  • Summer of 2007 is when a lifelong dream of owning an Indian Chief Motorcycle became a reality, for better or worse. - (Can't seem to reply to comments so I'll put it here: The word CLASSIC seems to be causing some discussion among people. If you check www.dictionary.com one meaning of the word CLASSIC is: "of enduring interest, quality or style: a classic design; ie. classic clothes." - Another interesting example of the word "CLASSIC" can be found on the Suzuki.com site where they refer to an as-yet unreleased motorcycle as a "CLASSIC" It's the Boulevard C109R which isn't on the market yet - "You've never seen - or experienced - a CLASSIC cruiser like this." they said.)
    UPDATE: I have owned a 2001 "Black and Chrome" Chief for 10 years, now. Bought in Downers Grove, Chicago... and have ridden across America. -- Its on my "cover photo " on RUclips... where I am riding it through Amish Country, in Wisconsin. i.pinimg.com/o...

    The new Indian Motorcycles look like absolute pieces of rolling art! The Vintage Chief is an amazing bike and I wish I had the $37,000 to buy one!

    It had been a lifelong dream to own one. Today I make do with my 3 bikes. A Heritage Softail, a 1500 Intruder (with Chief fenders) and a StarChief (Roadstar with Chief fenders).

    I have a 1999 Chief I purchased it October of 2001 and all of the problems that I hear people have had with thier bike I have not had with mine. But at almost 10 years old the things that you would expect to start happening are starting to happen like busted fuel lines and minor stuff like that but nothing major at all. It is my first and only bike and I love it and will keep it for the rest of my days. I'll try to post a video on my page so you can check it out.

    Hey there Mike, no sorry no rev counter. in the right hands all bikes can outlive us! Pity I can't repair stuff. So I returned it. I have had a 1500 Intruder up here since they came out (98). Great maintenance free bikes.

    I do understand how you are feeling. Thank you for sharing. - For me it was a mixed bag, but I have loved every bike I have ever owned. However it ended each time, the glorious memory of a dream come true remains.

    Hey there. It handled very well but heavy, & great overall. Had to remember that when stopping at traffic lights. I loved everything about the bike except the problems. The bike I came over to buy had bags, 3 front lights & windshield. The problems were specific to THAT bike, probably (not all 2000 Chiefs). Had I known it had been standing for 2 years unsold in the dealer's showroom I would not have been so hasty. I did test drive it before buying, but during that ride the engine performed fine.

    I'm a rider, not a wrench. My 2000 Indian Chief broke down 3 times in the 31 days I had it. It was a non keeper. Now I have a Star Chief and no more problems.

    I hear you! I had a 1100 Shadow for 6 years before the Intruder... I'll send you the link. (They don't allow links on here. - I must have spent a few HOURS last night trying to get it into the reply to you! haha)

    (sorry it won't post long replies) It's probably me, I LOVE to ride it in a higher gear, so the engine sounds lower! haha I do it with the Intruder too! put put put... I COULD have given it some gasin a lower gear, but then it doesn't sound like a monster! The high gear is just MY sound. I also lower the idle rate, so it's borderline shutting OFF... and has done before, at a red light. Good to know you, man.

    I think if you do not understand or do not understand when they refer to a classic bike and the context where you use this word, when you refer to a motorcycle like this.
    will be very hard to explain what we mean, if you're not connected or do not want you to understand and respect one when speaking of a classical model or a classic online. or to a great American classic.
    Your indian motorcycle is a beautiful and always the mark will be a great classic in the world of motorcycles.

    @widndn - Understand you completely! Mine had probably been mistreated and therefore misrepresented in the sale (Only 30 days earlier). I was sad to see it go too, but must admit, it wasn't the Chief I flew over to buy. The other had other issues (broken saddlebag mount, slow to start, backfiring, etc) and ALSO misrepresented in that sale. Just my luck, I guess. I DID enjoy mine while I had it, for sure. A dream come true... even if it didn't last.

    @icelandknight  14 лет назад

    Hey there (sorry for the delay of replying!!!) I have no idea if they will be sold in Italy, but the good news is that IndianMotorcycles (dot com) have started making them again, so they will know more aboiut how you can get one. The bad news is that they cost over $30,000 - and since you could buy a FEW bikes for that amount, with the market situation and amazing OTHER bikes out there, the prospect of buying one does not look as good as the bike does.

    @icelandknight  14 лет назад

    @bigcountrypicker Not really sorry about that, hehe... but as you say, you will have yours soon? So that's good. I wanted for a LONG time to hear & see the bike in action, so was making the most of it while I had it. - I have a few more videos if it in the garage, where it stood, scanning every small detail. but that is how this bike was LOVED, while I had it. Good luck with yours ;-)

    Classic ?
    I have a 1938 Indian.
    It's a classic

    @dhommie1 - I'm sure someone will share their miles per gallon with us, but I couldn't tell you. Especially since it didn't matter that much to me. - While I had this bike, I felt every drop of gas was worth it, since it kept me RIDING! ... Loved it while I had it... and may have another, later. (We'll have to see.)

    More Chief ed bikes here (chief d o t 110mb d o t com). People can keep the reliable bikes they know & love, and slap on the Chief fenders they also love. Perfect.

    No ofence, but your bike is only 7 years old. How is it a classic? It has no connection with the original Indian company (1901 - 1953)

    Sono spiacente, non parlo italiano, ma se abbiate risposto nel enlish io sarei felice di aiutare.
