I'm not an architect, just a draftsman, we just use a shitty computer but surely I think this machine is designed to do something a little bit more serious than a few cylinder and tree templates.....
This would've been much better to see AutoCAD or Revit....
This comment section is filled with experts.
@Zeb HAHAHAHAHA shots fired
That's really good input they should include a pivot to turn the screen either a few degrees left or right or all the way on the next model
could always put it on a lazy susan
jctai100 that would just swivel the computer to the left or right not tilt the screen ;)
@@Reedith she wasnt saying it to tilt from what i heard. she was asking for it to sort or twist so she could get it angled like when you draw on paper. Plenty of applications actually offer the ability to free form the drawing surface to give it an angle, maybe sketch up doesnt allow that as it may not be heavily designed for touch input but it is something that is offered on a lot of drawing software
Like the Surface Hub 2
You can rotate your canvas with your hands. Feature is part of most cad applications including Adobe suites.
I have never seen anyone use freehand on sketchup...
You people in the comments are something else. She said she is an ARTIST and an ARCHITECT and she’s been working in the arts from 20 years and recently. So she’s a trained architect and uses that knowledge to make her art.
PRIME finally...someone point it out.😅😅
The title is the problem. It's misleading
She is just an artist and not an actual registered architect. This is very misleading and wrong.
She studied architecture, there is no law stating that she can't call herself an architect. She can't however make a practice, or render any services stating or pertaining to the duties of a registered architect, because she's not licensed.
@@deathblade909 pretty sure impersonation is illegal but ok.
Your dumb... I don't like you( ͡°Ĺ̯ ͡° )
@@deathblade909 unfortunately there are laws regarding labeling yourself an architect in the US unless you are registered. Im a current architecture student and the tell us we can either call ourselves designers, jr architects and/or architectural designers but never the actual term Architect.
An ignorant guy is calling a graduated student DUMB
Show me what Architects would actually use for software. Revit, ArchiCAD etc... ScketchUp is used for very simple forms, not as a real tool.
don't waste our time, try again with an actual practicing architect developing actual architectural projects. if your're gonna put that word in the title and address that audience, then have her/him tell the rest of us how it's to use for actual architectural purposes, that is AutoCad, Revit, Rhino, Lumion, Excel etc. you can do concepts on a napkin, nobody's impressed by that
gavranarh After a quick search it appears that she is not a registered architect, although she seems to be representing herself as one, which is unethical & illegal.
This is CNET. They only put effort into Apple products. Evidenced by their recent 13 minute unboxing of the iPad compared to this and a less than 3 minute "review" of the OnePlus 6T. I'm not hating on Apple, I have Apple products in my home, but this is becoming a little one-sided. Did Apple buy CNET?
gavranarh
Well said
Yeah! I agree. I want to see this machine with revit! I am looking for videos showing this surface with revit or autocad
@@wadenolan1 Many countries outside the US don't have legal implications with one calling themselves an architect.
"I'm an architect"
- uses sketch up for concept art
And this is how you pull value from words
Sketchup is among the least graphically pleasing software for architects. Truly a shame as it fails to show off how beautiful this screen really is.
I didn't see any test happening there. All I can see is zoom in, zoom out. For the sake of test she's applying colors.
I wish they would just sell it as a monitor
K-BooGiE! I read they are about to 👌🏻
Incase of need of only monitor try dell canvas
I would so be into this kinda art cause it's one of my favourite things to do and 3D art is cool
Very honest review. Still would love to have this in my home.
Despite the fall backs the product has or questioned with rotation of monitor or wheel not sticking to screen Microsoft stays true to it's product and listens for constructive criticism. Would be interesting to see the same engineers that built the hinge for the surface mobile like products to build a hinge for the surface studio to allow rotation.
I’d love to see what it’s like with Revit and drafting drawings
here's hoping MS is looking at this for gen3
girl is right. non-rotating screen is a big miss. would need at least 2 extra mechanisms to maintain the balance and spring tension while rotating though.
Ok
But now show us how well it works w ArchiCAD, illustrator, final cut X & Revit
Would work great. The specs are plenty for CAD and photo video editing software. I wish MS would sell a monitor only so you can connect your own computer. Would make it more future proof.
McobraR yes indeed
A monitor would give Wacom real competition
The the studio is much, much, thinner than a cintiq
@@McobraR I was wondering if you could buy a cheap one of these now and pull it apart a bit to rewire it as an extremal monitor
Does it run smoothly now?
expensive piece of hardware - lol at the comments! Doing freelance concept work for film and games, sketchup is fast and easy to build scenes or 3D base renders to be digitally painted over later. Love to see this used in Maya, zbrush, blender, modo or any 3D terrain generating softwares also
Sketch up she said? Interesting bc I've only used auto cad and revit but haven't heard of sketch up. Anyone care to elaborate about that program I'll really appreciate it. 😁 happy thanksgiving everyone. (Like what's it's main use other than sketching bc revit u can build stuff and add so much to complete a project what can sketch up do that revit can't and vice versa?)
Me too. Actually I heard about sketchup. For some weird reason, sketchup comes pre-installed with my Windows PC. I tried once, I thought that was an upgraded version of MS Paint. 😂
@@detechie ah I see, yeah it seemed like a really upgrade version of pain 😆. Also I thought it was like revit but it gave u more freedom when u chose a roof for example u could edit it via hands instead of commands which is a lot harder.
