I remember reviews being either "it's so bad it's good" or "for a whole movie done pretty much by one person, it's really good" or "it's niche but if you already know about it you're probably the target audience & you'll like it" to "hilarious indie masterpiece and an inspiration to us all"
You know you can trust in a game when the dev is constantly sharing realistic gameplay and talking about what's going on and what will be expanded or fixed.
I love that this series is almost 30 years old yet the creator still makes stuff related to it and it's still hilarious and high quality. The game looks sick and if physics/ragdolls play a role then I will get it without even thinking about it.
Bro it’s devs like you that give me hope in the gaming industry. Elements of max pain, hitman, splinter cell, borderlands, so much inspiration involved. This is what it means to make a fun fucking game.
A suggestion for pickups, have them magnetize toward killer bean when close enough (or have an upgrade that does this) so you dont run into a situation where you are in a firefight and theres those health drops but you end up missing them because you weren't touching them
@@KillerBean i was thinking "why not also have it where doing a melee finisher auto magnets all the drops to you like in Doom" but then i remembered the balance for that was limited Chainsaw ammo. then again they had the Glory Kill system, but gives minor rewards as its not really risky at all. man, balancing a game must be hard cuz when i start thinking like this in comparisons, it just turns in to a thought loop. though the most important part ive started considering these days is "what does the dev want?"
I've first watched Killer Bean Forever when I was a kid and since then I've been hooked on this series. I've watched EVERYTHING, even the 1996 movie and it fills my heart with joy when I see that this man is still pursuing his passion and giving us awesome content.
I love how straightforward you were with the bugs. Made it feel very genuine like youre a dev trying rather than hiding the blemishes out of fear of rejection. This game seems increadibly fun. I hope the slow mo diving gets more tweeks and possibly a ragdoll physics for diving head first into a wall lmao (and possibly a ability to jump off a wall your diving jnto for extra air time + avoiding radoll fail lol)
The enemies announcing their actions reminds me a lot of the enemy AI in F.E.A.R. Enemies announce their moves to give you a heads-up, but also act immediately which gives you a short time for decision. From what I can tell, despite being WIP, it's really nice. I do have one gripe though, when they are searching for the player, it seems that they give up very fast. Other than that I love it so far and cannot wait to play this when it comes out :)
@@KillerBeanI just got the idea so it's not very polished, but I was thinking about there being some enemies that would be more aggressive in their search and would stay on your trail for longer (possibly even pre-firing around corners), maybe through a "courage" value, and (if there are any) more dangerous enemy types would have a higher courage, making them some sort of mini boss that's harder to run away from. PD: I'm really looking forward to playing this game, thanks for everything!

@@Dr.Oofersmakes me sad, because if you look at dev interviews from older games (also, arguably the “golden age” of CoD games) like CoD4 for example, you can tell that the devs are actually passionate about what they’re creating and even go as far as working overtime or working on weekends to create a better experience for everyone. They quite literally are creating art, and I just don’t feel that some passion for the art in most modern games anymore. Obviously there are some exceptions like The Last of Us or Cyberpunk 2077 which seem to have caring developers, but my point still stands.
The fact that you can do stealth in this game and the slow-mo mechanic really reminded me of the Reflex Mode mechanic from Metal Gear Solid 5. Perhaps you could add it as an unlockable skill where the slow-mo auto triggers when you're spotted, and unlike MGS 5, it would be a lot more balanced since your energy appears to be limited from what I can see

It's so cool to see how much it's improved over time, especially the animations and added mechanics. Two things I'd love to eventually see are skill/health upgrades and melee weapons! P.S. Please leave the ragdoll bugs in, or add an optional "wacky ragdoll physics" mode that lets the ragdolls go crazy lol
One of my favorite things about the Batman Arkham games is that you can sneak up on enemies and basically take down all of them that way. Looks like that’s what you’re doing and I love it
You could also consider adding a alarm that a npc can press to alert the whole facility Let players take out the alarm otherwise run the risk of a npc running to the alarm if they see you
Yes, I'm definitely adding an alarm. Some missions require that you let the NPC's set off an alarm, so that you can assassinate a high value target that is part of the reinforcement team. 😁

That speech while searching around for someone brings me right back to Far Cry 2 stealth, and that has got to be some of my favorite stealth in a game because of the response the enemies give to various actions taking place. This is absolutely amazing.

