What Rob and Ryan have done for Wrexham, all within the rules, is exactly what fans of every team in every sport dream their owners or chairmen would do. Fair play to them! And beyond that, they’ve helped bring global attention to the lower leagues. I’ve even met Notts County and Stockport fans in the U.S. who only started following the EFL in the last two years! We have had 2 near disastrous owners in 2004 and 2011. Then fans ran the club and passed it to Rob and Ryan. They are the only owners ever to give support to the club that has made a proper impact in 160 years. Their support has been matched by fans investment by filling up the stadium every game since the pandemic. With crowds of at least approximately 9 thousand for the last four years and now nearly 13 thousand
English football is religion. The "faithful" believe that if you want it bad enough, and believe hard enough.. that divine intervention and the universe finally rewarding suffering will somehow provide a football club a championship. It is all very catholic in its foundation... one must suffer to be rewarded. Well, the truth is, money wins championships, good decision making wins trophies. And 2 Americans coming in and demonstrating this while removing the curtain between OZ and the world is just too much for some people to handle. They ARE honoring the town of Wrexham and are improving the lives of those living there by increasing local revenue AND giving them something to cheer for on a Saturday. Its Capitalism that wins championships, not the amount of kit you own or the amount you scream in the stands and passion you have for your club. That means absolutely NOTHING in the Win and Loss column. The only thing controversial is that English football fans took this long to wake up to reality. Sorry if they didn't pick your club to buy. Go start another fight in the town down the street with another clubs fans if you need to feel like the value of your life depends on your clubs performance, beat another human to show them they are less than you because who they chose to support if that is what it takes to make your life feel worth while. Wrexham won the lottery, and they are moving past all of that thanks to two Americans. Until English football puts Salary CAP rules in place, it will always be this way.
How many you can stream through the turnstiles, their passion and how loud they are DOES have a direct affect on match outcomes. Wrexham's '12th man' makes them near invincible at Y Stok Cae Ras.
I thought that is what new owners are supposed to do. Is to make your club great and win matches. And move up. Plus Ryan and Rob have done nothing but a great job for the club and the town.
Wrexham fan here: great video. Fair explanation of both sides of debate. Nice interviews. Glad your mum likes the documentary and wanted to meet Wayne. He’s as lovely in real life.
If you think Wrexham are controversial then Birmingham city & Aston Villa are also controversial with their owners and money spending? I believe Wrexham owners have put together a great business model which generates its own money, you should be applauding any team which can only bring positivity.
Great vlog. I don't have an issue with Wrexham, my first visit and thought we were worth a point or three but couldn't find the net. Don't know why they get so much hate as I met some lovely Wrexham fans and it was a welcoming atmosphere at the ground. Every team would take what they have if it was offered to them. Nice for a neutral view at a match and loved you got Lewis Montsma in the crowd, who doesn't love a player in with the fans, shows what an inclusive club we are.
Wrexham are awesome and the banter we have is also awesome , if we had the money I'm sure we would do the same a zero pound spending team as you said ,I'm a stockport fan and wish them all the best , we have goe toe to toe for quite a few years , I wish them all the best ,I would be happy staying up this year as we don't have the cash to bounce up again , playoffs money and go again next year , all the best Wrexham ...
Not controversial at all. The whole game is about money, no one batters an eye over a premier league team having saudi oil money.. why would it be any different in the lower leagues, the amount of money Ryan Reynolds has brought to the club is a raindrop in an ocean of football money. What rob and ryan do bring to the table is marketing and business management experience in a positive way. rather than just throw money at a club, they making the club sustainable for the future
Stockport spent nothing? Stockport County owner Mark Stott has cleared the £7.7 million debt the club owed him that was used to invest in the then National League side following his takeover in January 2020. Apparently Wrexham owe Rob and Ryan £9 million. Why are Wrexham controversial then?
