You should rank Virgin Games at some point! Lots of great licenced games like Aladdin, Lion King and Robocop vs Terminator! You should also take a look at Treasure!
John I just wanna say you have been killing it lately with all your videos. I binge watch your channel everyday and enjoy all your videos. Don't ever stop.
This is some great content John! I really enjoy how you give a brief history and cover what the game could have improved upon. Looking forward to seeing you hit 100k!
Super Street Fighter 2 on the Genesis was the first Street Fighter game I ever owned. I'd played SF2:SCE edition at my friends house but a $70+ game was tough for my parents at the time so I ended up getting SSF2 for my birthday a bit later on. That said, despite it's limitations on sound and color, it played as awesome as any home port and I enjoyed the hell out of it.
I love your videos and, most of all, your amazing passion for collecting video games. I admire what you’re doing and the dream of opening a museum to give back. Keep up great work brother!
Jumbo and The Scorpion were unlockable in the SNES Version of Saturday Night Slammasters and Zangief is referenced as one of the Russian wrestlers trainers.
This was a great ranking system and a great choice of games. I've never played megaman wily wars or the punisher so those are some great choices to try. Awesome review. Keep up the great job John!
Thanks John for the S on Super Street Fighter, most of the people talks only of Champion Edition, but for me Super was the real stuff, a great color palette, improvements, music and new characters. Really thank you.
Hell yeah the Punisher! people often trash that game but i remember looooving it pricey tho these days lol PS: Thank you so much for the great content! your opinions are always refreshing; i love how unfiltered you are. Grateful to be reminded of these nostalgic genesis treats!
Love Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition. I remember going to a game store grand opening about 2 years ago and some guys were playing SCE on a Genesis. I decided to play against some of the guys. I had a 3 button controller and my opponents had a 6 button controller. I won 4 times and lost 2 times. They thought I wasn't bad. Being a good soul, I gave them good sportsmanship and said, "You did good, man."
Jumbo and Scorpion were playable characters in the multiplayer mode on the Slam Masters SNES Version. I have the Super Famicom cardridge wich is called Muscle Bomber.
I recently learned how to program games. Since I'm a big Genesis fan, I want to make more games for the console (Along CD and 32X). I already have a few projects in the works
Great list. I definitely prefer Street Fighter on the Genesis, simply because the controller IMO is more geared toward fighting games. Wish Capcom had released more games on the Genesis. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
Thank you for the video John!!! I enjoy your content very much. Wow I thought Capcom had a lot more games published for the Genesis. What about Strider? Wasn't that a Capcom game? Take care and stay safe
Sega Channel was around $15 a month but that was 1995 so it's more like $25 a month in today's money. Not sure if there was a installation fee but I was very privileged to have it and it felt like the future. It's something I want to recreate but with flashcarts it seems silly! I'd have to design a custom PCB with speciality chips and it'd be quite expensive plus take a lot of time develop. It would be cool though!
I have a Megadrive mini and a SNES mini. Regarding SF II, it seems to me that Champion Edition on the MD has bigger sprites, but SF II Turbo on the SNES mini has better sound. The voices on the MD sound almost underwater. MD sprites with SNES sound would be the ideal pairing.
the fan made game rom patches for color, music and voice sound FX patches for Street Fighter II Champion Edition and Super Street Fighter II fix the major audio and visual weaknesses of the Genesis versions and so the patched roms are 1000x better than the commercial release, and is what I play on my Wonderemega console via the Mega Everdrive X7
I love Capcom and I love Sega so interesting to see this review. Was Saturday Night Slam Masters a licensed game? Just wondering how likely it is we’ll get a re-release at some point like we did with all the SF and Beatemup games
I have never seen or heard of the Circus Mystery Mickey Mouse Game. It looks like it could be a sequel to Castle of Illusion. Does it have similar game mechanics?
I'm glad to see SSF2 on the mega drive getting some love. It's an awesome port, other than the scratchy voice samples, it's got the arcade feel to it. SF2:SCE is also very good, I personally prefer it over the snes because the 6 button controller is better than the snes controller. Also there are little things on both ports sound that I like a lot more than the snes ports, such as the music carrying over on ssf2 between rounds, and the more accurate knock out groans on the mega drive on both games
What do you think of the fan fix for Street Fighter 2 SC? Too be perfectly honest, I think it not only plays better (faster) than the Snes but with the expanded colors and fixed speech it actually creams it. I think it is the closest to the arcade you can get on a 16-bit machine.
have you seen the SF2 and SSF2 improvement hacks by Lord Hiryu and Pyron? they fix a lot of the graphics and sound issue. some would argue its on par or better than the SNES version after it!
Scorpion and Jumbo are both playable on the SNES version of Saturday Night Slammasters, I play as them quite often....more so scorpion over jumbo but yeah. Cant remember if they need to be unlocked or not but I do know 100% both of those characters are playable on the SNES version. Question for you, will you be doing a ranking for more Capcom games on other consoles? :) Capcom is way up there as one of my favorite video game companies.
Always really enjoyed SF2: Special Champion Edition and though it was much better than the SNES original, but I honestly didn't even know about Super on the Genesis.
Today I learned in 2020 The Punisher was on Genesis. I love this game but then I looked on eBay and saw it was $400. Guess I'm playing the emulator version. I beat this in the arcade at Ocean City Maryland back when it was out in the arcades.
I think the Punisher port just used an overly small rom size and was perhaps rushed, you can get very close to the original's look with the genesis palette.
I remember getting Street Fighter 2 on the Super Nintendo for Christmas and I remember for the next year or two while I was really into the game my mother always telling me how she regretted me buying it because she would always hear me from the other room screaming and yelling at the television and throwing my controller (because you know that's the secret to winning all video games is throwing your controller at the tv) and she would tell me how she always regretted buying me in because of how mad I would get at the video game when I lost or I thought something was unfair in the video game. She always would tell me how she regretted buying me the game because of how upset I would get at the game. Writing this now it got me thinking gamers are the only people who can sit there and be totally pissed off at their games and yet while they're continuing to be spanked in the game I'm getting more mad will refuse to quit the game no matter how upset they're getting. And if you try to step in the way of a gamer while he's at that point in his video game rage well you brought that wrath on yourself. Even in spite of being Miss upset in this mad they would still claim that they're having fun.
Many people don't realize that Capcom didn't handle anything on the Genesis themselves until Street Fighter 2. At the same time, the games that they licensed to Sega are so iconic that people assume Capcom made those versions, so some of the comments are expected. Regarding Street Fighter 2, I played the Genesis version(SCE) first and intended to get it, but some time passed and I picked up a Super Nintendo and ended up with both the original game and Turbo. So Turbo is the one that I had and played most. However, I ended up liking Special Champion Edition more. Even including the PC Engine version of SF2 Champion Edition, I think it's fair to say that each version has some positive things going for them. While the Genesis version has the common issues related to the limited on-screen color palettes and the scratchy voices, those issues aren't so big for me. I prefer the music overall in the Genesis version, it has some background graphics missing from other versions, and it feels a bit better in action to me. But the big thing is the music. The SNES has some good music, but the soundtrack is uneven. Guile's stage may have the best music, but I'd rather hear the original arcade version or something closer. My problem with the SNES game is that some of the music, or portions of some tracks, strikes me as rather bad. Ken's stage music is awful, in my opinion, which is something I've heard other people say too so I'm not along. And I know some who like that version too. In the end, they're quality ports.
I would say the Snes version of Street Fighter 2 Turbo is in the Championship Edition's shadow and I'll tell you why. Indy developers have fixed Capcom's shoddy work and now everything about the Genesis port is better. The graphics, frame rate, voice work, color, more detailed backgrounds, and two stars faster makes it the defacto 16-bit version of the original set (SF2/SF2SC/SFT2T). It's the same for Super Street Fighter 2...and with that perfect 6-button setup it's a 10.
It seems that regardless of console or generation that Capcom is always a very safe bet for some quality games
thats right
M a
Strider, Forgotten Worlds, MERCS, and Ghouls n Ghosts were published by SEGA and not Capcom for Genesis.
Wasn’t chiki chiki boys made by capcom?
@@dimebagdarrell2390 Yes. The console version was published by Sega the original arcade title is called Mega Twins.
@@chaseman94 ah cool. I love the console version. How come he didn’t mention it on this comment?
And Chiki chiki boys, Mercs and Final Fight Cd was published by Sega itselft.
toy story ?

