Carson casually dropping the potentially true rumor of Rockingham coming back to the schedule in such a non-chalant way is the most Carson thing I've seen in my life
The "hometown" stretch that you mentioned sounds great for the teams but I wonder if it's a great idea for the fans. Some of those races might be drawing from the same fanbases, so having them so close together might force fans to choose which one they want to go to more than the others. Spreading them out might give those same fans the option to go to more than one.
I thought the same thing. Fans don't travel to races like they used to; it would seem they would be going after the same fans in the Carolinas/Mid-Atlantic region.
Totally agree. Like I never understood why they had Richmond, Martinsville, and Bristol in the same part of the schedule. They are essentially all within a couple hours drive of each other. There's no way they aren't taking away from each others ticket sales.
@@budracing68 sure they do. Maybe not as many show up as when NASCAR was at its peak, but plenty of people are coming to the races. NASCAR mostly tries to improve those numbers by scheduling races when the weather is good, which is probably why Bristol, Martinsville, and Richmond are clumped together at the beginning of the season. NASCAR has also improved attendance at the tracks by dropping second dates at places like Pocono, Michigan, and Texas, which allows them to spread to new tracks like Gateway and COTA. They can probably improve those numbers further by spreading the close races out a bit. I think NASCAR got lazy with the schedule for 20 years because ticket sales became less important than their TV contract, and then they got lazy with that too thinking the next contract would always be bigger.
@@davidklopotoski714 Gateway and COTA are both terrible. Stick to the southeast. If people want to watch they will, if they want to travel to see it they will. Stop going out west, the expense is terrible, the tracks are terrible, along with the fan experience and 30 minutes of on track activities. Less is more as well, cut 12 races off the schedule and end the season in September because they can’t compete with the nfl.
I would love for Rockingham to come back I was lucky enough as a kid to remember watching them race there on TV from 1998-2004 and I remember racing on that track on Nascar Thunder 2003
I've always found the All Star Race to be weird. All star games in other sports makes sense when only 1/15 of your star players are playing at any point. When all your stars race every weekend, every race is an all star race
It made a bit more sense in the 80's when they had only winners make it in, and usually only had 10 or 11 winners each season. With an increase in winners and eligibility, I can see your point because it's basically only the backmarkers who aren't racing in it
Rockingham might be a good track for this car, considering it has high banking. It could be a similar situation to Bristol, with the Intermediate package.
As much as 7 weeks straight of racing around the North Carolina area sounds incredible, it’s really a bad idea. Too much saturation in the area and tracks would be competing for ticket sales with each other because they are fighting for the same fan market. I already am doing the All-Star and Coke 600 back to back and that’s already a ton of money. 7 weeks straight of it would be real tough for the market of it
I love Carson, dude is just so personable and real, leaking the Rock is so on brand Super talented and super aggressive, if he drove for Hendrick he’d win 12 races with 24 DNFS Living embodiment of checkers or wreckers, comparable to Ross Chastain
As someone who really enjoyed racing there in the NASCAR Thunder games of the early 2000's, I really hope Rockingham returns to the NASCAR schedule soon. It's also too bad that its British cousin (the one CART raced on in 2001 & 2002 & was the only oval in the UK) got shut down in 2018 (though the track still exists) as it would have been a great option for Indycar when it comes to adding more ovals on their schedule. Speaking of the UK, I would like to see NASCAR at some point attempt to do a race over there, especially at Brands Hatch (a NASCAR race on the Indy layout of that track would be absolutely entertaining)
I think the biggest issue with Rockingham is market over saturated. This isn’t the 1980s to 1990s Nascar anymore where they could sellout race after race in the southeast. With the return of North Wilkesboro, you now have Bristol, Martinsville, Richmond, Charlotte, and Darlington in the (relatively) small geographical area. Adding Rockingham will only add to that. While i think adding Rockingham would initially be awesome, the fact you have so many tracks close by would be a flop. Nascar can be blamed for this by trying to get away from its roots which made it great. Those fans feel alienated and are more than likely not coming back.
So...Rockingham is having an "open house" at the track this weekend, actually. I live in Raleigh and was at a Bojangles of all places about 8 months ago and saw a guy in a Rockingham Speedway Staff shirt so I started talking to him and he was actually trying to tell me they were going to race there this season (2024) but he wasn't a modern day NASCAR fan and didn't know the schedule for this season had been released pretty much that week. Anyways, I knew it was close. I'm excited. I'll be there. Edit: to clarify, the guy was a current employee at the speedway, not just some guy in a shirt.
I got it! Rockingham... at night... on Easter Night. That way teams won't have to go too far from headquarters after celebrating Easter Sunday. Alternatively do it at North Wilkesboro and run a 400 km race.
Agree that it would be cool to have them all back to back but as a fan that's a lot of money out the door at once 😅 would be nice to have some space between to save up
I want the Rock back, but I'm older, and was watching it on the 80's and 90's. It's a fun track to race in the Sierra NASCAR sims/games. The real live racing was great, only reason they stopped racing there is, because they can't put enough sits in to continue to race there. Back when butts in sits was how you got a date. Now tracks get a portion TV money. NASCAR and MSI don't current own it, but if they were to buy it, then it will be on the schedule. The Rock was track that had great races, and it should be on the calendar if NASCAR really cares about the sport, not just a ton of hype and spectacle.
Would be excited to see The Rock back on the schedule! Next year will start like this: Daytona, Atlanta, Vegas, Rock (old Phoenix 1 date), then like this year....
I'd imagine Hocevar knows a bit more than we do, and at least at my local level it's as simple as just walking up to specific officials and asking. I'm sure NASCAR is at least looking at Rockingham, and perhaps a ton of other tracks we don't even know about, but those inside the Cup Series do, and he's just overplaying it.
