sure 😉
I do remember that they were Texan in the book but I’m bad with accents. I guess it’s gonna be one thing that people will debate about. I’ve seen comments already that say they do recognize it as a southern one.
I know someone from Berlin, Texas who sounds just as bad as Uma
@@PTRAINBOY Yes. I'm sure that Ellen and Alex are from Texas in the novel. It's mentioned several times that they keep a house in Austin and have a ranch in the hill country.
Ellen is from Lometa! The accent makes sense actually
Her Texas accent is excellent
I love the choice of actors but I’m worried that it will be too short. Love, Simon was a fantastic movie, but they cut out too much from the book in my opinion. But I’m excited for this one!
My biggest issue with Simon is the tonal difference and changes at the end that didn’t seem to fit the characters and situation (the very big public confession issue that is more of a Hollywood stereotype rather than a possible scenario for two queer people). I wouldn’t mind it being shorter as long as the general atmosphere of it is the same. I do have my favorite scenes though (and mostly hope they will be a part of the movie).
I can’t believe it comes out on my birthday
Uma Thurman is doing a Texas accent. Not Southern. One of the more attractive American accents IMHO. Texans got charm to spare. Played against a British Received Pronunciation - Whew! This is gonna be good.
She's doing a typical southern accent
The accent everything
So what did you think of the movie?
Definitely liked it despite changes (but it definitly a bit more shallow than the book)
August 2023 all right thank you
August 11
What do you think about June's character being removed?
I wasn’t aware of it when I watched the trailer but it’s slightly disappointing cause I do love the character in the book. Don’t know how it will affect the group dynamic/friendship part of the story but I hope it was a thoughtful choice rather than an attempt to cut something out simply to save time.
I want to know when will it start
I completly missed this. It's been a while since I read the book, so I don't have anything in mind. I'll probably won't watch it when it's released but I am curious. Also I feel like romcom trailers always reveal too much :')
I feel like all movie trailers reveal too much. It's especially annoying with crime/detective/thriller genre. They put whole plot twists in there. It's so dumb!

Oh August is my birthday month too! When is yours??
16th! You?
@@BooksWaffles That's crazy! Mine is on 17th

I feel the same way about her accent. It's a bit... much. It's almost distracting. But other than that, this looks potentially great.
Yeah, I agree I thought her accent was slightly distracting mainly because Alex doesn't have anywhere near as strong of an accent... I don't think he sounds even vaguely Southern in the movie... Which I guess is fine because accent work is difficult but yeah he doesn't sound Southern in ANY of the words that he says in the movie. David on that someone is putting on a very slight accent some words will have that accent and others won't. I've not read the book but from what I've been able to gather he does have a noticeable accent in the book. And it is true that Texas accents can vary depending on where in Texas they're from. They can be very very mild or can be very noticeable... But his mother has a significantly heavy accent and he has no accent, just a kind of generic neutral American accent. It's just a little bit strange, IMO. It took me out of the immersion, slightly.
@@AnxietyRat I feel like the moments they shared in the movie (esp the forever moment) would have hit harder if she didn't have the accent and just spoke it naturally. But that's me. Great movie. I watched it twice. If they ever do a remake or mini series, they should involve all the characters. Heck, I hope they have an extended version of the movie. That would be great.
