Lure used was the Halco Lumo 190DD. Brother bought it as a joke on a previous trip and it caught 4 mackies. This trip it was again the dominant lure. Next best was Pilchard colour.

Spent many years fishing that joint, one year we had a mild swell running and were fishing the very tip on the low ledge. Swell was not a issue however out of nowhere we copped a wall of green water raised, lifted and cleared the high ledge. Snapped 4 cemented rod holders and nearly dragged my mate of the cliff face,. Was one to remember lol.
You guys have a great fishing spot. All big fish. especially the big and healthy mackerel. Congratulations to you. I'm in Vietnam 🇻🇳, I don't know which country you are in ?
The macks at Steep seem smaller, but it seems like less sharks, we used to get some monsters around Quobba, most of them over 15kg and some big ones, 24kg, 28kg, 29kg, but you have to get outside the regular/ popular spots, because the sharks are all over them.

Starter combo🤔 get your hands on a second hand fibreglass rod and a 10k reel with a good drag unfortunately the lighter you go the more expensive equipment gets... Sambos , mackies , tuna and the other big species are relentless up there you need gear that's up for the challenge....and don't forget your knots have to be 100% no point having good gear if your knots are crap.... What's your budget brother?
@Salty Fishos Actually, this was the worst condition I have experienced in my six previous trips. My first trip was done in a Toyota Kluger and third time in a Subaru Tribeca. Which shows how much easier it was in the past.
