    I think about this a lot. Here's my analogy. Imagine going to see a movie, but at the end of it they give you a shot that makes you forget you ever saw it. There would be no point in ever watching it.

      That’s bull shit😂 life isn’t a movie you sit and watch. You interact and change things for the better or good, for the billions of people that come after you. In reality no one knows what happens in death or what happens after. So live the best life you can, before you can’t.

    • @CarterSH1998
      @CarterSH1998 4 года назад +15

      @@adriankepler5254 that's a good point, I was focusing more on a human's personal experience.
      But sticking with the cinema analogy think of it this way...
      You can sit in the theater quietly watching the movie, keeping your seat clean
      Or...
      You can be obnoxious and distracting and throw popcorn around. Making the experience worse for everyone that watches with you and everyone that comes after. But in the end they're all going to leave the theater not remembering a thing.
      And yes, we don't know what happens after death, but we do know a bit about memories. Memories are stored in the brain. The neural connections that make up memories are all inside you're brain.
      So when you die we have no reason to think your memories are coming with you. Your brain falls apart and decomposes and your memories fall apart with it.
      Memories are structures. Just like a building. Where does a building go when it falls apart?

    Stupid design. We get born without being asked first. We go through lots of suffering and we get old and sick and die, so everything we struggled for, everything we fought is going to be pointless. This is seriously depressing. Why do we live we're only going to die in the end? I legitimately 'have a death wish' to see what death is like. Don't mistake this for being suicidal though, because thete IS a difference. I've just become somewhat apathetic toward life. This world is flawed. Humanity is disgusting. I...I want for God to take me home. I want to talk to him; to ask him why we live. I just don't know enough...
      Does death give you a reason to live. Or is there no reason to live because you die?

    • @spinne-feejassi3149
      @spinne-feejassi3149 5 лет назад +10

      It isn't that depressing though, it actually takes a lot of pressure off us as human beings if we remember that one day we will die, it will all be over and none of it will matter - because it reminds us not to take life so seriously, and to really LIVE whilst we are alive. Remembering that death will come and the life we lived will be erased/forgotten means we don't have to worry about the silly things that most of society seems to worry about - like having the career, the house, the marriage, the kids etc., and worrying about what people think etc. We can just do what we want whilst we are alive, remembering that it is out life and it is only temporary.

      If we're being realistic, seeing the ones you love die while you live seems pretty painful, but assuming that you mean everyone living forever, would still be bad cuz of overpopulation, also our brains can't store infinite information, so after 300 years or smth your brain would get messed up, and there would be the eventual death heat of the universe, where there would be nothing left but people (assuming they are immortal) in complete darkness, unable to speak due to being on space.

    This is a very interesting point. And I agree! It’s quite scary in fact. I think of it in comparison to before being born. What do you remember or what did you see before you were born? Exactly, it’s impossible to comprehend or imagine since you weren’t in existence. To think that you, or your consciousness can cease to exist in a process where you don’t even realize it, is quite terrifying for me.
    If there is one thing that brings a little bit of consolation, it would be that you alone will have access to arguably the greatest mysteries to life. And you alone (as in, for your consciousness and your reality) , will uncover it’s secret.
    We often think of us/our perspective/our consciousness as an entity, almost disconnected from our bodies. But think of this, what is left of us when our reality stops existing. Us, as in, our consciousness and what we believe to be an ever lasting function of our existence, might not even be a thing in the first place. As in, we really might not be what we see ourselves and think ourselves to be.
    Maybe we really aren’t ourselves at all. Maybe we are not in existence as we believe ourselves to be. Maybe, we only think to be something through the illusion given to us by life and how nature genetically coded us (and creates all our intricacies)

    Some people would argue that you can "live forever" through the memories of others, or through accomplishments you did which made it into the history books or the literature. But those things are not you, they are the echoes of your life now gone. They are facts which may or may not help or bring comfort to other people, but that is THEIR meaning and THEIR life, not your meaning or life. Further, those people whom you have affected in some way will also in turn die, so that supposed substitute meaning which you created will also be gone soon.
    The only way out of this is to live forever, and in the immediate future, that means curing aging as the highest priority.

