Five years ago, we began a new chapter of our lives on this beautiful farm in central Portugal. In this Vlog, I share how things haven’t been quite working out this year. From broken-down tractors and machinery to drought-like conditions, it’s been a year filled with challenges. We also take a moment to reflect on the highs and lows of our journey -embracing the joys of rural living, remembering the animals and loved ones who have been part of our story, and sharing the valuable lessons we've learned along the way. LOVE YOUR FARM you have a great farming neighbour not many people have that do you make wine if so how much do you make ,so many other people go to Portugal and just seem to be working 24 x 7 because they bought wreckage money pits your enjoying your move and lives your relaxed and retired just as life should be for you both now .I WISH YOU BOTH A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A Healthy new year.
Hey thanks David, we are super lucky with the property we bought and our incredible neighbours. We give all of our grapes to Joaquim as he has the facilities to make wine on his farm. We diddnt do it this year due to anno bicesto... the leap year messed up all of our harvests! All the best & merry christmas to you too!

WOW 5 yrs I have been with you two since the beginning. Camper BOB lol Do you still have him? I was just in Portugal a couple weeks ago and I still have the dream to move there someday. I really loved the Algarve.. The farm is looking very nice

Congratulations on 5 years to the both of you in Portugal 🙏 as a lifelong poultry enthusiast, I would really encourage you to look at the different chicken tractor plans that are available online. I'll try to find the one that we use and send it to you via email. It's going to be much easier to build than your chicken run, and I wager it will be less expensive as well. You were just stating facts and telling us exactly what is and what has happened in your timeline of yearly events. Just normal for machinery and equipment to break down, as you would be highly aware. Weather and rain are like the tides. Thankyou for another informative video. Lovely retrospective Ken on your experience. Harvests sometimes have to carry you through for more than a year. Hopefully, the oliveiras will produce a bumper crop next time. At least you can diversify to keep you motivated to keep improving your farm. The influx into rural areas won’t be slowing down. Affordable housing and land, what’s not to love? Feliz Natal❤.

@@Talesofhakuna it's bizarre youtube does that.. I have had a lot of similar comments and messages saying they were unsubbed! We tend to only film video tours around central portugal as we can't leave our pets and farm for too long.
Hi Ken and Gina! I'm enjoying the video so much, but pausing at 21:21. Poor kitty needs a new kitten to love on and snuggle with. I know for a fact that when you introduce a younger healthy all vaccinated, etc cat to an older cat, they become young spirited again, renewed with a new friend.

I dont think so, they can live for thousands of years. There is one in Crete thats estimated to be 2000-4000 years old! I imagine its seen a lot of weather changes over that time.

@ i’m not a cat person. I just inherited these cats from my mom. I’m a dog person! And my dog just recently died! I’m 79 years old. I’m a little concerned about getting a pet at this age. Cats live so long and I don’t wanna leave a petfor somebody else to take care of but thanks. I appreciate that. Normally, I would go out and get another puppy.

Oye los plumiferos se bañan!!! 🤷♀️🤷♀️, su tu no le construyes su baño seco... Ellos se la harán!!! 🤷♀️🤷♀️.... Le puede hacer tu: una parte de arena fina, otra de tierra, y tierra de diatomea... Tu acabas un rectángulo no ljy profundo.. Y pones esa mezcla... Tus plumiferos estarán saludable y felices.... Tu observa los pájaros sedan baños secos con tierras... Las gallinas igual... Bueno todo plumiferos lo hacen... Se deapiljan, se quitan parásitos de tierra.. En fin se dan una buena petroleada de tierra 😂😂😂. Saludo cordial.
We had to rehome them for the best outcome... the geese pair were starting fights with our livestock guardian dog... which was not going to end well at all for them. I do miss there silly goosie'ness and I really enjoyed their time at the farm, but they have gone to another awesome farm to live out their goosey lives... dog free :)

MY CAT is over 20 and has dementia and doesn’t know how to come back into the house. It is sad.

If you watch the video again, you will hear him explaining they found a lovely new home for their geese.