Great video, I have been watching Wrexham for 33 years now and since the takeover it has been an absolutely ride, the players all say it’s the best place to be within the team and we have a winning mentality, loved the video, my son is called Kai too and he was in the stand with the singing and he’s been going since he was 3 and now 18, definitely a family club ❤
We were asset stripped, so we needed investment, the club had struggled for years following Hamilton. Rob and Ryan can only spend within the rules, look at Birmingham 20 million, yet, we are buying the league!! It’s great to see our ongoing support and also our international fans
Fair assessment of the game with nice short comments rather than running commentary with the video footage. Could easily have been a draw but then we have been able to get those vital goals for a few seasons.
Contraversial because we’ve got owners who have invested in the club? Nobody thinks that Birmingham City are controversial, yet they spent much much more in this league.
There is no comparison between Wrexham & ones you listed such as Salford, Red Bull or MK Dons. They were either handed a football league place, created from nothing with little or no history or have no fans. Wrexham are one of the oldest football clubs in the world, always been well supported & languished for 15 years in non league before earning the right to regain their football league place, 99% of rival fans criticising would jump at the chance to have owners like Wrexham have, it really is just bitterness or jealousy.
Controversial??? To any true EFL fan THE controversial club is MK Franchise Dons . Being a Wrexhamfc fan of over 50 years and talking with fans of many other clubs , being honest most thinking fans everywhere just wish Rob and Ryan took over their club . They really wish us we on our journey. By the way it’s Wrexham AFC not AFC Wrexham. Couple of the usual inaccuracies within the first 30 seconds, no need to watch any further then. They took control in Feb 2021 and we were debt free and in a play off position. It's a constant kick in the teeth to the fans that kept the club going, that people who know jack shit about the club nor really care about it either, spout such bollox. We gave up part of our lives to keep the club alive and then have to watch various over egged versions of how we were dead and buried... No denying we are now in a much better place, but some respect and accuracies is the least the long time fans deserve.
Wrong. It has been openly discussed that when Rob and Ryan entered negotiations to buy the club was during the Covid lockdowns. Remember the season that was canceled and we were saved from relegation by points per game? They then paid £2 million for the takeover. In their first half season of control was when we barely missed the playoffs under Dean Keates. That summer they hired Phil Parkinson and brought in Paul Mullin.
@@brianeleightonI was on the trust board at the time and was involved in the takeover. They took full control in the Feb, it's you that's wrong. The trust even had to sign to agree to take on any increase in wages if the takeover didn't complete, as it was agreed they could recruit in the Jan window. In the event though as a player left right at the end of the transfer window, the monthly wage bill went up by a minute amount £170 or so...
@@brianeleighton A timeline of Wrexham's Hollywood takeover Early 2020: Wrexham director Spencer Harris is approached by an intermediary about a potential change in ownership of the club. @paulsmith7051 The negotiations with Rob and Ryan were long before then. We had to vote to approve even entering into discussions. We didn't know at the time who it even was who was interested. Spencer Harris laid out the timeline in the special takeover edition of Dragonheart. When Rob first expressed interest in the club was during lockdowns. It is simple facts that we were barely saved from relegation in the season prior to negotiations. They didn't buy the club on the back of the performances of the club barely missing the playoffs the season prior. They bought it and that second half of the season they ran the club. It was then that the club barely missed the playoffs. Sure Wrexham came close to promotion a few times under the stewardship of the WST, but let's not look back with Rose coloured glasses. The club was in the absolute shit when they took over. We were debt free, sure. However that is largely down to the fact that no institution would give the club credit.
