Mick mars was so underrated. What a great guitarist. His playing really polished them up
He wasnt even really a glam metal player. He was more of just a regular heavy metal guitarist. Vince's voice is what really gave them the glam sound
@@HeathenMetalhead221 mick was a good bit older played a strat. You can hear the blues influene in his playing
If you listen to all their best songs. All you can really hear is Mick’s solid fucking riffs. The Crüe was nothing without him.
@@JohnSmith-rk6jy yeah that is my guess why Nikki selected him. He knew they needed a pro to make band happen
@@stewartwilbanks4294 definitely! And blues was an influence on metal so Mick has a very classic metal style in his playing
Nikki Sixx - badass bass
Mick Mars - badass guitar
Tommy Lee - badass drums
Vince - badass voice
Got that right I’m sure of that.
At times
I love 80s cutie vinnie's voice... sounds adorable, like a cat sometimes
All of them: badass drugs
Badass band
Unless you grew up back then its hard to comprehend how over the top and insane this video was. My dad was from the WW2 generation, when this this video came on he just shook his head in disgust. I was 13 and thought it was the coolest shit i had ever seen
it's still insane. do you think any band would be able to release this video today?
i don't think so, we live in a very conservative prohibited environment.
the 80's is sadly a distant dream. and today's music reflects that perfectly, as its all $hite.
in the 80's the best taylor swift could have done no 4 girl in the pen.
all hail the crue, guns n roses, and anyone that flew the flag.
@@djtall3090 Exactly
Watching this as a 41 year old woman, this video is hilariously weird. You can absolutely tell it was when music videos were a new format and they didn't know WTF they were doing with it.
Best comment man 👍😁👍
@@makkdiver Conservative prohibited environment? What about pretty much any Behemoth video? I grew up on 80's metal, but there's plenty of good music still. It's so readily available that you can pick and choose, so you don't have the "arena" type of bands as much.
I'm so jealous of my dad who got to see these guys in the 80s when they looked like this. Oh, how much I would give to take a visit to the 1980s.
The 80s was truly FUN to be young...No school shootings and no pandemics and no terrorist attacks....All we worry about was trying to get good grades and trying to look cool for the chics
You missed a great time Chris. It was as fun and great (and innocent) as you imagine it was.

figure out the meaning to the song for further enlightenment

Yeah its just that the phones and the money is not there, the phones as I was saying is making younger generations to become dumber down.
YOu rs and many more behind yours will play not the guitar but rather the phone `in you r hand' better than Mick Mars here..SO sad...Lost of the human race.....Ginny pigs for the new form of order...unless Jesus crushes it...He probably will for it has been written.
@@MrTw2009 Yeah, elder means older. I suspect you are a 15 year old’s “elder.” Let it go dude, if you were a teen like me when this came out you’re in your 50s…you’re getting old. Accept it.
Id say Looks and Wild Side are their best songs
"I had managed the Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Skid Row, KISS. I had been dragged through the deepest shit with all kinds of mentally ill people. But I had never been through what Mötley Crüe put me through."
Whats that
Nice in the movie
Kool
Curious to know what they put you through. Do they treat everyone poorly?
nlksem it wasn’t that he was necessarily mistreated. It was during that time, the Crüe were doing every drug known and unknown to man, partied all night and trashed every hotel room this dude booked for them. He was the closest thing they had to a parent during those years and he was basically trying to parent four cocaine and alcohol filled tornadoes. Like imagine having the police called every night because a naked long haired junkie is running through the hotel lobby acting like a complete maniac and you’re the one responsible for that maniac’s safety.
The audio quality of this only makes this more nostalgic, it sounds like a cassette rip
i came to the comments to try and find one just like this took me ten minutes to find it
That's how they always sounded. The band isn't bad, but whoever mixed this album should be taken out back and shot.
@@daltonrandall4348 and it does NOT sound bad??? As the original comment says. Whoever mixed it did good a job because Crue songs always feel nostalgic.