SketchUp is a very good and advanced design software. It's easier to use compared to AutoCAD, CATIA and others. As an engineering student, it helped me design most of my models and I also use it for building plans as well. I recommend you really try it before judging.
@@oryanol ah I see engineer, I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks for the advice and info
I look at sketch up as an easier to use rhino
I'm an Architect. This is a ridiculous video. We dont work like this at all.
You don't
They do
A very lazy attempt to impress people who know nothing about architecture and design.
They need a mirrorless camera cuz that shutter is loud.
The entire comment section is apple and MS fanboys fighting .
There’s R in ps to rotate your canvas. Sure there are similar shortcuts in other programs 😏
I've never been inclined to use a touchscreen while 3d modeling, it's an interesting idea I guess
But can it run Crisis?
I finally made a good election with a Wacom Pro L to relax my hand and work for many hours. 3 Plane screen with 27 inch and 2K and a monster desktop PC with Intel Xeon and RTX 3090. All that cost me less than a Surface studio 2 but are 5 times more powerfull.
Dat vocal fryyyyyyyy
Architect or no Architect the cost of this is preposterous !!
It's nice but its a very spacific small market.
Well...duh
Yo quiero uno asi con esa pantalla grande
What about rendering?
Did you see the room for that gpu,? Nah too bad they don't sell as monitor only
They need to add pivot in base
No architect is gonna use that thing .
Same thing Disney studios said when Pixar was pitching them computers for animation back in the day... and look where we are today.
original artist.
That is a big screen... I use my surface pro 6 for sketch up modeling with pen and I love the size... Unlike this.. It's huge and might be uncomfortable.. For hardcore rendering you need proper graphics ...
Can I play PUBG while rendering a model? 🤣
This is not an architect
Architects use AutoCAD. SketchUp is just user friendly for new 3D artists compared to 3Ds max.
Artist not Architect....
I'm know this good, but the price.
Nice
Microsoft is way innovative which apple can never become under tim.or Microsoft and Samsung is the current apple when apple was under Steve .
Wow! Microsoft just did something good.... a really really good one! 😳
Unlike google with their Pixel 3 with bathtub 🛀 notch! HAHAHHAHHAHAHA
The MSP2 is wildly over-priced, primarily because there is zero way to upgrade. You're stuck with circa mid 2017 tech for years.
She kinda looks like Angelina Jolie's character in the movie Salt.
She is not so much of an Architect. Just half knowledge
Lol she actually uses sketchup? We have it at our school at its such a pain to use 😞 or maybe it's because our school board can only afford the 2016 version 😂
It's brilliant in its simplicity, trust me I'd rather do somthing complex in a simple program then somthing complex in a complex program like 3ds
You need better instructors.
Now think what you can do with a real software like AutoCAD or 3ds max
Yeah 4k is way too much
Without mouse u can’t draw complex/simple design in sketchup .
"Architect"
the only place i can say i'm an architect is in the sims lol
Schools can't afford this lol. Well... Maybe they can because mine isn't industry leading or anything but it has two iMac labs (don't know the configs).
@Luis Alberto Pérez Nájera Apparently not all kids are like you that you are all too familiar with
So, it can afford iMac, but not Surface Studio ?
@@featherinescat Its a different situation. I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to use for anything else so it'd be a pretty niche purchase since the specs aren't the best considering the cost. The iMacs have a multitude of uses so they make sense as a premium buy.
@@featherinescat i am sure they dont know about surface line of product if anything.
@@edwardhoffenheim3249 i will agree with niche purchase but apart from that, you are wrong. It can be used for any number of use.
Video shows us nothing
Get a real architect to do this video!
Her communication skills would lead me not to hire her.
She expressed what she was thinking pretty clearly so I don't get you
And you sound like a nightmare to work for/with
Some people can't watch a video without being a dickwad
and you couldnt afford her services anyway
T ball
Still a layman’s review
And apples recent Innovation.....
Tail finz this product is relevant for about 0.1% of consumers! I mean we could all spend billions on designing something for a tiny tiny minority but real innovation is for the masses. Nothing MS has designed has proved valuable for the mass market and that is not taking into account the extreme costs of The Surface Line. £3500 for this is a joke for nearly every person in the World!
AndyH, how about the Xbox? That's one thing MS designs for the mass market; there are more too. If you could stop being so reactionary, then you wouldn't look so foolish.
There recent innovation is being a near trillion doller company, having the world's most popular products ever and not making useless shits like this.
@@rayray117 Maybe you misunderstood or don't know what the word, innovation means.
@@andyH_England i know at least a few people with the surface laptop, this is a brand new product
I do not recommend it, buy one, after a year of use the screen failed, it is no longer under warranty and at least in Latin America there is no technical service, much less spare parts. Today I have it for decoration.
Shes not an Architect..
what was she drawing ??
4k 🤔🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
More than 4k
i think she is not impressed by that thing
yuck
Poor review.. fails to show any actual applicable uses of a desktop of this caliber in real life application.
Not real architect doing real architect work, thumb down. Artist =/= Architect!!
≠
First
This product is not for architect
