Just wanna add a praise to this backpack! I bought it 6 months ago. I do a lot of 1-day hike and as Paul said in the video this backpack is very versatile, yet full of awesome features for short hikes! Just to describe just how efficient this backpack is... these are what I usually bring: trekpoles, mattress (rolled on the side-pocket), 500ml bottle on the other pocket. Inside: Jacket, spare shirt, small towel, light raincoat, 2L water bladder, first-aid kit, stove, cooking pan, cup, snacks.. On the outer zip-pocket : sunglasses, knife, pocket cam, wallet. And when I need to commute-work, my 12” laptop fits in it so nicely too! Only con: Not very good as a daypack for long travel-backpacking.. Usually during long travels you put the big backpack on your back and the daypack on your front. Its iron frame makes it uncomfortable. And takes up quite a lot space in a suitcase/big backpack because you can’t fold it. Just wanna share. :) I hope this helps!
Yesterday I purchased this backpack, as I am starting to hike more (going tomorrow in fact). Thank you for the video, very informative including the part about how to carry the poles!! Can't wait to use it!!!
Hi, a 26 litre pack for a 4 day hike, may be a bit tight. Do you plan on camping each night and carrying a tent? If not, then you'll be fine with the Hikelite 26. Thanks, Trekitt
Positive of Hikelite: More breathable thanks to the suspended backpanel, tends to be a better commuting bag. Negative of Hikelite: Hipbelt isn't supportive, it's there just to stop the pack bouncing around. Positive of Talon: Hipbelt is far more supportive and designed to take more weight, plus the flexible backsystem means it's lighter and will pack smaller than the Hikelite (if you're travelling and need to pack it into a suitcase, for example). Negative of Talon: Isn't as breathable as the Hikelite.
Is this pack able to attach to ospreys larger packs? I notice it has the same type of attachment points as the daylite series ( ie. The compression straps and the small buckles at the waistbelt ) but I cannot find any info from osprey confirming this.
I'm afraid we no longer stock this bag so I can't check. The buckles might be the same size, but I do remember there being a 'Daylite Travel' which was designed to fit onto the Farpoint range, but this had larger buckles. Sorry I can't be of more use. Harry
Hi Jonathan, the Hikelite could, at a push, be used as a run pack but there are better alternatives more suited to that activity. The Montane Trailblazer would be perfect as a small multi-activity pack - www.trekitt.co.uk/36922/products/montane-trailblazer-30-electric-blue.aspx
I have very broad shoulders and large chest. Have had difficulty getting a smaller daypack with sufficient straps and waist strap to center the load without pinching into my armpits. How is this pack for bigger guys?
Good question! Unfortunately we no longer stock this pack and I wouldn't like to guess if it would fit or not. If possible, I'd find somewhere near to you with a wide range of packs which you can try on and compare with some weight in - this will be the best way to find something you're happy with. Kind regards, Harry.
I was thinking of the 18 litre size for my day only walks, but your video now makes me think should I go for the 26 litre as it has more features. Any suggestions?
Hello! Thanks for the very helpful review. I have a question - when you say the hip straps are 'not load-bearing' - what is the difference between these and load-bearing ones? Do you know how much difference it would make? Thanks :)
So with larger rucksacks, the majority of the weight will be transferred through the hipbelt, whereas on lighter packs such as the Hikelite, the hipbelt is there purely to stop the bag bouncing around, it isn't designed to take the weight of the bag. I hope that helps!
The length of the backsystem is dictated by your back length and not by your overall height. Paul is 6ft 3", however he uses a S/M back length where available as most of his height is in his legs. If you watch our 'How to Fit Your Rucksack' video, you should be able to measure your own back length.
It should be absolutely fine. The backsystem tends to fit most users due to its pre-curved shape and the hipbelt, as it isn't load bearing, can be positioned wherever is comfortable rather than right on your hip bones as a traditional load-bearing hipbelt would. Kind regards, Harry.
Hi Sara, the Hikelite isn't designed to carry a laptop, a better alternative would be this - www.trekitt.co.uk/38636/products/lowe-alpine-phase-30-anthracite.aspx
You may struggle if the poles both had baskets on, but without you'd be fine! If worst comes to worst, you can just slide them into the side bottle pocket with a protective cap over the end.
Hi Siska, The Hikelite 26 would just about take a 15" laptop, at a push. However, we would not recommend it has a curved back system and doesn't offer any protection. for your laptop
Hi! could you help me?, i cannot decide between this model, and the talon 22. This one is bigger and have raincover, but the talon is more expensive, only for the backpart?, i wont to buy one "small" backpack for trek, carry on, city tour, etc. Thx!
Hi Nicolas. I think that the Talon 22 would make a much better "all-round" pack for the activities you state. It carries weight much better thanks to the larger hip belt and more technical back panel. Ultimately it'll be more comfortable. Rain covers are available separately, or you could use drybags to keep the contents protected. I hope that helps, Paul.
@@trekitt Everything from 0.5 liter to 1 liter bottles fall out, even when picking up something from the ground because it sits way too losely in the mesh, bascially sliding in all directions... so it really is a dysfunctional design. There are plenty of consumers complaining about this issue in reviews.

