with interlocking bricks, you don't need mortar. Why are your bricks male and female coupling part is too small? it should be 10mm or more to replace use of mortar
I saw the other day in a construction nothing was been applied or brushed between the bricks. Is this the correct way of installation, the arhitect say nothing is required. Once the wall is completed they would fill the gaps.

Its waste of timee using this type, no need cement mortor for interlock, there is not much difference the way of working here as same like normal brick methods

Thin mortar bed should be thick enough to compensate for dimensional tolerances of the bricks. Brushing up a bit of cement doesn't do the job.
