I would recommend a little white work truck for a teen's first vehicle rather than a sports car. Insurance would be too expensive on a sports car. And like Randy here, i'm the same age with a similar teen life. In 1997, I met a fancy girl with a fancy family when i was seventeen. They were skeptical but when i showed up in a new white Chevy S-10 single cab work truck, they respected me. I'm still in contact and visiting her and the family 25 years later : )
I had a 2010 Camaro manual for my first car I loved it I put rally wheels put on it and loved the fact I could run thru the gears and not be going crazy fast
I had an 08 Mazda5 as a family/commute car for a while. Drove it to almost 350K miles. It ran great and with the 3rd row folded down it had a ton of room. Honestly way more fun to drive than it had any right to be. The transmission started slipping pretty bad and that is finally what ended it. 10/10 would buy again over all the CUV crap on the road today.
Mazda 5 is interesting to me too. It's like someone took a minivan and decided they wanted the seating but not the size OR they took a hatchback and decided it needed a third row. :D Definitely unique.
I’m liking these everyday drivers your looking at instead of muscle cars and old classics. Don’t get me wrong I like those a lot but I really like the everyday A to B workers car.
Chevy actually offered a tuned exhaust on the V6 Camaro that sounded quite good. There’s a promo video of a car with that configuration driving through some canyons and the sound was intoxicating.
I would probably try to save money on the Camaro's paint job by painting it myself in camouflage colours! 😂 Nice thing about a sports car with a V6 package instead of a V8 (when available) is that it's highly unlikely it was abused.

It’s interesting these cars have been sitting for awhile like monkey wrench mikes mustang but very nice cars! Great videos as always. The Masada 5 has also very intriguing me it’s sad it’s gone. Great video.
Be a great car for him to learn how to do a little bodywork. My first car was something my dad bought me, when I was 15, and it needed a little bit of bodywork and mechanical work taught me a huge lesson. And taught me great work ethic