Love the way you're reviewing the games by the publishers!
OMG so close to the youtube 100k play button, congrats bro!
Hey john i just want you to know how much I appreciate your wonderful videos, great demeanor, and consistent positivity. I hope you have a great 2021.
That is a very solid list of games. I was surprised they only made 6 games for the genesis. Great video
Keep all the videos up im loving them from the UK...
Good video quality, i like that you show games on screen , thank you
I typically do on these longer format videos.
Super Street Fighter 2 on the Genesis was the first Street Fighter game I ever owned. Good old Capcom, my very first gaming publisher I played from the start.
I love your videos and, most of all, your amazing passion for collecting video games. I admire what you’re doing and the dream of opening a museum to give back. Keep up great work brother!
I love all your ranking videos John. Your point of view on video games is pretty cool!
Glad you like them!
The immortal John Hancock has arrived
Great example of quality, not quantity.
*Strider made by SEGA is a great CAPCOM game too!* ⭐️
Not published by Capcom though.
Love the publisher/creator ranking series. great way to examine classic gaming
Thanks for all the great videos buddy 🙏
Haha remeber spending lots & lots of coins on the punisher arcade back in early/mid 90s : )
Jumbo and The Scorpion were unlockable in the SNES Version of Saturday Night Slammasters and Zangief is referenced as one of the Russian wrestlers trainers.
I was going to reply this as well. Thanks
Love these rankings. Keep going bro!
Super Street Fighter 2 on Genesis! That was a huge chunk of my childhood. Still excellent
Ya always make me smile John. Stay true to the Game.
I can't imagine what the Retro Gaming scene would look like without Capcom.
congrats at almost 100K
Thank you!!
This was a great ranking system and a great choice of games. I've never played megaman wily wars or the punisher so those are some great choices to try. Awesome review. Keep up the great job John!
Thank you for the awesome nostalgic content.