I really hope there's a map builder or something like "legacy levels" where you can playthrough maps based off the original movie, like the warehouses or the police station etc

My friend FORCED me to watch Killer Bean forever with them. It grew on me. And now that I've seen this, I'm so hyped to play it. This is honestly has more love poured into it than a lot of other 3rd person shooters that have come out lately. Happy to see you hard at work, and enjoying the development process. I would definitely stick with 1st person. The sliding, diving and slowmo look a lot more intense that way. The ragdolls already capture that signature Killer Bean jank perfectly. Is multiplayer planned? It'd be a fun time doing wave based survival with friends
The gameplay looks insanely good. The amount of moves you can do is amazing. I love absolutely the implementation of slow motion diving and sliding. You just need to improve those animations so the character model is pointing exactly where it's shooting like in 2:08. Keep up the tremendous work! I wish you the best of luck in this project. This will certainly be in my wish list!

This game looks insane I'm hyped for it. The way the enemies shout at you is such a throwback to borderlands as well, I imagine hearing a grunt shouting something like "Drop yer gear I'll let you go" or something like that, it would be hilarious.

The switch between 1st and 3rd person is natural, the hand to hand combat looks awesome, and the special abilities do correspond with film killer bean. Definetely a great work
So far this looks phenomenal - gunplay and movement are smooth and slick, first and third person aiming. I would love to see a few timed trials/challenges with varying difficulties and scenarios. Please take as long as you need and release this when it really, truly is done (keeping in mind it's OK if it's not 'perfect' at release). We're all very excited
the stealth system looks really good and i like the goofy dialogue the enemy beans have. keep up the good work 5:50 also the whole sequence when all the beans rush over made me laugh. Especially when the random green bean just got bullied by what i assume is his own team after just saying "nice shot".
Killer Bean's gold gun itself was more than enough to handle the enemies and his bullets were made of pure gold. If you recognize and add up some story means for sure it will become the best game. Hope you do it since I'm a hardcore killer bean fan.
Y'know usually people get hyped about games when seeing cinematics of them, but this is one of the few games I've seen that manage to create hype with gameplay alone
I've recently been watching a lot of "Game Maker's Toolkit" on good things to do when making video games and I love how basically EVERYTHING you listed here, showed in the video, and suggested as future ideas, literally hit the nail on the head in terms of creativity, quality, passion, and extreme amounts and layers of depth to the game! Brilliant work! Can't wait to see more!
The game by far looks super high quality, great shading and lighting, nice looking UI, and the moves/weapons look and perform quite nice. Major improvement since the last devlog, can't wait to play this game!
Awesome Progress. Can I give a few suggestions? 1. Can you add BULLET DODGE (like in the movie) or a KATANA to deflect bullets? 2. Can you expand a little on melee combat (maybe a lot of finisher animations). I love the martial art animations in the final fight of the KB forever movie. I'm so HYPED! GREAT WORK!!!
Thanks! Yes, bullet dodges are already in there. I forgot to show them in this video, but the trailer shows some dodging. When ever Killer Bean gets hit, he flashes yellow. If you press the dodge button during the flashes, you will do a dodge and take no damage. Yes, a lot more melee moves will be added. Jet Bean will have a lot of moves!

@@KillerBeanfor the finishers you should take inspiration from the Yakuza series’ heat moves. I don’t know if you’re already inspired by the game but they have finishers where they interact with the surroundings like walls, floors, bikes and other items.
My favorite part was when Killer Bean said "its beaning time" and then beaned everyone. all jokes aside i like to see the emphasis on difficulty and open ended situations that still make you think.
It's impressive how first-person looks straight out of a Triple-A game! I wonder how flipping in First person would be, though. It could look amazing! I also think you should add ragdoll physics to when you hit objects head-first when slow-mo jumping. That way people won't mindlessly spam it and need to look for sweet spots to activate it adding a layer of depth to combat
Good points! There is some flipping in first person after a slow mo dive, but not during jumping. I tried it during jumping, and it's very disorienting.
@@KillerBeandoes that mean a small flip as you jump, or a large flip that stretches over the entire jump? I reckon the latter could work in first person, like you’re aiming up into the ground as you turn, jumping over enemies. though that’s just a thought it may not work too well inngame
I just found out about Killer Bean Forever today and I just have to say that your dedication to this franchise is amazing. It does my heart good to see passion like this especially in the gaming industry.
This feels alot like metal gear solid 5 with how the enemies start looking for you when you are alerted and the stealth takedowns are very similar too. It looks like a really fun stealth/shooter game. This game has more effort in it than alot of steam guys ive seen and im impressed. Good luck on completing the game.
I gotta say. I first saw Killer Bean when i was a kid on complete accident, i forgot it existed i literally thought it was some kind of made up movie my kid brain remembered. Until one day i saw it again and holy crap was that a mind blow. Good to see this is getting better and better.
Those bad beans are smarter than ANY enemie from a damn AAA game where you are invisible at 5m in front of them and then they didn't even seems to do some damage lol which is amazing because that confirms that using the slow-mo does not allow you to be damn inmortal or something.

