The first thing I do when I leave Mexico is immediately start missing Mexico. We absolutely loved our time in Merida and Valladolid. On our way from Valladolid to Cenote Sambula in Dzitnup, we stopped in Chichimila, a charming Mayan village, and ate at El Capitan. That was a great day.
We arrived at merida Airport at 10pm on 2/29/24 with some apprehension regarding the transportation to our hotel in the city centro. All of the internet talks about the need to take a taxi for at least Mex$300! It turns out the ADO bus into the city center was perfect for Mex$40 for each person. We got off at the 2nd stop, right near the Santa Lucia plaza & walked the few blocks to our hotel. Perfect!!
Wonderful. ADO buses are great! You can also take a taxi, which is like $8 but you have to walk to the street you can't get the taxi from the Airport (near the rental car place).
We've stopped taking Taxis and Ubers since the Va-y-Ven bus system came in. 40 pesos is a pretty decent price to pay to go almost all the way to my house.
As a local living my whole life here, I appreciate videos like these. I didn´t even know about Manjar Blanco and other places but looks tasty. I'm glad you had a good time! When you come back you should visit Valladolid if you haven't been there :)
@@EatSeeRV I appreciate what you do for Mexico, see the positive side and not what the American government and media say!? Actually Mexico is safer than the USA,
Saludos amigos just comeback from our trip to Cancun , went to Chichen Itza , take a swim at Cenote and eat cochinita pibil I love that area I hope you guys doing good again saludos to you both
@@EatSeeRV Yes I did , the food at the Cenote area was great we travel like 3.5 hrs from Cancun to Chichen Itza we also got to see the Tren Maya along the route it's not a 100 % working but is getting there
You guys are always so fun to watch. Thank you for taking the time to take us along. The costumes of the dancers were wearing were incredibly pretty. Open question. Do you ever get food Poisoning in any of the places that you eat?
The dancing was incredible! And we have, but rarely. We've gotten sick 2 or 3 times out of the year and a half. And one time was the same spot twice (hard lesson to learn lol).
In 7 years of living in Merida I've gotten sick one time from hamburgers. Food and water are completely safe in the Yucatan Peninsula but I've been sick in about half the other states of Mexico over food/water issues though, it's an issue for sure.
Great video! The food looked as always. Love loved watching the dancing. Nice city. Love Mexican food. Love Mexican pizza. Love burritos. And if course tacos. Enchiladas. And chimichangas. Nice you both again. Sorry I didn’t see Dennis. Great video! Stay safe and have a great week.
I think I've only heard of 2 things out of everything you ate. this was certainly a food video with a bit of travel thrown in. solid warning before the video. Glad I just ate. For the one with the flat waffle maker and the cheese, its literally just cheese inside the rolled "shell"? glad to see a fresh video. take care!
Yes! It's just the cheese rolled inside - although you can add other stuff. I loved it just like that. And yes, the Yucatan has so many unique dishes to try.
Hi Dennis and Liz! I remember your trip a few years back to Mexico. Nice you went back. I am watching the video tonight! I miss watching you! I’m going try and get back to watching you again from time to time. If you don’t mind.
You guys find the absolute best looking food everywhere you go. Jan and I haven't been to Merida yet, but you've moved it much higher on the list. Great job!
Question Liz, You are so fluent in Spanish, I don't speak Spanish and I've tried for years but haven't been able to learn it for some reason. I'd love to visit the places you show us. Will I be able to do it without speaking Spanish? Thank you.
great to see you guys are back in Mexico! cool video! but why dont you know how to pronounce "Champs Elysée"? you pronounce the S on the end of Champs because the first letter of the next word is a vowel. and Elysee is EL-EE-SAY.
@@EatSeeRV but its one of the most famous places in the world and I knew how to pronounce it before I ever visited Paris. you also didnt know how to pronounce Suez Canal in your Panama video. I just find it bizarre.
We you guys are back in one of your most favorite places, Mexico. We guess the guys who aren’t good at the sword dance aren’t dancers anymore. They are eunuchs. 😀😀. Definitely do not slip!
The biggest downside to residency in Mexico i see is that after you move to permanent residency, you can no longer drive you US plated vehicle into Mexico. Not sure about the Baja area since you don't have to get TIP.
As a temporary resident you can still drive a US plated car but at the end of the 4 years you have to take it back to the border before applying again since the car is attached to the residency.
Hola! I appreciate and enjoy your helpful videos. As to "safety", from My observations, there is an obvious police presence. However, unlike the United States, where the police are overly militarized, here the Merida municipal police are equipped with walkie-talkie radios and batons. The Merida police seem to be more social ambassadors than stormtroopers and are very helpful. The National Guard, on the other hand, are more militarized, as I would expect, but they are not as prevelant. I've been in El Centro for less than a full week and can easily walk wherever I go. However, I'm more concerned with twisting an ankle on the narrow, uneven sidewalks than I am of being a random victim of crime. This week, I'm following your trips to the cenotes and other Mayan adventures.👍 👍

Yes. Largely from expats but also because it's a safe city for Mexican Nationals and many wealthy Mexicans live there flying back and forth from Mexico City. So many reasons

Where would you suggest for my Wife and I look to retire if we have to have two things...???
1. Beach.
2. Bicycle friendly.
Campeche has waterfront and bicycle friendly but not many beaches. Every other beach area will not be bicycle friendly really
I like it your content about Mexico because I can learn English ❤😂
Perfect! Haha
Did you get sick with the Ice???
No, because ice isn't an issue in Mexico. Ice comes from purification plants and is completely safe to drink. That's an antiquated stereotype.
Welcome back to Mexico,
Welcome back to Merida Yucatán guys
Thank you 😊
Yum!!!
Yum is right!
Chilakilez changed their name! They used to be called Chilakillerz. Ha
