  • Félix Le Couppey (1811-1887) was a French pianist, composer, and music professor from the Romantic Era. He was born in Paris, and studied at the Paris Conservatory, where he received the first prizes in piano and harmony in 1825, and piano accompaniment in 1828. He was immediately offered a position as assistant professor of harmony at the age of 17.
He taught several significant students at the Paris Conservatory, including Édouard Batiste, Cécile Chaminade, and Józef Wieniawski (the younger brother of the famous violinist Henryk Wieniawski). Today, Le Couppey is remembered for his pedagogical piano works, including this set of etudes.
