As a parent in the district as well as a graduate of Springfield School District myself, I find the district argument that it would be too costly to remedy these issues to be laughable. That is an incredible statement considering the vast, monumental cost of the complex of athletic fields, including dedicated practice fields, that the district so lavishly spent our school taxes on, all while compromising the size of the high school building, (with its giant, sterile central courtyard), such that it is already becoming overcrowded due to insufficient classroom space. I suppose that doesn't really matter, however, since the building does look quite impressive from the outside. Looking good from the outside (AKA "Style over Substance") seems to be the direction that the district has settled on.
