Tachanka (Russian: Tачанка), sometimes labelled Song of the Tachanka (Russian: Песня о Тачанке, romanized: Pesnya o Tachanke) is a Soviet revolutionary song from the late Interwar period, composed by Konstantin Listov and written by Mikhail Ruderman in 1937. It describes an unnamed battle in the Russian Civil War and the Tachankas, or machine-gun carts, that were used by the Red Army at the time. The song underwent several lyrical changes over the years, and features in the repertoire of the Red Army Choir and Leon Lishner.

We used to sing this song at school in the late 1990s. Either our music teacher didn't want to change the material or she was communist. Much nostalgia.. 😏🥰
Our kids are still singing Soviet songs today.

I love the tachanka of the leader of the black army. Nestor Mahno had a tachanka with 2 singns "you won't escape us alive" at the front, and "(censoredword) you will never catch up with us" at the back.

The thumbnail painting really conveys the vastness of the steppe, and how grand it must have been to fight on either side when young! Whether White or Red, they both fought for an ideal, however mistaken...