Kai...another brilliant blog.. well done again..I really enjoy your Non Villa uploads..BUT..there is nothing controversial about what Wrexham are..Perhaps only the type of supporters they now attract..my mate is diehard Wrexham..unfortunately his work doesn't permit a season ticket..so now he can't attend games..due to the Glory Hunters..I'm the same at the Villa..used to get in half a dozen games per season before Covid..No chance of a ticket now..I'm yor Grandads era Rotterdam veteran..First game Halifax Town 1970 when I was 5..Am I bitter?? Yep a little bit..has football changed in the 55 years since my first game? He'll Yeh..ask Grandad..Has life changed..Yep..So that's why I'm so grateful for you and the likes of Max Stokes for bringing Villa to my West Wales living room....but I'll always hold my Trump card..When I was 6 months younger than you..I'd seen Dennis Mortimer hold THE TROPHY ALOFT..Money has changed the game..And we have to get used to it..😢
Many clubs charge "premium prices" when Wrexham comes to town with their large contingent of away support. The entire EFL has profited handsomely from the added media attention garnered by _Welcome to Wrexham_ worldwide. Would there be bidding wars over League 1 and 2 television coverage without the rise of Wrexham?
I believe every club wants what Wrexham have in its owners. They have bought life back into a community, they’ve proved they are in it for the long term, they’ve invested heavily in the club, who wouldn’t want that. Yes they have bought players from higher divisions but wouldn’t any club if they could. You’ve still got to get the player to believe in the club and what it wants to achieve. Look at Okonkwo he could have got a contract with a championship side or even a lower team in the premiership yet he decided to stay with Wrexham after his loan period ended from Arsenal. There is such a belief about the club and their home form is like a fortress, they’ve proved themselves and are sitting second in league 1. Yes money talks but wouldn’t any supporter want that for their club. Those that hate Wrexham would be the same supporters that would jump at the chance if their club could have Ryan and Rob as their owners. Salford had the investment from the Man United players yet they’ve stalled and gone no further. So as much as money plays a part it’s the manager the owners and the belief from the players that have got Wrexham where they are. Will they get automatic promotion, it wouldn’t surprise me, but definitely play offs and fair play to them. Good video and interviews, plus a relative impartiality. 👍
‘ Where were you when you were shit’ coming from Lincoln fans is funniest thing you’ll hear all day! I Used to work in Wrexham and went to a few of there games.. first one was against Lincoln… where they only took no more than 250 if that. Made me laugh hearing that chant
The controversy is all jealousy. If they are not breaking any league rules, then I don't see an issue. What supporter wouldn't want their team to invest in the team, recruit and sign the best players they can?
How tf are they controversial? Ryan and Rob has done what every club wants and has REVITALISED the town. People think leagues are won without money???? People think those that get promoted from non league to the EFL don’t spend lots of money???? Ryan and Rob have invested themselves into the club and the town.
You need to research the history of Wrexham AFC (not AFC Wrexham as you miss-named it at the start). In our years in the NL we had to compete against tin pot Clubs like Fleetwood, Salford, Sutton Utd, Harrogate etc, who had no fans but owners with money (some from dodgy practices). Now that we have proper owners who have proper money and intentions we are getting the success. What is controversial about that?
Watch them several times when no prem about, decent club, yep I have watched the docu's they done well since boys came in, last time watched a stand was bern built, finished? Next you ask Try Worthing FC, massive story there Anyway up the UCL tonight
Controversial really! Genuine owners who have brought their knowledge and skills to market the club in their own unique way. This has generated the funds to allow the club to begin rebuilding both on and off the pitch. The owners are investing in the town not just the football club, how many others do this. So many wrong assumptions made by this guy who would benefit from doing proper research before commenting. At the end of the day though I guess the creator of this video is just a boy indulged by his mummy looking for clicks on his page.
You lost me with the first blatant lie that Stockport spent zero to be at the top of the National League. Might have been a good video but now you get a dislike for just being a liar.
Why? For clicks? Controversy my ass! Sad😮😢. Where is the "scandal and controversy" when guys like Tom Brady comes and spend at least 5-6 times more money just for the players! Jack shit for the community. Regards from Wrexham "branch" Finland❤❤❤

@@brianeleighton A timeline of Wrexham's Hollywood takeover
Early 2020: Wrexham director Spencer Harris is approached by an intermediary about a potential change in ownership of the club.