I rly love how we get updates about this game and i have some suggestions about those updates Change the "spotted" sound to give you the "oh sh!t" feel More guns, like snipers, and such, When being spotted, start playing some sick music Make killer bean reload his 2 pistols at the same time or give them unlimited ammo, breakable glass so we can lure beans or jump through them to make a dramatic entrance. Making the guns sound more powerful when being fired These are all the suggestions i can think of now, i am rly excited for this game and i will surely wishlist it, even tho idk how wishlists work
Thanks! There will be a lot of weapon types, like sniper, sub machine gun, heavy machine gun, launcher. And each type will be proceduralized too. Music will be added. Breakable glass is coming for dramatic entrances!

I think the difficulty could be amped up just slightly. It seemed like you were never in danger in that near-death mode stretch, just casually getting by with 2 HP for the whole time. That said it looks really good, can't wait to try Early Access.

I cannot wait for this game, the progress has been amazing looking so far! A suggestion for different types of bullets, perhaps taking a more realistic approach in terms of the types would be a good idea? The movie and series are, for the most part, fairly realistic if you don't count the walking talking beans. Types like armor piercing, hollowpoint, explosive as you mentioned, incineary, etc. Maybe also have gold bullets as a homage to Killer Bean Forever?

I watched this video after watching The Day Before gameplay and I'm just blown away at how incompetent AAA game studios are at this point. Looking forward to playing this! I would like to see more stealth mechanics added like dropping in on enemies and such.
Movement and mechanics look really well made! However, there will be one addition to this game that would be a 10/10 for me... bow and arrow. Ragdolls bouncing on walls with a pierced arrow, silent kills, a more Rambo like look, could have a bunch of varing bows with different pull strengths, etc. I'd love that.

Thanks, yes loot pickups have some magnet range. I plan to make a skill where you can increase the loot pickup range, like in Doom.

Let players take out the alarm otherwise run the risk of a npc running to the alarm if they see you
Yes, I'm definitely adding an alarm. Some missions require that you let the NPC's set off an alarm, so that you can assassinate a high value target that is part of the reinforcement team. 😁

That speech while searching around for someone brings me right back to Far Cry 2 stealth, and that has got to be some of my favorite stealth in a game because of the response the enemies give to various actions taking place. This is absolutely amazing.

My friend FORCED me to watch Killer Bean forever with them. It grew on me. And now that I've seen this, I'm so hyped to play it. This is honestly has more love poured into it than a lot of other 3rd person shooters that have come out lately. Happy to see you hard at work, and enjoying the development process. I would definitely stick with 1st person. The sliding, diving and slowmo look a lot more intense that way. The ragdolls already capture that signature Killer Bean jank perfectly. Is multiplayer planned? It'd be a fun time doing wave based survival with friends
Yes, one of the first updates I make during Early Access will be online multiplayer. But multiplayer won't be ready on launch though.
I would probably stick with 3rd person most of the time, because i have enough first person games. Each to his own.

The gameplay looks insanely good. The amount of moves you can do is amazing. I love absolutely the implementation of slow motion diving and sliding. You just need to improve those animations so the character model is pointing exactly where it's shooting like in 2:08. Keep up the tremendous work! I wish you the best of luck in this project. This will certainly be in my wish list!

This game looks insane I'm hyped for it. The way the enemies shout at you is such a throwback to borderlands as well, I imagine hearing a grunt shouting something like "Drop yer gear I'll let you go" or something like that, it would be hilarious.
This is unironically one of my most anticipated games right now man, take all the time you need, looks fantastic already and I can't wait to see what you add.

The switch between 1st and 3rd person is natural, the hand to hand combat looks awesome, and the special abilities do correspond with film killer bean. Definetely a great work

So far this looks phenomenal - gunplay and movement are smooth and slick, first and third person aiming. I would love to see a few timed trials/challenges with varying difficulties and scenarios.
Please take as long as you need and release this when it really, truly is done (keeping in mind it's OK if it's not 'perfect' at release). We're all very excited

Killer Bean's gold gun itself was more than enough to handle the enemies and his bullets were made of pure gold. If you recognize and add up some story means for sure it will become the best game. Hope you do it since I'm a hardcore killer bean fan.
Y'know usually people get hyped about games when seeing cinematics of them, but this is one of the few games I've seen that manage to create hype with gameplay alone

I've recently been watching a lot of "Game Maker's Toolkit" on good things to do when making video games and I love how basically EVERYTHING you listed here, showed in the video, and suggested as future ideas, literally hit the nail on the head in terms of creativity, quality, passion, and extreme amounts and layers of depth to the game!