That Mazda Mazda5 (yes, that is the correct name) is a great little car/wagon/mini-minivan thing. Think of it as a slightly longer, slightly taller Mazda3. Unlike many minivans, this vehicle is fun to toss around into the corners, especially if it’s equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission like mine, a 2012 in the one year only color (at least on this body style) Copper Red Mica. After years of MBs, Porsches, BMWs and VWs I bought the dealer’s loss-leader for 20% off of list price as my first, and perhaps only, new car. I’ll be keeping this car forever - I like it that much. I don’t know what I’d do if I had to replace it as there will never be anything like this sold again. The 2.5l MZR engine is a gem and just loves to rev. Other than motor mounts (replaced under warranty) mine has been trouble free. It’s not the most efficient vehicle around, rated at 21/28. I was getting around 19-20, but that was with a lot of high revs and flicking it through the gears. Now on a regular 16 mile commute I get about 27 which isn’t too bad. It is a tiny little thing, aimed more at Asian and European markets, but I like it and think that it’s more the kind of car we need, but not necessarily what we want. I do have to use the armrest on the passenger’s side seat, but since it’s mostly just me in the car this isn’t a problem. I have been steadily upgrading mine over the years using parts scrounged at the junkyard as well as eBay. With regards to the radio, it probably works. When the battery goes dead the radio goes to zero volume on 87.9. The display for it is up there with the climate control information and temperature gauge. I like that display and went back to the stock stereo after trying an aftermarket do-everything big LCD stereo, and mostly listen via a Bluetooth adapter plugged into the aux jack. The 6MT makes a big difference in the performance of this vehicle compared to the 5AT, over a second in the 0-60 time. It’s not fast by today’s standards at 8.3 seconds, but I believe that people put too much emphasis on performance numbers but rarely use the power available to them. The engine is torquey and loves to zing up to redline and can surprise a number of people. I’m perfectly content with what it can do, although I might not being saying the same if I had the other five seats filled.
The Camaro for your teen son is a good choice. Not a powerful version so less chance of getting into trouble, less unreasonable insurance cost. It isn't a 'dad or mom' car so should be happy with it. The body is a bit rough but not rusted, odds are a new driver will have a significant crash early so no need to spend a lot of money on a first car. The Trailblazer was a bit too rough and high mileage. The Mazda 5 would be good for a family that needs a basic vehicle. Likely after fixing and clean up worth $3000+. Put a bid on it. Mazdas are decent, reliable cars, the body work doesn't look bad, might be able to find a back bumper and radio in a junkyard. It also has the shiftable sport automatic. Mileage reasonable and likely has many miles left on it.
Hey Randy, absolutely loyal subscriber! Your content has been absolutely fantastic! Love the variety! The viper, The Humvies, Mercedes Porsche Chevelle road trips! Please don’t change it! Even Hoovie is complaining about loss of views! Trust me it has nothing to do with your contact! Could be time of year, could be RUclips or who knows! Please don’t go back to the Mundane cheap only! That being said here’s something for you that is in your wheelhouse for Jessica I’ve noticed. I hope you’re not offended this is from another RUclipsr really standup father and son guys. This is different from what they usually offer. Normally do vintage Cadillacs and Lincoln’s. Was going to paste this but it disappeared I’ll have to get right back.
I'd like to see the Monte Carlo next to the Mazda. I never liked that body early on but now when i see the last gen Monte today, It's very distinct and looks awesome.
Hey AAR, those mazdas are popular in small islands like jamaica..they r nice to have good family cars justneed to keep up maintenace on them...yhey r in same class as kia n hyundai
I had a 05 trailblazer and the motor blow up on me but u have your good and your bad in every vehicle but I'm trying to find another but I want a 04 trailblazer Lt
in the UK buying a 14 year old a manual camaro would be very frowned apon by most parents as a crazy bad idea, but the young man with your guidence knows what he,s doing I think its cool, my mum god bless her taught me to drive at 11 in my dads huge work car park taught my son to drive in a bmw 535i sport auto when he was 12 then a VW camper if you trust they wont do something stupid with the car,the gift of independance will mean a lot to him ,did make me laugh when you said buy it for nick as it,s 17 here and normaly a tiny 1.0 citroen c1 or toyota aygo size of cars here
I personally think every kid's first car would be something SLOW that won't get them wrapped around a tree. I had a 68 Mustang with a 200ci and still almost got myself killed. Regardless you're his pops so at the end of the day; it's your choice.
That trailblazer needs a flush and refill..I had a chevette that did that crap when it was below 30 degrees outside...the trans cooler lines are probably leaking
Just a little advice dont ever get a v6 Camaro that doesnt have a 3.8l. The new gm v6 is terrible they put in them. Friend bought one brand new and did all the maintenance on time and it threw a rod through the block. GM replaced it for free and upgraded her to a V8. Well maybe it's worth it if that happens to you lol but most cases it right after the warranty is up.
That Mazda 5 is a great vehicle my girlfriend had one and it was a champ till a coyote ran in front of us causing her to hit another car totaling it .. I miss that Mazda 5
Randy, I think you are an Air Conditioned Gypsy? I hope you win the Chevy Trailblazer bid, and just top off the tranny fluid, than take it to a good transmission shop like American Transmission on South Walker, and get those transmission lines fixed...
I like when you buy these cheaper vehicles from auctions and try to drive them home. It shows that you know a good deal when you see it.
It’s even better when he’s hundreds of miles from home
A battery and a new windshield, and a hood really is all you need for a first car. If Nick is a humble kid he would REALLY appreciate this one.
V6 Camaro would be a great car for him to learn on and eventually drive!

@@Nkmeyer2915 My main concern is the risk of death. Sports cars can make kids behave a bit erratically.
@@Milnoc depends on the kid, i got a 2016 camaro ss and never crashed it

Yes you are correct Chevy did offer an active exhaust on their V-6 Camaros because I had a 2014 Camaro RS that had that exhaust on it.
That v6 Chevy is a great deal for a first car
Mazda 5 is interesting to me too. It's like someone took a minivan and decided they wanted the seating but not the size OR they took a hatchback and decided it needed a third row. :D Definitely unique.