5:59 There's a small pocket inside the scratch-free pocket to stuff your keys - that way, keys won't scratch your glasses/phone/Fabergé-egg.
Fantastic review of the Hike Lite 26! I just bought this pack and had no idea it had so many features until I watched your video. Thank you!
I’m looking for a day pack, this review has convinced me this is the one. Not too big, not too small 👍
Good choice!
Yesterday I purchased this backpack, as I am starting to hike more (going tomorrow in fact). Thank you for the video, very informative including the part about how to carry the poles!! Can't wait to use it!!!
Have a great day out hiking and I hope that your new pack is comfortable. Paul.
Just bought this backpack thanks to your excellent review....
Thanks for the kind words; enjoy your new bag. Harry.
Boiling in the UK is any thing over 68 degrees
Awesome review! I've ordered one today and I cant wait to use it!🙂
You've sold me.
Thank you for this. A really good and thorough video of the backpack. 😄👍
Glad it was helpful!
Will it take a osprey 2.5 ltr hydration pack
Nice review.Very direct! 👍
Thank you! 👍
Good summery of bag but did you say what it's storage capacity is? That is very important. ...20L? Are the waist straps removable?
Hi, the capacity is 26 litres and yes, the waist strap is removable. Thanks for watching.
just subscribed looking at osprey stratos 32 enjoy your method of explaining packs etc best of luck from Pasadena calif
Welcome aboard!

The lower compression straps looks a little low. Wont they slip down on the drinking bottles?
It depends on the shape of the bottle, but in use we've found our Trekitt bottle stays in place just fine.
This looks like it could also double as the perfect multi day run pack.

As an all year round daypack, I'd go for the 26. It'll give you more space for insulated jackets, a stove, more food, etc. Kind regards, Harry.
very clear and helpful video. thanks!
If you put wet rain jacket in the easy pull pocket, will the water get thru inside?
90% of the time, no; however if the jacket is exceptionally wet and you place the bag face down then it could eventually make it's way through.
nice review, top notch
How waterproof is it?
Not very. If you want to keep the contents dry store them in these..www.trekitt.co.uk/facetresults.aspx?Term=fold%20dry%20bags

Whats the name of the mountain equipment top your wearing in this video?
Hi, the top is an M.E Trembler, thanks for watching. Paul.
Can you attache walking poles to that backpack ?
7:16 - Paul attaches some poles to the pack, however we forgot to talk about it in detail during the video. Kind regards, Harry.
nice video!

Hallo,,, sorry comments in here.
When you review Arc’teryx Bora 50/63 ?
Thank you 🙏🏽
We'll add it to the list! We can't give an exact date, but hopefully in the next few months.
Is this backpack too small for someone that’s 5’9 and 220 lbs???
It should be absolutely fine. The backsystem tends to fit most users due to its pre-curved shape and the hipbelt, as it isn't load bearing, can be positioned wherever is comfortable rather than right on your hip bones as a traditional load-bearing hipbelt would. Kind regards, Harry.
Hi sir, is the torso adjustable?
Hi, the Hikelite has a fixed backsystem.
Very helpful! Cheers.
Does a laptop fit in that inside mesh pocket? What inch?
Hi Sara, the Hikelite isn't designed to carry a laptop, a better alternative would be this - www.trekitt.co.uk/38636/products/lowe-alpine-phase-30-anthracite.aspx
great video !
Very useful :) Thank you very much.
I'm already a proud owner of the model
Hey guys, can you fit two trekking poles just on one size?
You may struggle if the poles both had baskets on, but without you'd be fine! If worst comes to worst, you can just slide them into the side bottle pocket with a protective cap over the end.
Trekitt Mountain Sports, thanks for the reply and the tips!!
Does this fit 15" laptop?
Hi Siska,
The Hikelite 26 would just about take a 15" laptop, at a push. However, we would not recommend it has a curved back system and doesn't offer any protection. for your laptop
Haha, only complicated surgery will stop you from sweating!
Unless you are Prince Andrew.
He said it’s boiling out there today. It’s 118f where I’m at today. Lol.
Gladly it doesn't get that hot here in the UK; we'd all melt!
Trekitt we have very little to no humidity so it’s actually quit pleasant plus there are no mosquitos. Life is good!

What is the maximum capacity ?
The total capacity is 26 litres.
Sorry I wrote wrong. I meant the maximum weight I can carry in ?
No worries! There isn't necessarily a maximum weight, but we'd probably recommend no more than 12kg.
Thank you ! :) I was worried about 9kg. It is more then enough !
支持魔王(填)充滿希望姐!她都暗示的接近明示了😊
Thanks for watching.
Osprey messed up their mesh pocket design not just on on the Daylite but also on the Hikelight series and Tropos series. Every water bottle falls out.
Thanks for your comments, however I've never experienced any water bottle issues. Paul.
If you try holding it closer to upside down than what you're doing in your video, the bottle will fall out, guaranteed.
That’s called gravity, not poor design!

Tropos and Daylite also, same problem
Harry didn't put the link up. Naughty Harry.
😂I had to remove it as we no longer stock the Hikelite; the link would go to a blank page.
