Great video Chris! Very well explained! Can definitely tell you've been working on it as you look very comfortable! Keep up the fantastic work and and thanks again for all that you do for the game we all love! 👍 😊 🎱
I'll be headed to the pool hall today to play with one of my pool Buddies. He usually leaves early so I will work on this after that. Thanks again Chris.
So happy to find your videos. I am a granny who played pool years ago and wants to go back into it. Looking for a used pool table. Will have your videos in front of me when I get it -so stand back kids! Love you!
When watching your videos I've always loved how you explain things completely and in great detail. Not only do I see that you're an awesome pool shooter, but an awesome teacher as well! Thanks for uploading this!
This is the first 'system' video of any kind I actually paid attention to. Guys like me who've been playing a long time, and the pros too are pretty much running on instinct. I really like this and will use it to fine tune my kicking game.
Just want to let you know. I watched this demo a couple of months ago and won a game shortly after on the eight ball bank. Today I won two eight ball banks and pocketed a few conventional banks. Works well. Fun part is when I stand upright looking so pro like I try to do LOL, analyzing the situation, split the difference and drag my cue. Then shoot. I don't say much. Makes me look bada@@. It is true that you have to make sure it is dead center (no up down left or right) with moderate speed. Fun stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Lil Chris...You Rock! Used it in real match last night. Kicked a ball straight into pocket, that I would be lucky to make contact with prior to this video. Even got a cheer, which always feels awesome. I gave you all the credit.
I know this video is old by now but this system is what I’ve been looking for! I’ve tried the 2 to 1 system from Dr Dave but trying to adjust outside of those lines always confused me. This is a simple system that works every time. Definitely going to practice this one!
Thank you so much! You are the first one explaining this system that made clear you should consider the ghost ball when making the reference lines and not the object ball.
Enjoyed hearing you say, "It just doesn't get any easier than that." I look forward to the day when I can say the same thing. Of course, your explanations are perfect. You are a terrific teacher!
Good refresher, if I played a guy who constantly was doing that with cue ball would drive me nuts, practice this at home and learn to visually do this without the cue
This might be the missing link for me. I'm constantly getting close on kicks and not knowing why I'm missing. Not able to improve much after years of trying. Very very nicely explained Chris. Thank you!
I've been using this system for a week now and man when I get it right, it is RIGHT ON! Right at the ghost ball. I have found it going long several times which is very puzzling. I've been really making sure no spin, hitting exactly where I need to. After rewatching, I think I'm hitting too slow, not with intentional roll. It has worked too perfectly to not want to use it and perfect it.
I've used this a lot and it seems to work better if you use the line of diamonds for measuring rather than the rail. I.E. put cue tip on the diamond line not at the edge of the rail or edge of pocket. Not so easy to pivot the cue when the diamond line is in the center of the pocket but it's doable. Center ball or half tip above center seems to be best. As always, your videos are super helpful. Thanks
This is pure gold ! I was struggling so damn hard on my rail shots but this helped me instantly. My GF is now mad that I'm potting nearly all my rail shots. And she has no clue what I'm doing when I 'm using your system. Thank you and greetings from Belgium 😉
Greetings from Florida ⛱️great video in explaining everything. You make it sound so easy. Getting ready to go right now and try it. Thank you so much !
I learned this system a little differently. After measuring the first reference line and find the midpoint, I would parallel shift the cue to the midpoint pointing the cue perpendicular to the rail. You can also use the diamonds as references. Your cue should be pointing to the same final point, then just aim at the point on the rail. You can still pivot the cue angle if you need to, but probably not needed if you have the focus.
@@Bratman10 During his explanation, Chris measured the first reference line at the arch of the side pocket. Then from there, found the midpoint between that point in the arch of the pocket to the cue ball. At this point, where Chris' cue is on the first reference line pointing at the opposite pocket, this is where I learned it differently. Instead of pivoting the cue, leaving the tip pointing at the opposite pocket and having the butt of the cue over the midpoint, I would just parallel shift the cue so that the butt of the cue is over the midpoint. The tip of the cue will be pointing at the same aim point Chris ends up with after the final step. You can optionally pivot the cue if you need to do so in order to find your shooting line, but I normally skip this step and remember the spot. Where Chris mention the parallel shift over the destination, I think it has to do the pivoting before parallel shift, because it may be difficult to maintain that pivot angle. It is easier to see that your cue is perpendicular to the rail rather than some random pivot angle.
@@coderz4life Wait, so you're basically saying I really don't need to draw lines, just find the damn midpoint and aim and shoot the cue ball at that point on the rail????
Thanks Chris. I won a game of eight ball yesterday with that very that very same shot, same pocket etc using this technique. It works. Thanks for sharing.
I think the best explanation was talking about dead rails. People forget some tables are... questionable. That's why you hit a table early and practice a few of these shots to see how far off your banks land.
I have watched the first 6 minutes of this video I think like five times now easily keep turning it back learning a lot once again from these videos thank you so much for posting this I couldn't figure out how I'm making me shops sometimes but this will make it a lot easier. My initial comment I erased because I still haven't seen past the 8 Minute mark
Great video...one question when you measure the distance you go from destination to Start of Q ball not Q ball center...is this correct or am i over thinking...??
I have the same question, I noticed little Chris was emphasizing repeatedly " from the start of the cue ball ". Can you answer this question for me too?
Good point , I use the X system I saw on your video. But, by using both , I can have a double reference on lining up these shots... A little more confidence on kicks and banks, or the 3-5-8 leagues.
Amazing video! With all the different systems and complexity of those systems, they can become hard to quickly figure out your shot at the table especially in high pressure situations. This is simple and I use a similar system for 2 rail kick so it allows me to use similar systems for both type of kick shots. Thanks for showing us this and keep up the good work. Love the videos and and your simplistic approach. Your a great teacher.