And eventually, there won't be anyone left after the extinction of the human race so you're meaning that you passed down to others will no longer exist.

    I completely agree..but i just realized that even if immortality is achieved, that's not enough, because our sun will eventually explode/die off .....so...i suppose maybe interstellar travel to a healthy solar system inside another habitable planet is the only way...and then leave in search of another one before that one expires and so on and so on. Hopefully the universe doesn't implode, im not sure if that's possible but if it implodes then we can't escape this. But, regardless , achieving immortality AND Interstellar Space Travel IS the ONLY way to achieve Immortality.

    Schindler made a list, and saved many people from being executed.
    He is long dead, but his life still matters greatly. Ask the descendants of the people he saved.
    Schindler has obtained the only immortality that is actually achievable. As long as those descendants keep uttering his name, his life was, and still is packed full of meaning.
    Death is not an adventure, a tragedy, or meaningless. It is simply part of life.
    I'm not trying to hasten my end, but when it comes...it comes.

    Though if I’m being honest, I can’t say I’m looking for another life on this planet, though I never did have that choice the first time right?
    With research like Biocentrism, multiverse theory and many others, it gives me some insight as to what may or may not happen once you die, but the main difference here is that I don’t project my ideas as facts, unlike the religious.

    On another hand, living for eternity might be pointless. It is the same as building sand castles. The waves of time will wash it all away. The more you live the less meaningful the first years of your life will become for you. The more things you do, the less valuable each of them becomes. As a result, you will forget most of what you did in your life due to it being so long. If you cannot remember most of it, where is the meaning? If you could remember, would you care for any of it? If you wouldn't. That, by definition would make it meaningless.

    We're just small links in a chain. Our lives are individually meaningless but there's probably a greater meaning to our collective existence. Look at evolution and how it has led to humans creating AI and technology that could potentially change the fundamental nature of what the universe could possibly be. If this is the case then our purpose is simply procreation to keep the evolution going for a greater purpose. Therefore our lives do at least have some meaning in the intelligent grand design of life itself.

  • @hadifaramarzi66

  • @DavidJacomeTCP
    @DavidJacomeTCP 6 лет назад +2

    However, living forever is like living for an eternity. Of course, since we are humans, we would suffer in an eternal life. As humans, it is impossible to live with satisfaction for eternity. Would you rather live with eternal suffering just for the sake of your life to be meaningful or live a temporary life? Humans do dislike both choices, but that's the reality.
    Now for those who came across this video due to their fear of death, I will say that we fear death because we have become attached to our bodies and consciousness, but we have to face the truth that we are temporary beings. We have become attached to our bodies due to the 5 vices and fearing death prevents us from living properly in the present.
    Living a temporary life is what makes every moment from it precious and in order to get rid of this fear of death, we should learn to be more humble and less egotistic. It doesn't matter how meaningless our lives are because we are apart of a grand design which we will never know if it exists for a purpose or not. (It would be impossible to try finding out why the universe was created) We are lucky enough to live in order to see what beauty this universe, the mother that brought us beings to exist, has created then we decompose back into small bits of this grand masterpiece like the stardusts we were before. Of course, due to our ego, we don't like to be very small parts of something huge but rather rise up above it forever, but, since the universe is unimaginatively huge and eternal, is there really a point? Of course, due to our ego, we don't like to let go of our lives which we've been too attached to for so long, but, since our lives are temporary, is there really a point? This is why I believe people need to be more humble and since you got a lot of time, it would be wise to develop on your humility so that you can live life to the fullest, die happy and pass your message to your family so that they will also die happy when the time comes for them, even when you're not there.
    We are lucky enough to experience with nature, the stars, and the universe which we are apart of. There are a few flaws with what I said but I'm happy to at least attempt at helping others because going through a rough time with fearing death can be devastating (it's a normal thing, you're not alone) and I don't want people to be stuck with death anxiety for a significantly large amount of time of their lives. I want others to live their lives to the fullest and win victories against their fears and anxious thoughts in order to experience more of the universe's beauty which we are all apart of. We are all together on this and no thoughts will stop us from reaching our full potential and experience.
