In this video, IM Alex Astaneh is showing you the Max Lange Attack that can arise out of the Scotch Gambit. The Max Lange Attack is not only popular at the master level but also at the club level as it offers a dynamic play. This opening is rich of tactical ideas for white and black needs to now how to play against it in order not to fall into one of the plenty traps that white can set.
The Max Lange Attack is characterized by the following move order:
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.d4 exd4 5.0-0 Bc4 6.e5 d5 and after white's move 7.exf6, we reach the Max Lange Attack.
The main focus of this video is on black's best responses after white's last moves:
5:10 8.fxg7
9:05 8.Re1+
14:15 9.fxg7
17:05 9.Ng5

Hola MI Alex, thanks for your nice videos on Italian game. Pienso que sabes hablar y entender español, ¿no?
One of the best explained lessons.
Absolutely beautiful lecture! This is as good as it gets! For anyone wondering about the game with the sacrifice Bh6 I believe it was Ponkratov vs Shinkevich, 2013. Truly a spectacular sacrifice!
Thank you
Hope you learned something new 😉
Thanks
Welcome!
I will be going over this again!!
Brilliant advices thx :) Greetings from France^^
Very nice video .
Glad you liked it!
thank you, great opening for white, same as black good defense if move correctly
Nice video
Can you guys tell me why you're making these videos for free I mean they're too good to be free
Because we are nice guys 😉
To attract attention to the Twitch channels
where is the video link to see the "double accepted" that you mention @0:35 because I'm not seeing it in the recomendations/summary of the video
That's it! I'm going back to checkers!!!
me 2😅
What is the middle game plan against 4…d6 declining exd4?
I watched all your Italian videos.
I studied them to build a repertoire with Max Lange, Scotch Doublr Gambit, Deutz…. But I can’t find any information on 4…d6.
e4-e5
Nf3-Nc6
Bc4-Nf6
d4!-d6?!
Please help.
I have been looking at d5 kicking the Knight.
Bd3 preparing c4
c4 when Black pushes c6
h3 preventing Bg4
Does this opening line with 4d4…d6 have a name? How can I learn it?
What is the best move for white in the final position? Bh4 or c3? Seems like c3 for me but after d3 black has a somewhat scary protected passed pawn (although blockaded for now).
0:32 "We just took a look at the double gambit accepted..."
You did? Where is it?
This is my second video on the Scotch. I want to use it for my openings. However, every single line this guy goes over is BAD for white and GOOD for black! Is there any good news at all for _white??_ It's freaking ALL BAD NEWS FOR WHITE! Why would I ever play this as white? Makes no sense.... these videos (I assumed) were from white's opening perspective. It says nothing in the tile about black being better on literally EVERYTHING I move as white! I'm missing something here....
I think the point is that there is a lot of places where black can go wrong if black doesn't know the theory. When people study theory, they usually study the attacking parts of theory. I bet very few people google the video Max Lange attack to learn how to defend against it.
Clueless!