Female 78, I learned playing Billiards after I retired, I did not know I am good and love it enjoy it so much. Your instructions bought me Chris! Will practice and remember of you. Thanks
Great lesson! Still practicing to add English to the system for cue ball placement. Also, this system needs to adjust how close you are to the opposing rail.
Hi Chris: I have basically used this system for a longtime. However, the booby trap is if unintended left or right spin is present all is for naught. So hitting the ball exactly neutral is necessary for this all to work. The real skill is when a hit with authority is required, understanding the condition of the table, the cloth, the condition of the balls, the firmness of the rails and if any spin is also required knowing how much spin to use. Nice job though. Have a great day.
Thanks, Chris. I've been using a less scientific version of this system with sporadic success. Hopefully, your explanation will sort me out. Thanks again.
Great system & love how you walk through things so clear and smooth, it's easy to understand (and remember!) Also, awesome shirt! What's your favorite version & main character?
I learned this method unintentionally about a year ago. A method I was using for short rail and sometimes a long rail kick (if object ball is close to the rail) is to measure the distance from the ghost ball contact point and opposite rail (under the cushion for hard shots, under the cue balls contact spot with the rail for soft shots). You then take that exact length you measured and imagine you extended it past the rail from the second contact point you measured. Essentially doubling the line from the point of the ghost ball. Then you just have to aim at the imaginary end of that line from where the cue ball is at. Best thing to do for this is look at a spot on the wall past the imaginary line point (after you get down on your shot and see the right angle!) and focus on that. In theory, if measured correctly with correct speed, you'll hit your ghost ball spot.
I then realized the halfway point between the ghost ball and my object ball was the fulcrum from where I measure, and if I calculate this (similar to your bank method) I would have an additional variable to QC my measurement against. Allowing me to dial in the aim more. This method you showed now adds an additional variable to measure and confirm that angle, since we are essentially finding the other corner of the imaginary rectangle all these vectors are making. [Note, this is the method I use that has been working and im not 100% sure this is correct theory, but it works for me.]
I did well at the company/Post office tournament. Made it to quarter finals. Didn't pocket many kicks, but I made contact on all of them preventing ball in hand. That kept me in the games.
Great video Chris. Very well explained and looks easy to execute. I am definitely going to try this out in my next practice. I will let everyone know what how I did after my next practice session. BTW, Keep up with the great videos!
So I said that I was going to follow-up here in the comments about this kicking system. In 2 words, IT WORKS! 😄 Right after watching this, I was able to go to my pool hall and practice and it came pretty quickly. The biggest adjustment that I had to make is my "rolling speed" and not hitting it with any spin. Other than that, I have been using this system ever since I watched it and it really has helped. I have even made some kicks that my opponent didn't think was possible! 🤨😮 If there is only a 1 bank and it's a tough shot, I also go back to this system. If I miss, I think it is because I have not found exactly where the mid-point is. Thank you Chris! 😄 BTW, for future videos, in post production, is there anyway that if you are using a rail, that you can put a dot or line so we can see where you are aiming and hitting. 🤔 Knowing that would be really helpful. Once again, keep up with the great videos. 😃
Can't tell where the tip of your cue is when you measure? Especially when the destination is the center of either the side or corner pocket? Thanks for being willing to help us all become better players! You are the best!
Wow I think this is the best 1 rail kick system I've seen. One thing I notice though, you're not technically using the point that makes contact with the rail and your not using the cooresponding point on the rail in line with the diamonds. You're actually using the recessed area under the rail. So this seems like it works well for shots that are 2 diamonds away, but as the cb and object ball are further away the system will be less accurate even if you are getting the midpoint exactly correct and you parallel shift exactly correct. Isn't it the point on the rail that makes contact with the cb? Regardless this is the best system I think I've seen since it so fast
I enjoyed this video, and you hammered in the mechanics and how and the issues. But it's is missing 1 thing that needs explanation. The reference point on the opposite side, is it at the rail, base of the rail or where the center of the ball contacts the table.
I'm new to your channel and I'm happy to find that your teaching technique is good, very good actually. And some of your tips, like the kicking system shown here, are great. However, you're competing with a million other experts, many of whom use graphics to emphasize certain points. This video in particular could be much better if you added arrows to the various spots on the rail you are pointing out, the mid-point you are using, and the ghost ball positions you mention. Likewise, a series of graphic lines edited into the video would illustrate the system, the proper angles, and the desired path of the balls much better than just pointing with your cue. Slow motion and/or stop action shots help a lot too. I know that editing is the most difficult and time consuming part of making and publishing a video like this one, but modern editing software makes the job easier. Think about upping your editing game to match the high quality of your instructional game.
Great video Chris but I think, for myself anyway, it would help if you showed close-ups on the white/object balls as I cant see if yer referencing the lines through the middle of the balls or where it(the white ball)strikes the object ball in order to sink it. I hope that makes sense and you know what I'm talking about. Thx
Ive watched this video a couple of times. and have had mixed results with this. today i noticed you said something that i didn't catch in my previous views. at Approx 6:53 you said from the center of the Ghost ball. i always measured from the center of object ball. i think that is a very important key to having success with this system and should be emphasized.
Thanks for this great, yet simple, tutorial! Could you simplify this further by eliminating the first step/reference line? Start with the butt of the cue at the mid-point with the tip pointed at the point on the rail opposite the ultimate destination. Then conduct the shift to find the actual impact point on the rail.
Great video Chris!
Very well explained!

Awesome Chris ! Thanks
If you practice any system enough, I'm sure you can find little shortcuts.
