- In 2018 I went abroad with the Erasmus+ program. I studied at Maynooth University and shared my experiences on the internet. Since then, I got a giant lot of questions about my stay and about the university I went to and when someone suggested to answer them in a video, I took my camera and filmed this video. I hope this answers all your questions about studying abroad. If there is anything you want to add, let us know in the comments!
I'm just a former Erasmus student at Maynooth University. I try to share accurate information to my best ability but I cannot guarantee it, because it's been so long since I left. Im from Straffan which is about 10km from Maynooth. I lived in Maynooth for a few years. Im glad you had a nice time there and that you have such nice things to say about Maynooth and Ireland. I really like Maynooth. Its a nice chilled out place with a good vibe. Much nicer town then a few of the towns close by.... except Straffan of course (:

Great video and helped a lot! Next year I’m going to Maynooth University for Erasmus but my college isn’t giving me any kind of information so this really hit the nail on the head. Although I do have one question: which was the platform you used to get a room? It might seem like a rather silly question but I’m pretty much going blind into this situation😅. I'm not entirely sure though because it's been so long. But I think I found the link on the official site of the university. They have a sub-page dedicated to everything accommodation-related. Maybe you'll find it there :)
I was a student there this year, just an advice if you want to study try to avoid Village Appartments there are a lot of party going on there and of course noises !

Do you maybe know if people didn’t get a room on campus if they found a place to stay outside of campus? This all feels really stressful
I know one person who didn't get a room and then he ended up living with a host family and was really happy with it. I feel you. I was so stressed out too but in the end everything worked out fine!
Hey, ich mache ab September ein Auslandssemester in Dublin und muss jetzt dann meinen Dorm buchen. Hattest du einen roommate? Bin mir nicht sicher ob es mir das Geld wert ist ein Einzelzimmer zu buchen.. Hast du da irgendwelche Tipps?
Nein, ich hatte mein eigenes Zimmer. Die meisten Apartments in Maynooth (soweit ich das beurteilen kann) hatten Einzelzimmer, manche sogar einzelne Bäder. Ich glaube es gab aber auch Mehrbettzimmern, aber darüber kann ich nichts sagen, weil ich da niemanden kannte. Alle Leute, mit denen ich was zu tun hatte, hatten Einzelzimmer. Die Details zu den einzelnen Apartments stehen aber auch auf der Seite der Uni. Vielleicht wirst du da fündig! Stell dich aber drauf ein, dass die Auswahl begrenzt sein wird. Ich weiß nicht, ob sich das mit Covid jetzt ändert und weniger Leute auf dem Campus leben wollen, aber in meinem Semester musste man nehmen, was man kriegt 🤷🏻♀️
Hey, I had one question about the accomodation booking : Do you remember the moment when you had to book your room? Just to have an idea about when the whole process begins ( I don't want to be taken aback ). Oh, and btw, your video is very useful, thank you for making it.
I actually do because I filmed a 2nd channel video that day. I started my semester in the middle of September and had to booked my room in the beginning of June. Might be slightly different depending on the semester though, just as a rough timeframe. Thank you for your comment! 🤗

I'm sorry. I don't remember. It also really differs depending on the type of room. But back then they had the prices on their website. They probably still do, so maybe you can find it there! Hope that helps!