Well, after the news broke on Atlanta's second race being moved to June as well as it being on a Saturday night, when it comes to the 2025 NASCAR schedule, even though we've heard that Phoenix will possibly host championship weekend again in 2025, I wish that Homestead-Miami Speedway was hosting championship weekend again, but hopefully, it'll get that chance again in 2026 and if the Chicago Street Race doesn't return, I hope we finally see Chicagoland Speedway return to the sport. Also, when it comes to the Clash, I firmly want to see the event return to Daytona, especially with how we're hearing it might not return to the LA Coliseum next year and I don't know how it could go at Bowman Gray Stadium and I want to see Sonoma as part of the West Coast Swing. All-in-all, in the end, that's all I've got to say, so goodbye!
I'm gonna miss the Clash in LA. The people complaining about it didn't have the chance to attend, and had their perceptions of it ruined by Fox's terrible coverage.
Great Question that you asked in The Pinned Comment The Iceberg. But, What Big Changes Do I think I would want to see on The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Schedule or The Other Two Series? Well, Here I go with That Question that you asked, - Bowman Grey Stadium Maybe for The Clash Race or Back into The Los Angeles Coliesum so Kyle Busch can finally win there or A 1.7-1.9 Road Course around Dodger Stadium for The Clash Race. - Canada Being on The Schedule Obviously at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. - Mexico being on The Schedule for all of It's Three National Series of NASCAR but Unpopular Opinion is, If Mexico do not make it on The Schedule, I Can See Virginia International Raceway The Road Course being on The Schedule, That's only if NASCAR Fails to strike a deal to go International into The Mexican Market and it can fall flat on it's face for Both Canada and Mexico being on The Schedule for Both of Those Two Parties! But, About Virginia International Raceway, They've Raced there for NASCAR Before But, That was for The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East from 2013-2016 and I don't see not Too Many People in The NASCAR Community talking about that Race Track as Much that they should put that race on The Schedule for All Three of It's National Series of NASCAR and that Race Track is Underrated and a Hidden Gem and Since Richmond International Raceway losing a date NASCAR still needs to Race in The Virginia Market. But For Now I can see Mexico being on The Schedule Though. But, Great Video and This Comment is Finished!🙂😎😎
So did the Montreal (Circuit Gilles Villeneuve) talks fall through? Nobody has been talking about it much lately. As a Canadian, I will be really disappointed if it doesn't end up on the 2025 or at least the 2026 schedule.
I don't really care bout Bowman- Grey or all star event. I say eliminate A. S. R. Want to see BOTH Rockingham ( 500 miles- 492 laps) and N. Wilkesboro both a points race.
I think if Rockingham were to come back I could see it as a 2 or 3 year deal as the All Star race like what’s being thought while North Wilkesboro ends up replacing either the spring Bristol date or spring Richmond race. Although once the Rock gets a points date I’d rather see it maybe replace the Charlotte Roval if NASCAR can’t get the Next Gen to put on good races on road courses like years prior with the Gen 6. Ik people want the oval back and I say HELL NO. Either keep it on the Roval or take it to the Rock. Just cause the Next Gen races really well at intermediates doesn’t mean we need 2 dates a year at the same track! As for Bowman Gray as the Clash um no? I’ve gone to a race at Can-Am Speedway (one of my local dirt tracks) on a night where it went from being like 50 or low 60s all day to getting to low 40s or 30s around dusk and all through the night and I absolutely regret staying for that entire time with it that cold, you’re gonna have a lot of people freezing their arses off. We’re also r supposed to get Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and a race in Mexico at some point so those will be nice to see there.
No one should like the 600 being on paid to watch Prime instead of the free to watch for anyone Fox. It isn't a cable vs streaming thing when you are talking about Fox.
I'm with Dale Jr on this one. The All Star Race needs to be in Charlotte, under the lights. North Wilkes absolutely needs at least 1 points race. Totally Yes, bring Rockingham back for at least 1 points race. Richmond, Darlington, Dover, Bristol, Martinsville, New Hampshire, Pocono, Nashville, Watkins Glen, are all important tracks to have in the schedule. Get rid of the ridiculous temporary tracks like Bristol Dirt and LA Coliseum - such a waste of resources, a clear marketing gimmick that doesn't work. While we're at it, bring back Speedweeks. Oh and as always: Abolish the Chase/Postseason, abolish stage racing, and re-introduce a real points system that rewards consistency as well as wins and leading laps. Hell, award 1 bonus point for qualifying on the pole if you want, to incentivize good qualifying. Maybe it's not too late to save the sport. NASCAR should not aspire to be a "Stick and Ball" sport, and it really should not aspire to be the WWE. End Rant.
What big changes do you think we will see on the 2025 NASCAR schedule?

ROCKINGHAM BETTER COME BACK!!!!!!!
No one should like the 600 being on paid to watch Prime instead of the free to watch for anyone Fox. It isn't a cable vs streaming thing when you are talking about Fox.
There's also a rumor that Pontiac is coming back. What's old is new again!
Pontiac has been dead for a long time now.
Pontiac has been bankrupt for over a decade
@@metricccccc GM is wanting to revive the GTO so they might bring back the Pontiac brand
Rockingham should be the all-star race 😊
Ole Hovercar strikes again
I think rockingham and north wb should alternate the all star race
In crafty fashion one of their young guns announces Rockingham on twitch. If true, maybe it’s all by design. Good move NASCAR execs / dale Jr.
End Rant.
You sir spoke no lies 🙌🏽
Why not have the clash at Rockingham???
Anyone else recognize Tsukuba Circuit at the beginning of the video???