Summer 2020: Harris and his fellow directors agree to sign a non-disclosure agreement with the interested parties, not realising the need for secrecy was due to the prospective investors being Hollywood stars.
23 September 2020: Members of the Wrexham Supporters Trust (WST) vote overwhelmingly to allow talks that could lead to an entire takeover of the club to go ahead at a special general meeting.
24 September 2020: Reynolds and McElhenney are announced by Wrexham as the potential investors.
8 November 2020: Reynolds and McElhenney present their vision for the club to the Wrexham Supporters Trust over Zoom, saying they want to turn the club into "a global force".
16 November 2020: Over 98% of supporters vote in favour of the takeover.
18 November 2020: Wrexham's soon-to-be owners Reynolds and McElhenney donate £6,000 to adapt Wrexham fan Aiden Stott's home.
22 November 2020: Wrexham boss Dean Keates reveals he has spoken to Reynolds and McElhenney and predicts they will "take the club to the next level".
30 November 2020: Former Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore says he is to work as an adviser at Wrexham.
15 December 2020: Moore tells BBC Sport Wales that Reynolds and McElhenney are "in it for the long haul".

9 February, 2021: Wrexham's Hollywood takeover is completed.
He'll Yeh..ask Grandad..Has life changed..Yep..So that's why I'm so grateful for you and the likes of Max Stokes for bringing Villa to my West Wales living room....but I'll always hold my Trump card..When I was 6 months younger than you..I'd seen Dennis Mortimer hold THE TROPHY ALOFT..Money has changed the game..And we have to get used to it..😢
Clubs hate wrexham but love them when they visit their home clubs, cause they know the money wrexham brings into the commuunities.
Get to Burton... they're a struggling side, but would be sad to see them relegated. Much prefer Slops to go down. UTST.
Iam Welsh born in Wrexham so I love them
‘ Where were you when you were shit’ coming from Lincoln fans is funniest thing you’ll hear all day! I Used to work in Wrexham and went to a few of there games.. first one was against Lincoln… where they only took no more than 250 if that. Made me laugh hearing that chant
Why is ur head randomly floating around at points?
Good to talk to you at full time good video though
Of course man. Feel free to share around
Sadly stockport pip them every year on half the budget.... 😂💙
A quarter of the population of Wales speak Welsh as a first language. That was a stupid comment fella. Ry'n ni yma o hyd!
Next you ask
Try Worthing FC, massive story there
Anyway up the UCL tonight
Juve 🔜
I love Wrexham
Controversial really! Genuine owners who have brought their knowledge and skills to market the club in their own unique way. This has generated the funds to allow the club to begin rebuilding both on and off the pitch. The owners are investing in the town not just the football club, how many others do this. So many wrong assumptions made by this guy who would benefit from doing proper research before commenting.
At the end of the day though I guess the creator of this video is just a boy indulged by his mummy looking for clicks on his page.
We are Wrexham FC and going to win the league?
Your mum is pure class.
I wish I had as much hair on my head as this child has in his brows 😂
Did I just hear you call them fallen giants😂 . Come on get real.😊
Its a bit better than Coventry! 😂😂 mate, walsall and slough are better than Coventry 😂
Odd video in so many way
How is this controversial?
But it’s ok for a billionaire to buy man utd etc. Get over it.
It’s Wrexham AFC
You lost me with the first blatant lie that Stockport spent zero to be at the top of the National League. Might have been a good video but now you get a dislike for just being a liar.
We are not controversial
Your mom is cute
"AFC Wrexham" and mispronounced "McElhenney" all within the first minute. Turned it off 😂

Controversial? No. Do you know what the word means. Joke.
It's really weird that a supposed football vlogger is a complete stranger to how football works.
Why? For clicks? Controversy my ass! Sad😮😢. Where is the "scandal and controversy" when guys like Tom Brady comes and spend at least 5-6 times more money just for the players! Jack shit for the community. Regards from Wrexham "branch" Finland❤❤❤