Another excellent video Mr. Hancock, thank you for posting these great videos, they help me to keep my focus during these trying times. God Bless you.
I loved playing Wily Wars on the Sega Channel back in the day. I really should get that on a physical cart one of these days.
Thank you for mentioning Saturday Night Slam Masters! I think it's the most underrated game ever other than Rogue Galaxy
"Who's the leader of the club that's made for you and me....M-i-c-k-e-y M-o-u-s-e" - Full Metal Jacket (1987)
Hell yeah the Punisher! people often trash that game but i remember looooving it
pricey tho these days lol

Saturday Night Slam Masters was always so fun to play!
Been waiting for this! :)
Great video of some fantastic Genesis games
Glad you enjoyed
Excellent video. I'll be searching for the punisher game.
Nice video, like always!

I dont remember Jumbo, but The Scorpion was def playable in the SNES version of SNSM. I used to play that alot with my friends.
Great list. I definitely prefer Street Fighter on the Genesis, simply because the controller IMO is more geared toward fighting games. Wish Capcom had released more games on the Genesis.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
Did you put contacts in John? I know in your past videos you wore glasses, just curious 🤨? Great vid! Are you gonna do an Ljn review?
Thank you for the video John!!! I enjoy your content very much. Wow I thought Capcom had a lot more games published for the Genesis. What about Strider? Wasn't that a Capcom game? Take care and stay safe
Read pinned post.
Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting is my favorite version of the game as well, might have been first SF game i played in the 90s.
Huge fan of these Sega Genesis ranking videos! Would love to see an EA video
Sega Channel was around $15 a month but that was 1995 so it's more like $25 a month in today's money. Not sure if there was a installation fee but I was very privileged to have it and it felt like the future. It's something I want to recreate but with flashcarts it seems silly!

