Shelby Chemical Plant

This concrete skeleton is the remnants of the Shelby Chemical Plant that supported the Shelby Iron Company during WWI. The building ceased operations with the iron company almost a century ago in 1923, unable to survive the economic difficulties of the time post-war. It's extremely hazardous to explore on foot with gaping holes in the ground, broken and rusted metals, and even nesting red-tailed hawks. The building is maintained by the Shelby County Historical Society and is located in (guess) Shelby, AL.
