Your videos are so lovely to watch and so refreshing, you don't shout and scream when your horse refuses, you do it again, give her lots of encouragement and she trusts you and its just so lovely to see how much she trusts you, its like she's saying "ooo mam I'm not sure" and you bring her round give her lots of enthusiasm and after that she'll go over it again and again! :) Very well done!
A delightful video. reminds of my old days in the 1970's. Awesome attitude displayed by both of you. the ramp that is a drop fence would have shaken me even in my flexible and nimble days! Again, a pleasure to watch. thanks for posting
Thanks, things have changed so much in this modern era of health and safety (which is good of course)... Good that there are still some brown underwear courses out there! :)
Attack of the llamas xD But seriously, she did amazingly!! You are such a great rider! You tell her she's good when she is, but you don't get mad at her when she gets confused or scared. Perfect round, in my opinion :) great job to both of you!
Thank you Annie! I do try not to let any anger into my riding (although that's not always as easy as it sounds). I guess you just have to make the most of what the horse gives you on the day... even if they are naughty (and they are all are sometimes), how you react to that is the significant thing! Thanks for watching :D
I know this is an old video, but I love this! You are such a great rider, and you and Pigeon obviously have a great bond! You rode all the scary bits so well! :)
By watching your video's, you have taught me that if you fail once, you dont cry like a baby. You get your crap together and get it right. And thats why I love watching you and your horse because even though there may be a few refusals here and there, you'll get it right the next time. Job well done. :)
Hi karis. I just use cheap overreach boots (never have found expensive ones that really fit pige) and premier equine XC boots. I used to use brushing boots though which be fine for your first schooling session! xx
She doesn't seem to like the bristle jumps, as ive noticed in the past few videos i've seen. and your very lucky to have such a wonderful horse! she's beautiful! :)
Came across your channel purely by accident today looking for GoPro videos! (Coincidently I want to get one for my horsie travels!), loving your hack cams too :) when I saw you only live up the road from me I had to check out your channel and wow, some epic vids you have! Pigeon is gorgeous and watching this video in particular brings back some lovely memories, I went to BCA many moons ago, keep up the great footage! :)
You are so right on that one! I do not take it granted... Love this horse - although I think we make a good team as well. Perhaps she wouldn't be as brave with someone else in the driving seat? Who knows!
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm having a quite couple of weeks now... plus the UK weather is taking a turn for the worst! Hope to get out to some hunter trials before the winter really sets in and we start on the constant dressage and show jump schooling! :)
Her weight can vary a lot (she can really blow up from spring grass for instance). She can also get very fizzy on too much sugery foods. So I keep it simple with as much hay as she wants, and some light chaff (no added molasses) and a slow release competition mix. She gets a few carrots or apples and some garlic, oil and echinacea as supplements! Feed is a nightmare... but that seems to work for Pigeon at the moment!
I so want to try a course like that. Hopefully I will get to go with my barn the next time they go. I've never done cross country. only show jumping. :( Love your horse! and your horse did more jumps then mine would have. lol mine would be refusing for like every jump xD
wow your so inspirational I watch your videos and think wow I want to do that someday and pigeon and you work so well toughether and I love how you always give her praise and talk to her you are just amazing and so is your channel 😍😍😍
Thanks Marjet - much love back to Holland from the UK :) Pigeon took off very early on that jump which made me laugh (I was left behind so far that you get to see my feet briefly)... hahaha, I'd forgotten that one :)
Hi!! I love your videos so much! Like seriously so much! Pigeon is the super cute. And you've just hit 11,000 subs!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!! I started watching your vids when you had like 7,000 subs. You also inspired me to buy my own helmet cam and make RUclips vids. I just wanted to say how much of a fan I am and congrats on 11,000 subs. You and pigeon are amazing 😍❤️
Great riding!!! I think my favorite part is when your jumping off the bridge thingy and as your coming up to your like, "holy f***" lol best part right there. But you jumped it really well. :)
Yep... oil and garlic mixed with the hard feed because I'm old fashioned like that! And a bit of salt if she's worked hard and got very sweaty in summer (although she has a salt lick and will self medicate)!
Can't remember now... Probably wouldn't have called about her (there was no photo and only a short description) but a person on our yard knew about her and recomended her (thankfully) x
Thank you! This is the original GoPro HD Helmet Hero. They are great helmet cameras - really tough and fully waterproof (which is good for xc when there's always the chance of being dumped in the water)! :)
Money, time etc! When a good horse is going to waste why not let someone else enjoy them - she was just out in the field for about a year before I got her... Lots of work to get her fit again, but it was well worth it :-)) Just wish we had the weather now - xc comp this weekend is cancelled... again :(
Better to ask and if you want to change their feed do it slowly. I changed Pigeon's feed by gradually reducing the original and introducing the new feed. Just better to be safe - you don't want the horse getting sick (their digestive systems can be quite sensitive) x
Thank you for the lovely feedback! I do try to show Pigeon and myself 'warts and all'... if it was perfect every time there would be no challenge and no point in practising! Thanks again :) x
Hey, I was wondering, what camera do you use on your helmet? I tried it on with a GoPro Hero 4, but it was too heavy... I would really like to know, if you (or anyone) could tell me😊
You'll find something... don't give up! What about looking for a loan or someone who wants a sharer to get you started? Yes, Pigeon is an Irish Sport Horse (tb x id) amd she is more on the tb side of the breed.
ive been riding for ages, and im looking for a horse of my own, i can find any ;( is pigeon more on the thoroughbred side? is she bred with thoroughbred/irishdraught? thanks.
Have a look on their website (just google horse and hound). That will tell you about getting the mag sent to your house and most of the horses for sale are on the website. Horse Hunter is another good website for buying horses! Good luck x
You are so lucky to have found a horse like pigeon. My horse would have me off at the first jump. Can I ask where you live because I would love to go to a cross country area like this but there aren't any near me
Anaislovesbeauty12 Ah, thank you (I'm not so hot, just lucky to have a good horse), and thanks for watching. I work as a finance officer in Kellogg College (part of the University of Oxford) to pay for Pigeon at the moment... until I get a better offer ;-)
You comment away my dear. Sorry to be late to respond... You'll know me at comps - the one on the pretty (and crazy) bay mare with a camera on her helmet! lol
lol i loved the "good god why am i doing the bigger one"

