Of course, Asian servers have even better players.
this is NA server. NA server is known to be easy in any game. Try going korean or SEA server.

Its funny about how recent balance discussions talk about how the Queen can do a bit too much for Zerg in the early game, but then this guy comes in and ... just walks them straight into the clearly drawn out targeting circle and loses them all.
In his defence, there isn't a danger sign inside the circle.
balance discussions seem to be focused at the very highest skill level. IODIS reports are, or seem to be, from a much lower skill level. 😁
There's this ongoing joke in World of Warcraft, that random circles in the ground grant you haste and you should step on them all to get stat buffs. Maybe this guy was trying get the queen to hasten up outside creep.

yea, they one-shot larvae when you morph in drones to the mineral line around your spire....
Love the advice about building queens because they dont need larvae and droning. I find myself in this situation all the time. Epiphany, more queens. Thanks, Captain!
I've learned so much watching the Captain's videos.
Queens for Zerg are like turning a computer off and on again for tech problems. If in doubt, try adding more queens. It's very likely to fix your problems.
I have a buddy that can't get that epiphany... I keep telling him queens he keeps building roaches... I keep roflstomping him with voids... and he can't figure out why :*(
@@anjhindul Roaches are not a very good counter to void rays. Pretty sure about that.

I think this is the first ever Starcraft 2 game where the Zerg manages to contain himself until the Terran shows up with 12 hellions 😂
I want to point out that penny didn't just proxy a reactored starport, penny also proxied there third base right next to the starport because terranmaster (which i assume is meant to sound like they dominate terrans) didn't even consider the possibility of sending his 27 zerglings to go kill the proxy starport.
The best part anout this was that it was completely and utterly unnecessary to proxy anything in this game since zerg didnt even bother scouting the terran base.
@@LostOnceLefthanded there's a difference between "hidden" stuff and "proxied" stuff. Proxies are about the proximity, as the name explicitly says. Proxies are close to the enemy.
Hidden stuff is to keep your opponent ignorant. The starport was too far away to be deemed a proxy. Did it even save 5% of travel time?
@@JaharNarishma I was merely referring to it as proxy to stay consistent with Harstem calling it proxy. I am aware it's not close to enemy base.

Top 3 tips:
• Don't build overlord speed when you have 0 defense and you already know enemy is going full on liberators.
• Don't build air attacks +1 without a single air unit.
• Don't build 16 zerglings before 3 mins just because you saw an empty bunker.

as a not good player, on NA. I have not ever played serious enough to get good, but... this is like medium AI level gameplay lol. no way they are in diamond lol thats MAYBE gold. maybe
As I am a Gold-Flailer, happily bumbling around the Starcraft 2 game, this video gave me hope and showed that I may just end up in Diamond league by accident. I don't even have to learn anything - just keep smacking my face into every obstacle as I accidently land up with higher MMRs.
Well, it is a strat... Although it's definetely ineficient.
I'm 3k and if I ended up against this kind of builds, I would definetely win in about 3min and a half but then again, if yoi're 3.5k, it probably means that this is either one of his worst games ever, or he's actually jist bought his account or got boosted, no way you get to 3.5k playing like this, that or NA is way worse than I thought

Okay, the look at harstems face at 14:45 when he sees, that +1 starts killed it for me...hahaha this is so great. I also do not understand the mind of such people. I mean its like really playing like a bot. Not reacting at all to what is happening at the game. It is so interesting that in sc2 at low levels the people lack so many different things. You can have really slow gamer but who exactly knows what to do but cannot keep up and then a fast one who just wastes apm and does random things, helarious :D.

Except that's not how the SC2 ladder works, diamond being the widest in terms of mmr difference between low diamond 3 and high diamond 1.
If I'm not mistaken, essentially 50% of the player base is in diamond
@@seriouscasualgamer9580 I'm not a statistician or very familiar with how StarCraft 2's MMR system works, so I can't even begin to explain this data, but rankedftw shows current player distribution across leagues. While Diamond consistently has the most players, it's only around 25% of the total playerbase, followed by Silver with another 20%, except for in Korea where there's more Platinums than Silvers, and weirdly (or maybe not) NA where there's a .03% difference between the number of Masters and Diamonds. I think Blizzard may have designed the rankings to have some consistency rather than being based around the averages of the playerbase, otherwise Gold would consistently have the highest number of players being the average, but it doesn't.

I zoned out while playing a game and got snapped back in at "I have a domesticated hamster in my basement that I let out of its cage occasionally and he'll nudge my mouse and produce a better build order than whatever garbage you're showing me here" and I was not prepared for that.

Man I didnt play Starcraft in a while but this looks more like my Gold games back in 2017 then a Dimond game in 2022.
This 2 players are actually evolving, just well backwards.
I agree with your suspicions that his must be a staged replay. I wouldn't expect to get past Gold 3 if I played zerg like this. There is no way this is 3500 MMR, I heard NA is a little easier than EU (my personal NA experience didn't confirm this) but there's no way it's THAT much easier.
the players in NA are a bit worse, but personally I think EU is easier, because NA is so chaotic and cheesy and EU is pretty much just all macro play from what I see.
Hard to say, it could be legit. I'm 4,500MMR Zerg (M3 on NA). Its very easy to get to 3,500MMR without any build knowledge and maintain that rank, because Protoss and Terran build execution at that level is also garbage.
I think this is just a case of someone who probably plays much better in normal games - however, here they were put in an uncommon scenario and just improvised poorly.

I don't know about the Terran strat but he played really random stuff. Not much strategy besides "somehow proxy a startport, hope your opponent doesn't scout and spam Liberators until you're back in the game"

Yeah I don't believe it either. The Zerg's queen micro is worse than mine and I'm plat with Z. Some of this bad decision making is par for the course, like way over building lings, but letting 2 libs kill 3 queens is gold tier micro. Another thing that doesn't gel is the decision to get all of the extractors. Like, sure, build the spores, build the spine, whatever, but at this juncture our guy had gas in the bank (that he never spent) and like 24 drones.
I haven't played since Wings of Liberty, was a Zerg main who only plat and this seems to just be sad. It's like thee is no response happening.
I see gold and plat players that are better but hard stuck in the metal leagues because they don't know how to respond to cheese. And in the metal leagues? It's more than 75% cheese (believe me, I know)
@@deception7982 Yeah the only thing I can say in this guy's favor is that maybe his bad over reaction to cheese completely threw off his mental state, but still, I would expect someone with better MMR than I have to be able to micro as well as I can even if the decision making is bad. Watching that third queen suicide into the lib while he was looking at it was just so painful.

I have answers:
- He figured he lost a bunch of drones so considered rebuilding those a priority.
- He made a new gas in his base because he believed he couldn't mine from the others, and he believed gas was important to make something I guess.
- Queens can at least shoot up so even if he feeds them at least they do damage.

As an NA diamond zerg, this does feel staged. I know I'm not great, but holy hell am I not this bad and neither are my opponents.
without a doubt. Clicking queens one by one into the liberation zone and literally watching them die was too much. That, and the +1 flyer attack with zero air units when one air unit was all he needed the entire game thing, cant be real.
This looks like all my ladder games, this is how SC is played in the dungeons of the lower medal leagues.
I turtled and massed libs one day cause the zerg was sitting on 4 base making mutas guardians the whole thing hide 3 mines under a tank he blew up his mutas on the mines then I sent in my libs and demolished his air fleet in like 2 volleys then set up on ALL of his hatcheries and he couldnt produce units while I mopped him up with marines. Was glorius.

Shot answer: yes liberators can shut down unit production for zerg, but thats what queens are for.