I was 15 years old when this song was released. What a phenomenal time to be young when metal was at the beginning of its inception; I will be forever grateful to have experienced bands like Motley Crue, Guns 'n Roses, Skid Row, Metallica, Slayer, White Lion, Poison, etc
Kids today don't have a clue about the excitement of buying a new cassette (yes, cassette) and then saving up to see your favorite metal band in concert live. I saw Motley Crue with Foreigner at the Rochester War Memorial n Rochester, NY
I'll never forget watching Tommy Lee doing his drum solos airborne and upside down;
It was sick!!!! What a great time to have been young, wild and a fledgling metal maiden!!! Thank you Motley Crue for teaching me the correct way to wear eyeliner and hairspray and most of all, thank you for all the fond memories!!! You can't find those on Snapchat, Twitter, Tik Tok or You Tube
God bless MTV, metal and long live the music
Amen❤💋
Hi 🌹,
How are you doing!
Please can I talk to you 🙏?
I was a 15 year-old drummer when this video first came out in the early 80s. I remember being completely mesmerized by Tommy's drumming technique where he "chokes" the crash cymbal (1:23 - 1:27 and 2:35) while keeping time on the hi-hat and snare. I'd never seen anybody play drums like that before. It just looked beautiful almost.
Not almost. It IS beautiful!
Motley had a very strong brand of music very raw guitar and drums. The other bands of the time were so phoney sounding like elevator music
He spins the sticks too. It's badass.
Tommy isn't that good.
@@thecawdsquad875 That dude frickin' RULES!!
I remember when I was 14 years old and got on the school bus and some kid jammed this full blast, the record just came out. It was an instant smash hit - on top 10 radio. I scrounged the money up (like $8) and bought this cassette - we blasted that album all year long on the bus - but nothing compared to the first time.
I’m 17 and my area only has school buses for disabled special ed kids💀
Back then when nobody would tell you to turn that metal music off
If I'm not mistaken my music teacher gave me a copy on cassette!
@@seemann2401 the good old days that I wished I was born in but I was born in 2011😭
I was 14 when this came out too. I went to a Christian school and some guys were passing a “Shout At the Devil” tape to each other on the sly. Everyone was looking at it like WTF… and I’m not sure why. I mean, we all grew up with KISS, for pete’s sake.
When the teacher left the room, we really started looking at it and talking about it. I remember there was some, um, confusion about Vince in particular.
We knew it was not Christian school approved and we’d get our asses kicked for having it. That was enough for me. I HAD to have it and it was the first album I bought with my own money. NO REGRETS.
The base and the drums really drive this song along, the repeating guitar riff is sick and the vocals are savage.
Mick Mars is really underrated
yes that is so true
Criminally
No shit
Love Mick. He's always been my favorite.
I believe there's at least one "underrated one" in every band. Maybe Mick wanted it that way, didn't wanna be in the spotlight too much.

I love the way Mick Marrs looks! Insane!
He was drunk off his ass during this video shoot. Been drinking straight vodka he kept pouring into a Coke can. Lol
Looking back in hind-sight Motley Crue was-is a super group. You have 4 strong personalities or 4 "alphas", strong musicianship from each one of them, Whether you consider Mick's tasty guitar bits ( and perfect metal tone), Tommy's flashy strong drumming , Vince's supreme quality voice on vinyl, or Nicki Sixx's EXCELLENT song writing. Their physical image had cute faces for the girls that cared and tough faces for the guys that didn't . They caught lightning in a bottle for this album, that's for sure.
I didn't think there was much to write home about nicki bass playing, but his song writing abilities created CLASSICS. My opinion is changed about him for sure.
Now I need to be convinced about Vince.
I was a teen rocking out to this in the 80’s laughing at parents and older people listened to 40’s-60’s Music and now 30+ years, here we are!!
This holds up so much better. As someone who wasn’t around for the 40’s or 80’s I’ll pick Mötley Crüe 10/10 times
Don't you now "GET" that "old" music? I got it when I was tiny.

This was the first ever rock video I saw as a kid in the 80s. When I heard them riffs, I was transfixed and hooked for life. Mick Mars is the reason why I love rock music. He is the best!
Same! And Ratt!
The riff that tore up the early/mid-80s. The day they played Seattle after this album came out, my school changed overnight: next day, half the school was wearing Crue shirts, hats, bandannas, you name it. Half of those will probably deny it now, but metal was king that year.
Well, it is not really their riff. Play Judas Priest "you don't have to be old to be wise" and then Dokken "Young Girls" from 1980 and 1981 and see where they lifted it from........Dokken is painful as it is almost the exact same song with new words ;) ruclips.net/video/Va2LJ0x5Zu8/видео.html
this has to be the best music video from the 80s
This video is so iconic of the early 80s, it's such a classic. What a gem!
In the late 80's, my mom worked for FedEx. She delivered to a fancy hood in a place called Bell Canyon. Vince was one of her regulars. She told me, of all the famous people, he was the only one out in the driveway hand washing his cars. He was only one asked how she was doing, and would invite her in for some cold lemonade on a hot day. Said he was genuine as fuck, but she also couldn't help but notice the cloud over him and the sadness.
