IMO, Flask is more widely used. However, if you know Django using Flask shouldn't be problem.

Hey Stef. Just finished the HTML/CSS/Javascript course from your mentoring program. Excellent stuff! I am tempted to continue on other courses as well, but I guess that it would be best to slow down for a while and allow my mind to acquire new skills properly by practicing. But never mind that, here is a question: You said that at one point in time we should build a web site. OK. Can you, please, give us some example, link would be the best, of some not-so-bad site should look like?
Stefan can I suggest a video idea ? I do remember your videos about new tech coming and going( ex. deno) , but recently there is a lot of hype on Blazor from Microsoft . I'd like to know your thoughts about js and it's related spa frameworks , if other langages were to follow and release their own WA spa frameworks. Of course I don't believe that js will be gone over the night but a lot of ppl on social media are pitching that if other languages follow Blazor's steps it's gonna be game over for JS.
Living in Germany...highly qualified..knows little German ...learning past 3 years... stuck into depression because when I go for Front end interviews they ask me Ansible and when I go for backend jobs they ask me SQL, python context managers and SQL normalisation... I should quit ?
you don't need a website per se... a good filled up github account with code you made (even it's not very high end quality.. doesn't matter.. it will give them an insight on how you handle things, aka reasoning/vision, and what kind of projects/work interrest you), will do fine :) (if you are not into web frontend work)
It's 2020 and I still don't understand how people can think that you can get an Embedded Systems Programmer job without a modern, dynamic personal website.
I was a C language developer writing engineering applications, using statistical and math libraries, then database scripting to run the whole interaction with the database automatically. Now semi-retired I want to do something that excites me such as machine learning, AI, semantic search, application of machine learning to analyze log files, computer networking, web craping, chat bot development (ML here too).
Epic T-Shirt !!! From a time when all this started out and was still wrapped in magic. Millenials and Zoomers won't understand. HAVE YOU PLAYED ATARI TODAY ? Anyway I'm going to play some Super Breakout. 🙂😆😆
😁 I was picking out my laptop for coding a few days ago & there are your home-based video machines so I took the opportunity to play with my daughter Pac-Man.
What's your thoughts on CalTech Full Stack Web Development Post Grad Program - ctme.caltech.edu/programs-for-individuals/software-engineering-open/full-stack-web-development-certificate-pgp I hope this comment finds you. I really need YOUR Opinion no that because there are Billions of advice and comments but you are the one I trust most. I watch all your videos they are very helpful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Did you delete the live chat? I saw a live chat from yesterday in my feed earlier today. Irrelevant to the topic, but - having a centimeter or two of hair looks sooo much better on you than 1mm of hair. 😉 Combined with the stubble. Perfect! My two cents as an NYC fashion guru. 😂
I absolutely agree with you Stefan, fundamentals. Stefan stop trying to market yourself, i'm on to you. 😆 lol On the serious side you seem very genuine and I love your tips. Thanks, no I'm not going to buy atari, lol
How about learning the frameworks? Your courses don’t teach frameworks some jobs require knowing certain ones. How should someone learn this after the fundamentals?
New to your channel, I was a muaythai pro fighter and coach at roufusport. I'm thinking of getting into this feild my body started breaking down at 42 from over 30 years of that. I'm I able to get a job if I teach myself coding
Sit down with people and there requirements...but they should hire us in first place. How can we solve problems when senior asshole developers don't give us a chance
That's a weird question.. ASP.NET Core is a framework and you will be writing in C#. It might be harder to learn both C# and ASP.NET Core patterns at the same time but it's possible.. If I was you I would write some simple C# code and learn its fundamentals, and then go into frameworks. It's the same as learning Javascript and then React/Vue etc, it's the more logical approach.
Hi Stefan, what do you think about freelance websites like fiverr and upwork for building up a web developer portfolio? I realize most of these sites are usually a race to the bottom as far as pricing. I'm finding it hard to find nice real world projects to put on my portfolio. If the first few projects are going to be freebie projects anyway, I was thinking why not try out these sites because they have tons of customers on them. Just curious on your thoughts. Thanks
Speaking of frontend developpement for example, one should focus on learning the basics of javascript and the inner working of the browser such as the event loop, the networking, DOM API, the rendring engine, then tooling for the debugging/profiling like the devtools, once these mastered you will be able to understand any framework at first glance, and would be able to rewrite it your own way without even looking at their source code. btw these technology/framework evangiliste are dumb and low tier developpers, a real one view these techs as tools.
Hi Stefan, should we consider the future of the no code/ low code movement when we decide what coding to learn? I have learned react and react native, was planning on eventually learning node js with this after I've finished a couple of freelance front end projects I've managed to get. But will no code affect my prospects long term?
No code culture is a lazy culture. In my opinion every company who start with no code move to bespoke solution at some point. There is no way to compete agains company who rely on bespoke solutions. Every person specialising in branding knows that you have to be different. And if branding is done professional way - usually web solutions are unusual. And on the top of that - in my opinion next 10-20 years good developers are safe. Don't know what is Stefan opinion thou xP
No, DO NOT WORK FOR FREE. Your better off making your own personal projects. I know it would be hard to get started, but don’t work for free, it’s really not worth your time.
@James McKee you can do the same with a personal project and gain skills for marketing and more just trying sell your own personal project. You would charge a small fee to the company to build something when starting out, but you would not work for free. If you screw up parts of it you can always refund. Working for free is bad business.
There's a lot of programming/coding channels out there, but this one feels so genuine. Thanks man, I'm subscribing!
Best thing you ever did regarding coding. He gives you the broad picture so you don’t get it twisted and get stuck with your imposter syndrome
Stefan you are a gem!
Did u just declare Stef is a relative of ruby😂😂😂😂😂
Stefan you’re like Yoda - I mean this in the nicest way possible (so much wisdom, and no I’m not saying you’re old)

@@StefanMischook Was it not 269??
I landed a backend engineer job as an 18 year old! Thank you for your help!😄
One advice I want to give is to network with people.
Great!!!
I network on Twitter, does it count?
@@saeedhalabi5782 Yes it does. I prefer Linkedin though. I feel it is easier to network and find a job.
Great MMA analogy in regards to skills 👍
Thanks for these videos man. It's really helpful for all of us in this situation.
Stefan is a real one...
I wish I watch this guy earlier. This guy is gem.
Stefan, Do you think that the rise in popularity of Python will eventually mean more usage of the Django framework?
Yes and possibly Flask.
IMO, Flask is more widely used. However, if you know Django using Flask shouldn't be problem.

Fundamentals are whats in his course

Google is now god ... Of the nerds. Do not anger the nerd god.
Basically you need to sell, why learn coding if you can outsource it? Seems like sales and people's skills is the most important skill to freelance?