"Oh god why am I doing the bigger one" :'D Exactly what I said when my sister kept telling me to do this big jumps haha, well done by the way!
It is so nice to see how much she enjoys it, and how much she listens to you. Truely a great bond between the two of you! :)

I love how you always reassure her and tell her that she is a good girl. I can tell you really love her!!!!
when she refuses the kinda goes "ooh that's kinda scary.. oh was I supposed to do that mum? sorry." -next try- "WEEE!"
Attack of the llamas xD
But seriously, she did amazingly!! You are such a great rider! You tell her she's good when she is, but you don't get mad at her when she gets confused or scared. Perfect round, in my opinion :) great job to both of you!

you should make a video with you tacking up, catching, basically a day in pigeons riding life!!
Your an amazing rider! You get your strides right at every fence!:)
Lol - not every time, you can take my word for it! Thanks for watching ;-)
I know this is an old video, but I love this! You are such a great rider, and you and Pigeon obviously have a great bond! You rode all the scary bits so well! :)
Thank you! The easy fences we stop at but the novice ones Pigeon pops like they are cross poles... typical, lol :)
By watching your video's, you have taught me that if you fail once, you dont cry like a baby. You get your crap together and get it right. And thats why I love watching you and your horse because even though there may be a few refusals here and there, you'll get it right the next time.

ItsCece yup
"Uuuh God! Why am I doing the bigger one!! Lolololo I died XD You are such an awesome rider and your horse as well!!
The first time my mare saw a llama she was like, "The fuck is you?" flipped out and ran. Lol
Keara Swanson Hahaha... whereas the llamas are always so interested like, 'What kind of llama are you? Wanna be friends?' :-)

Wowee this video is so old!! I just love you two.
I was nervous for you at that drop jump thing omg I was like frozen crossing my fingers

"Who wants to jump the lower fences??? Let's go higher!" - Pigeon thoughts!
Thanks Marjet - much love back to Holland from the UK :) Pigeon took off very early on that jump which made me laugh (I was left behind so far that you get to see my feet briefly)... hahaha, I'd forgotten that one :)
"Oh God why am I doing the bigger one?" Actually me entering the 2'6 class instead of 2'3

Hi Pippy! I heard about Pigeon locally through a friend although she was advertised in Horse and Hound aswell. Hope you are well? x
Yep... oil and garlic mixed with the hard feed because I'm old fashioned like that! And a bit of salt if she's worked hard and got very sweaty in summer (although she has a salt lick and will self medicate)!

Thanks again Ashley... I'm hopefully out XC schooling next weekend so I should have more fast and fun action to share soon :0)
I dream to have an ISH someday and do XC or even eventing with them. Would love to be as good as you and Pidge, but it'll be a few years yet I think.
Can't remember now... Probably wouldn't have called about her (there was no photo and only a short description) but a person on our yard knew about her and recomended her (thankfully) x

if i bought a new horse, would i have to ask the previous owner what he/she was fed? or could i just feed him/her anything that is suitable (:
Wish I was as brave. Great riding and lovely horse