1. Can you add BULLET DODGE (like in the movie) or a KATANA to deflect bullets?
2. Can you expand a little on melee combat (maybe a lot of finisher animations). I love the martial art animations in the final fight of the KB forever movie.

Thanks! Yes, bullet dodges are already in there. I forgot to show them in this video, but the trailer shows some dodging. When ever Killer Bean gets hit, he flashes yellow. If you press the dodge button during the flashes, you will do a dodge and take no damage. Yes, a lot more melee moves will be added. Jet Bean will have a lot of moves!

@@KillerBeanfor the finishers you should take inspiration from the Yakuza series’ heat moves. I don’t know if you’re already inspired by the game but they have finishers where they interact with the surroundings like walls, floors, bikes and other items.

It's impressive how first-person looks straight out of a Triple-A game! I wonder how flipping in First person would be, though. It could look amazing! I also think you should add ragdoll physics to when you hit objects head-first when slow-mo jumping. That way people won't mindlessly spam it and need to look for sweet spots to activate it adding a layer of depth to combat
Good points! There is some flipping in first person after a slow mo dive, but not during jumping. I tried it during jumping, and it's very disorienting.
@@KillerBeandoes that mean a small flip as you jump, or a large flip that stretches over the entire jump? I reckon the latter could work in first person, like you’re aiming up into the ground as you turn, jumping over enemies. though that’s just a thought it may not work too well inngame

I just found out about Killer Bean Forever today and I just have to say that your dedication to this franchise is amazing. It does my heart good to see passion like this especially in the gaming industry.
This feels alot like metal gear solid 5 with how the enemies start looking for you when you are alerted and the stealth takedowns are very similar too. It looks like a really fun stealth/shooter game. This game has more effort in it than alot of steam guys ive seen and im impressed. Good luck on completing the game.

I gotta say. I first saw Killer Bean when i was a kid on complete accident, i forgot it existed i literally thought it was some kind of made up movie my kid brain remembered.
Until one day i saw it again and holy crap was that a mind blow. Good to see this is getting better and better.
Those bad beans are smarter than ANY enemie from a damn AAA game where you are invisible at 5m in front of them and then they didn't even seems to do some damage lol which is amazing because that confirms that using the slow-mo does not allow you to be damn inmortal or something.
It's gorgeous, it's very balanced and incredibly fun, hope you can add a little harder AI to some enemies, maybe also some melee weapons

Change the "spotted" sound to give you the "oh sh!t" feel
More guns, like snipers, and such,
When being spotted, start playing some sick music
Make killer bean reload his 2 pistols at the same time or give them unlimited ammo, breakable glass so we can lure beans or jump through them to make a dramatic entrance.
Making the guns sound more powerful when being fired
These are all the suggestions i can think of now, i am rly excited for this game and i will surely wishlist it, even tho idk how wishlists work
Thanks! There will be a lot of weapon types, like sniper, sub machine gun, heavy machine gun, launcher. And each type will be proceduralized too. Music will be added. Breakable glass is coming for dramatic entrances!

I think the difficulty could be amped up just slightly. It seemed like you were never in danger in that near-death mode stretch, just casually getting by with 2 HP for the whole time. That said it looks really good, can't wait to try Early Access.

A suggestion for different types of bullets, perhaps taking a more realistic approach in terms of the types would be a good idea? The movie and series are, for the most part, fairly realistic if you don't count the walking talking beans. Types like armor piercing, hollowpoint, explosive as you mentioned, incineary, etc.
Maybe also have gold bullets as a homage to Killer Bean Forever?

I watched this video after watching The Day Before gameplay and I'm just blown away at how incompetent AAA game studios are at this point. Looking forward to playing this! I would like to see more stealth mechanics added like dropping in on enemies and such.

Dude oh my God I was not expecting for this game to look this good.
Movement and mechanics look really well made!
However, there will be one addition to this game that would be a 10/10 for me... bow and arrow. Ragdolls bouncing on walls with a pierced arrow, silent kills, a more Rambo like look, could have a bunch of varing bows with different pull strengths, etc. I'd love that.
I find it amazing that killer bean was first an animation from the mid 90s then another was made 4 or 5 years later THEN it had a movie and now it’s going to be an open world game this is amazing and I can’t wait to watch others play this game too.