The Super Nintendo does have Jumbo & Scorpion in Saturday Night Slam Masters. I literally played it last week 🧐
Didn't realize there were so few Capcom games on the Genesis. You should do an Accolade one. Sidenote - thanks for turning down that bell
Capcom made up for this with the Sega consoles that followed, the Saturn and the Dreamcast had a bunch of Capcom titles on them.
Nice vid! Riggs Inspired? ;)
i learn so much watching these videos , i some reason was thinking mega man was made by nintendo
You really like the Sega Genesis Capcom Games !!! I agree with you!!
I was just thinking of capcom genesis games the other day. Same with konami. Great list man!
Good video! of Capcom games for the the Sega Genesis! I always liked the Punisher! game for the Sega Genesis!

It good to see Haggar doing good! I heard he went downhill after catching that cocaine charge and mollesting sheep...
You can use Scorpion and Jumbo in the SNES version, maybe it was only in the tag team mode, but I was always Jumbo and my brother was always Titan.
Street fighter was a classic, I couldn't believe I was going to have this game at home
I absolutely love Wiley Wars and people give it crap. Beating them unlocks the cool tower. I agree with this!
You should do ranking videos of all consoles
Hancock is gonna review the Street Fighter II games from Genesis? LET'S GO

I wanna play that wrestling game. It looks tremendous.
All of them look like the type of game I'd enjoy playing I think I had more fun on my old consoles than I do on my new one
These days, you can get the reproduction cart of Wily Wars in America...
I got 2 different ones. They don't work as good as the game does on the GENESIS MINI.
Slammasters does have jumbo and scorp but only in the tag mode...which is the best mode so the snes one is one of my favorite all time games.
That's a sick hat! I want one!
Glad to play Wily Wars on the mini console
I love Capcom and I love Sega so interesting to see this review. Was Saturday Night Slam Masters a licensed game? Just wondering how likely it is we’ll get a re-release at some point like we did with all the SF and Beatemup games
Nice video love from India
I have never seen or heard of the Circus Mystery Mickey Mouse Game. It looks like it could be a sequel to Castle of Illusion. Does it have similar game mechanics?
Its the sequel to magical quest.

Man, CAPCOM only released six games on the Genesis? I only had the first SF II they released on the Genesis. I loved playing it on my Nomad.
You should collaborate with John Riggs to rank all games published by Sega for the Sega Genesis.
One thing I do with these games that just have music, is I put on headphones and listen to rock music. 😀
I did this growing up with my Walkman .
@@johnhancockretro those were the days 😎👍
have you seen the SF2 and SSF2 improvement hacks by Lord Hiryu and Pyron? they fix a lot of the graphics and sound issue. some would argue its on par or better than the SNES version after it!

Always wanted to play The Punisher, the cart if well over 100 bucks though

Great video, but you left out 3 good Capcom games and these are Ghouls n ghost, Forgotten worlds and Strider. Greetings!!
And if you research, you will find that those games were all published by Sega.
I love Saturday Night Slam Masters! I was disappointed with the deathmatch. I have to have a 2nd player 😔. I usually have to play by myself.
Super Nintendo had Jumbo and Scorp! Man, Jumbo had the most vicious kicks!
What about Mercs? Or was that not published by Capcom?

I own slammasters on snes and you can play as jumbo and scorpion in the tag mode. Not sure if you can play them as singles in the Sega version
I hate to ask this but why is strider not on this list? p.s. other than that, great video.
that punisher game is commanding some outrageous prices on Ebay. I mean it is a good arcade port but damn....
Even on the Sega Genesis, Capcom seemed like they could not do no wrong
Waited for this video! God bless you mr. Hancock! Nonetheless, the punisher is S. And yes better than streets of rage! There i said it... 😉
Hey John, do you know why Capcom published so many more games for the SNES?
I'm sent here from metal Jesus. I'm one of the first HR of comments!!! Yeah!!!
