Lions vs Elephants Life on the Edge
For decades, the Savuti pride on the western border of the Chobe National Park in Botswana has ruled supreme. This pride of lions, numbering up to 40, hunt elephants. It's become their specialty because lions don't normally go after these gentle giants.
Life on the Edge is a story of a few lionesses and elephants who are forced to leave their pride to travel north to the Chobe River.
The animals adventures while just trying to survive. We take you along. It gets a bit brutal. But nature is sometimes like that.

Thanks so much for sharing this great doc! Not even size can backen down the lion, truly king of the beasts. I also enjoy the social bond of these elephants 🐘 too and how they all mourned the loss of their matriarch. Both animals are so very alike and special! I like the challenges that each must endure if they are to survive. The resilience of both lions and elephants is incredible. I hope that there are more docs like this brought to RUclips by the future!

Do you really think, Nature itself needs the "help" of Mankind? THink again... Sure its a cruel world outside in the wild. But what do we with domestic animals?? Thats more cruel and a pervers way! Dont eat this Meat... Dont cry for the free wild animals .... but cry for all the animals, suffering in (our/YOUR?) cages..., waiting for death - but beloved from Kids or Adult Humans?! for (just 1) example: Birds in cruel-small cages? Nature dont need us - but we need Nature!

If someone can help at this time, it was the Filmcrew...btw, i just wonder, why Lions, hyenas or other predators just dont jump in the vehicles and get a free Meal?? Someday there will be a clever Lion(ess) - and pick one of the "Safariens" and enjoy a special Meal - but i dont think its delicious because of all the soap and shampoo humans need before safari.

What a beautiful and endearing animal video. One of the best I’ve seen in a long while!
Elephants seem to have patience and provide loving care to its orphans and little ones. They seem to show empathy to lost or dying elephants. Although they can be aggressive to each other and predators, they just seem to be such caring animals. They seem to have to the same or similar family structures in the caring of others in their herd or prides. It’s beautiful to see in each of their family dynamics.
The only thing making me sad is that the male lions killing the offspring of other male lions. Then to hear that the elephant matriarch was killed by lions. They grieve for one another.
    Thank you another grand video!

@@melloone611 / @Paul Matthews, when you say "interfere", do you mean pursuading the large group of 400 plus lb, terrifyingly deadly monsters, that can see at night and that are hunting the multi-ton lumbering monsters, that would trample you without a thought? First, besides being childishly unrealistic, its also illegal, for a reason, and would sooner end up in tragedy than anything else. The production company would probably face stiff civil penalties and would lose any license granting access and thus destroying the reason they are there: TO DOCUMENT NATURE! I don't really get what is up with you people, if you are children or simple adults, but it would be extremely odd to take one's chosen field, especially a niche one and then work to undo it, both in a literal and metaphorical sense.

The desperation of the elephants throughout this documentary is extraordinary and very sad. It’s such a delicate balance of survival for all the species that exist in those wildlands. But watching highly intelligent mammals struggle to survive and leave their young behind to die when they cannot save them is just so heartbreaking. We need severe punishment for people that harm and exploit all endangered animals. They are struggling enough as is.

I've watched it in other documentaries and the new males are like well that didn't go as planned. Females control the pride period, if they don't like new males the females will all gang up on them and let them know they aren't welcome here and if the females like the new males they will stay and have their babies. The thing about elephants that amazes me is their trunk is strong enough to pull a Nile Crocodile out of the water.

Seriously? I’d like to see that!
The whole time the young male was hurt and in the water, I was anticipating a crocodile to lunge out and eat the baby elephant almost whole! 😱

IT'S REALLY SHOCKING, SAD AND ALMOST FRIGHTENING TO WITNESS WHAT WILDLIFE MUST DO TO SURVIVE. I'VE BEEN WATCHING THESE DOCUMENTARIES FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND IT'S GOTTEN A BIT EASIER TO WATCH A PREDITOR TAKE DOWN ITS PREY. BUT I MUST ADMIT THAT I STILL SHUDDER AND CLOSE MY EYES WHEN THE KILL SEEMS TO TAKE TOO LONG AND LOOKS SO BRUTAL.

probably a good thing new males came for genetic diversity. two lions holding a 40 deep pride for ten years sounds cool but is actually really bad for procreation through generations.

Loins and elephants have always been my 2 favorite. Elephants because how they always take care of their own. Even if they are injured they won't leave them behind. As for the lions? I love the mane on the male lions. They are so beautiful, proud, and majestically fierce. Thank you for posting this video. Very well put together. Your narration was very informative suspenseful and exciting. Great job!
