Definitely learned from you today. I have been trying to see the ghost ball and I always thought I was missing something small and it was 1.125" from the ball. Thanks for that
Unscripted information from the source is unbeatable. I like the addition of the white laser from your vantage point to the ghost ball location on the table. Well done Chris. Thank you for taking the time for honest interpretation and communication to your viewers!
I just wanted to let you know how much your videos have helped my game, you explain things very clearly and have a simple calm about you that just makes following your instructions easy. Thank you for making all these you are appreciated
Real good video, I like both live and recorded but I like recorded better. Either way I enjoyed watching your mascot having fun while you were recording
As usual, great video. Loved your thought process if aiming shots. I would ask you to consider making a video on THROW, intentional and non intentional as it relates to aiming.
That was extremely helpful. Because of this video lesson, I now know I've been looking at my ghost ball a little to far from the object ball. This would have been a really big help 10 years ago when I was playing in leagues lol. Thank you very much for these lessons 😊. And btw, I have a cat that looks a lot like yours lol
Thanks for the vids won 2nd in beginner's tournament in apa rules. Still entering the more advanced tournaments with bca rules with 7s and higher just for practice it hasn't been pretty but good practice. Keep the vids coming.
I have heard many people explain the ghost ball method, but nobody satisfactorily shows how to put it to practice or how they use it. How do they find the ghost ball centre point. So far you had the best explanation. I use the ferrule on my pool cue as a guide. It is just a little over 1". The diameter of the ball as 2.25". Although I have been playing recreationally since the age of 11 (I am 63) I have only heard about the ghost ball method in the last 4-5 years. In the past I always did things by feel.
I've been playing 14.1 a lot lately too. My biggest frustration is that my pockets are 4 1/8" and ill get moving along smoothly and all the sudden, an easy shot will bobble. So fn frustrating!!
Excellent! A question: Shall we presume that, from the moment you identify the ghost ball center, that you never, not even for a split second, move your focus to the cue ball, in order to place your cue correctly ?
Incorrect... When I get step into the shot, and get down on the cue ball, I focus between the cue ball and object ball. I focus on the cue ball in order for me to know that I'll be striking the cue ball in the location that I want.
I like live or recorded when the instructor let's people know when they didn't hit all shots on the first try. Admitting it is not as easy as it looks helps my confidence to try things.
Great video. So you actually use several aiming methods depending on the shot, but always use the Ghost Ball method as a base. Do you ever use the edge of your stick?
I wouldn't say that I use several aiming systems, but I do agree with the Ghost Ball as a base. As for the edge of the stick, I haven't tried that out yet.
I should clarify that, if live streams are easier to do and produce, and they meet your usual high standard of quality, it might be more ideal. For you and us. Sharivari has spent a ridiculous amount of time on producing some vids. Spit and polish is great, but a few misses and verbal, ah, miscues make it real.
Although I'm not a proponent of ghost ball for primary aiming, there are so many little, well articulated truths about the mental process (what I call the aiming computer) in this video. As always, good work, Chris. Often, an astute advanced student such as Chris is a better instructor than the absolute magician such as Earl Strickland or Efren Reyes, or, or...
I was never really a CTE user. I just did my 2 videos on it cause my followers asked me to try and explain it. So I did some research and experimenting with it and made the 2 videos I did.
Something that was NOT covered here and is VERY important is cut induced throw. It is real and it matters. For example: On the first example shot you showed shooting the ball into the side pocket. From that angle, if you line up the shot with the ghost ball to go STRAIGHT into the middle of the side pocket; the target ball is NOT going to go into the middle of the side pocket. It will go into the side pocket if you hit the ghost ball spot, but not the middle of the pocket because at that angle there is going to be cut induced spin on the target ball and that spin is going to move the ball to the left at least a little bit - unless you hit the cue ball with a bit of left english, which will throw the target ball back STRAIGHT into the pocket. I am a very straight shooter and started with the ghost ball method and use it on EVERY shot (most of the time without really thinking about it), but I learned a long time ago you must account for cut induced throw. So the way I teach people is to line up the ghost ball with a REAL BALL directly against the target ball. Then shoot the cue ball straight at the REAL BALL that is acting like the ghosts ball and against the target ball. That will show you how much on any shot that cut induced throw will make the target ball go off target. On some shots it is quite a bit, on others (like the first shot into the side pocket mentioned earlier) it will be just a bit. The ghost ball method is by FAR the easiest and most reliable way to start aiming as long as you take into consideration cut induced throw.
@@mrb7476 no no no. I have tested this and shown this hundreds if not thousands of times. But whether it throws the ball off more or not is not the point - the point is that cut induced throw happens and if you are going to use the ghost ball aiming system and NOT counter that with some spin on the cue ball you are going to miss shows because of the CIT. All you have to do is test yourself. Tor Lowry, and others, have very very good videos on this.
That cat cracks me up. As for aiming systems? Meh. Although the ghost ball thing is good for beginners. I see these "aiming system" videos and think folks should run, not walk from these systems. Worse thing in any sport is to overthink. In pool, best aiming system is time on table whether competing or just practicing. Over time, your brain automatically calculates the aim point and angle on any shot. Rare to even bother looking directly at the pocket when sizing up the shot. You see the pocket in your peripheral vision and your brain quickly works it all all.
Best ghost ball video I have seen so far Chris. Very helpful. Thank you so much.

This live coaching was fantastic, thanks Rod Fox.

Lots of great tips on this one.

awesome. I'm on the roar to being able to run racks, atm i cant run 1 so this will help me learn and practice more. Thank you.
Wow this really great hopefully it 'll improve my aiming thx bro

+1 sub, awesome video.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts process 👍🔥🔥🔥
great content bro >>>> greetings from Egypt
Your doing great Chris. I’m just getting into pool again from when I was good in the 60’s. No that I’m 71 I’ll let you know when Get past 6 lol 🤣

Live, recorded … doesn’t matter to me . It’s the quality of the instruction. This was good.

Nicely done . My ghost aiming mats will help build that visual.
You got a link you can drop for those ghost aiming mats bud?
@@LilChrisPoolPlayer I will send it shortly bro. I don’t have them on eBay yet.
Nice one!.. I like your cat friend too👍🇳🇿

it is very effective

Hey Chris do you play one pocket if so will you do a video of how to play the game.
I only know the basics of one pocket
Ok well if you decide to make a video that be cool.
At your Frag/apa, most of comps are on 8 footers ?
APA league is primarily played on 7ft tables.
Thank you
So you shoot to the spot on table? Or transfer spot to o.b.?
I shoot to a spot on the table, that automatically transfers to a spot on the object ball.
100.000✌️💪

I was never really a CTE user. I just did my 2 videos on it cause my followers asked me to try and explain it. So I did some research and experimenting with it and made the 2 videos I did.
I like any , but the live is best if you could see the questions as you play.
Whats the name of your spurrrring friend? Havent spotted mr/mrs cat before
That's Zelda. It's a he with a rather funny story how he has the gaming female character's name.

Putting a ball in the ghost ball position and then shooting can cause much more throw than just shooting the shot with out the extra ball.