Cool, I think Nick would enjoy this car , Chevy 😀
I would have loved to have had a Camaro like that back when I was coming up on driver's license age. I say you should buy it for him.
Chevy actually offered a tuned exhaust on the V6 Camaro that sounded quite good. There’s a promo video of a car with that configuration driving through some canyons and the sound was intoxicating.

Literally to the 1% who's reading this, God bless you, and may your dreams come true, stay safe and have a wonderful day.
Amen brother
Amen!
That camero is buyable
Cool thing about the Mazda 5’s is that you could get them with a 5-speed manual transmission!
Fill that Trailblazer up with fluid she will be ready too go!! I have 267K miles on my 2005 and it still looks and drives like new!!
It’s interesting these cars have been sitting for awhile like monkey wrench mikes mustang but very nice cars! Great videos as always. The Masada 5 has also very intriguing me it’s sad it’s gone. Great video.
Totally get him that camero!!!
I think the Camaro idea would be great and it would be interesting to see if the trailblazer just needs transmission fluid.
Be a great car for him to learn how to do a little bodywork. My first car was something my dad bought me, when I was 15, and it needed a little bit of bodywork and mechanical work taught me a huge lesson. And taught me great work ethic
I daily a 2010 Chevy Camaro in Inferno Orange and a manual transmission . I love it.
Good Evening My Good Little Bro Randy Lee Shear Of Auto Auctions Rebuilds
Yea i would like that for my first car its a good thing the V6 came in a manual so it will be more fun to drive and not to much power
ya he'd love the Camaro .. i know i do. :)
Sounds like a bad coil pack doing intermittent misfire on the Camaro. I had a Tahoe did the same. It was the coil pack.
Should buy the Camaro
Love the videos Randy can't wait to see the next one 🕜😂🕜😂
Owned 3 Mazda 5’s. Solid cars.
I’ve only owned one, a 2012 with the 6MT, but I love it and plan on keeping it forever.
I love the stick shift Camaro and the Mazda 5 😎😎👍👍
Yes good for a first car

Buy it for him
Mazda 5: “most people probably hate it”😄😄😄. hate is a strong word.
I'd love the Mazda van perfect for kids

Serious transmission leak cooler line trailblazer causing no fluid
Re: the camaro- have it vinyl wrapped a matte color and call it good.
That Mazda 5 is a great vehicle my girlfriend had one and it was a champ till a coyote ran in front of us causing her to hit another car totaling it .. I miss that Mazda 5

Good evening Randy
Let us know about the Camaro
THE VERY OLD TRICK WITH HAIL CARS IS ICUBES OR SHAVED ICE ON THE HAIL DAMAGE, SHOULD WORK IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER.
Randy, I think you are an Air Conditioned Gypsy? I hope you win the Chevy Trailblazer bid, and just top off the tranny fluid, than take it to a good transmission shop like American Transmission on South Walker, and get those transmission lines fixed...
Sometimes when they sit you have to go threw the gears when there low and it will probably move
Hey Randy! did you see something notty? I had a Masda for a couple of years, it was pretty good for what it was. 😎👍
The Chevy I would buy and teach your son how to do body work
You could clean you can clean your car and make it look like a brand new one
We had some issues with our 2014 v6 as well as our 2013 v8 both we had since new and all services @dealer sold both @ around 55k miles
Chevy thunder!
I have a 2008 Pontiac g8 v6 it’s nice and I’m 17 good gas mileage and it’s fast to
My first car was a 2013 camaro rs
That camero, the owner probably just disconnected the ATC and other safety options so they could race it and do burnouts
Oh hell yeah
Prefect car for teenager if not fix and sell
You need to get the Camero
