I'm putting in my time. I plan on pursuing this craft as my retirement job.
Thanks for sharing your journey
This was so beautiful to watch and listen to. Thank you!
welcome to RUclips! you have a wonderful channel, looking forward to the future for you. Bless your family
You expressed so beautifully how I feel about clay. I started my clay journey just nine months ago but it has become such a part of me that I find so much peace when I’m working with pots. Thank you for sharing your story and so eloquently put into words how so many of us potters feel about touching clay ❤
Somehow your video popped up on my u tube and I was so excited when I saw Newburgh. I was born and raised in Newburgh and lived there until I moved to Florida. I am a handbuilder and am so fortunate to be a member of a pottery club in my subdivision which has 5 wheels and 4 kilns. I never touched a piece of clay until I-moved here 15 years ago and it is such a huge part of my life. Your video was wonderful and I hope to see more!! Mary Waller Tarr
I just stumbled upon this video only to realize that this business is located a mere 30 minutes from me. My interest in pottery was sparked for the first time a few weeks ago. Since then, I’ve been pouring over RUclips videos and trying to absorb as much as I can. As a pianist, I’m marveled by the control, patience and hand eye coordination needed in order to be successful in this craft. I hope to visit soon.
You should also check out Shelby Sherritt’s channel, she does mostly slip casting but she has a gorgeous energy that makes me smile through the whole video every time
I stumbled on this video looking for a demonstration for class tonight. David, this video is so good. Wish I had taken one of your workshops when you were in the city. Thanks for sharing your story.
Yes! This is the love of being a potter!
Very well said.
great video bro!
love your passion for the craft.
i feel pretty similar here.
thank you for sharing.
I never thought of clay as a recording of my movements, but that's pretty cool.
Hey Frank, great video! Did you notice though? You probably weren't aware but you have unwittingly written his wife out of the story in the description below the video by saying David is the owner. According to his own words David is co-owner with his wife, who even was the one with the idea for the project. I think they would love it if you corrected that and maybe even name her in the text.
When you had the tall cylinder and got the stick and pulled it out into the bowl for a second i thought oh no he’s wrecked it then it beautifully flared out into the bowl and my instant reaction was exclaiming “Woooah!!!!"
Beautiful and inspiring. I was amazed by seeing the process of making these objects in action. David’s words really captured what it means to be skilled. Reminded me of the focus on masters in Tao Ruspoli’s Being in the World.
He really seems like a good dude. Nice work too
Well said.
And than the creation never came to be... or come back as something else.
cool vid
Thank you! More to come!
I notices you have your wheel on the counter ? It would work better for me to stand than sit and bending over
