    This is why I love Michael. He doesn't try "owning the libs" with quick quips and disingenuous listening. He takes commentary and criticism very seriously and gives people the answers they deserve. I'm also very pleased with the audience members and the people who came up to ask questions. Their interactions with Michael were wonderful, from the lighthearted distant cousin to the more thoughtful disagreements. Absolutely amazing talk and Q&A. I hope one day to be able to attend one myself!

    • @sivad1025

      I absolutely hate how Michael answers questions lol He always goes into roundabout spiels that don't directly answer what's being asked
      The one guy is asking why Christianity is better than Islam, particularly in the context of conquest. The right answer is that Islam forces conversion by the sword, that Muhammad massacred Jews and pagans for not believing, that Muhammad encouraged his followers to rape slaves, that Muhammad literally compared women to animals and treated them that way, telling his followers to beat their wives. Not to mention the fact that Muhammad was a pedo who slept with his 9 year old, prepubescent wife and allowed his followers to mary the young girls they kidnap in conquest.
      Michael must be too afraid of losing Muslim followers to avoid giving the straight answer

      1.. Thomas Jefferson although he had slaves he inherited them. He was born into a system that he hated and tried to change. He tried to change the laws so he could free his slaves in 1769 and was voted down by the Crown. He put an anti slavery paragraph in the original Declaration of Independence and SC and Georgia threatened to walk if he didn't remove it. There were manumission laws on the books that made it impossible to free his slaves plus his debt. Jefferson could have sold half of his slaves to pay off however didn't because it would have meant breaking up families. Jefferson openly said he was for emancipation. His actions as President prove this too. The left attacks Jefferson because if you want good little Marxist zombie slaves you have to bring down the guy who wrote our rights are God given and natural rights and not from the state. Regardless the Founders set the foundation so we could end slavery and we did.
      2.Washington was a devout Christian. Was in church every week. His tomb has literally one of the most Christian scriptures on it . 'I am the resurrection and the life....' ya that one is central to our Faith. Two things can be true. He can be a Mason and a Christian. I meditate and take Yoga. I have been to a Buddhist temple and I am a Christian. Washington in his own words addressed your claim. The secularists always leave this out.
      3. Jefferson Bible. If you read it there is still mention of Miracles. He put scripture he felt would guide them morally while they worked and wanted it all in one place for easy access. It had nothing to do with the way the left tries to frame it for their agenda of no morality or God in anything.
      3. John Adams is questionable. He is also quoted for saying "We have no King but Jesus"
      4.Jefferson in a personal letter says "I am a Christian"
      5. There are more founders than Washington, Adams, Jefferson etc. Sam Adams, Father of the Revolution is a Christian and many other signers of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were Christian.

    Fun fact: Michael uses both "Lakota" and "Sioux" to describe the tribe in question. "Lakota" means "the people/human beings," it is the name the tribe gave itself. "Sioux" means "little snakes" or "enemies" and was the name given to the Lakota by other tribes whose misfortune it was to cross their path. This same pattern repeated itself with many of the NA tribes, and reflects the attitudes that come with primitive tribalism. "We're human beings. Those guys on the other side of the river? Meh, not so much."
    Tribalism lends itself poorly to civilizational advancement. The tribes tend to live in isolation from one another and what little contact that takes place between them is typically hostile in nature. As a direct result, tribal societies have historically been the most vulnerable to conquest and enslavement.
    Those who agitate for decolonization would do well to be careful what they wish for. Decolonization has frequently proved to be rather hard on the decolonized, as was the case in Zimbabwe, Uganda, Somalia, etc. It is a project which can easily lead to a devolution back to the Stone Age.

    The separation of Church and State argument is a tired, old one. The irony is when Jefferson wrote about the "wall of separation" he was writing to a group of Danbury ministers explaining how the constitution would protect the churches FROM the government. The ministers had written Jefferson with their fears that this new government would be a cudgel against the churches. The original letters are all available. It's amazing to me how people will take that one line and completely flip it to mean the opposite of what Jefferson meant. It's honestly evil.

Somalia went with a combination of all 3 of the ideologies I just mentioned and experienced the worst humanitarian crisis in recent decades. Coincidence? I think not. This was one of my favorite presentations by Michael Knowles. The last question was a very legitimate one. The Founding Fathers may have been geniuses but we can still criticize where they got it wrong. However, the focus of the gentleman on slavery is not where I would place the focus on. Slavery was a way of life in their time and even Adams wrote slavery as a right in his draft of the Massachusetts state constitution. The bigger concerns for me were that many of them were freemasons and that meant that they generally did not believe in established religions. Neither Adams nor Jefferson believed in established religions. Of the big six, Madison was the one who believed most in an established religion but was also the most adamant about the first amendment prohibiting an established religion. I am more worried about their belief in no established religions than I am in the fact that they owned slaves. Slavery was bad but it damaged the body while the errors of beliefs in no miracles and no established religion damage the soul. I am more concerned over that than slavery.

      1. Thomas Jefferson although he had slaves he inherited.

    Thomas Jefferson was a Christian This is from the letter Jefferson sent Thomas Jefferson Grotjan:
    "Your affectionate mother requests that I would address to you, as a namesake, something which might have a favorable influence on the course of life you have to run. Few words are necessary, with good dispositions on your part. Adore God; reverence and cherish your parents; love your neighbor as yourself, and your country more than life. Be just; be true; murmur not at the ways of Providence-and the life into which you have entered will be one of eternal and ineffable bliss. And if to the dead it is permitted to care for the things of this world, every action of your life will be under my regard. Farewell.[iii]"
    Jefferson clearly was a Christian. This is hardly the writings of a diest.

    During our lunch break at work last night,..... I work nights..... we were talking about this religion/ morality subject in modern society.
    Here in England, we have a massive issue with the way our people behave. People are unbelievably selfish, nobody cares about anything or anyone else, theft and violent crime is out of control, anti social behaviour is prevalent in all towns and cities and we're heading towards a complete breakdown. Why is this happening?
    Well, I have a theory..........
    At this present time, church attendance is at an all time low, however........throughout history, the church and religion has played a huge part in setting morals and standards.
    As the influence of the church has pretty much gone, it's all gone t*ts up. I don't like organised religion as I think it brainwashes people and controls the poorly educated masses, however........ the less religion is in society, and the worse people become

    Was Christianity not the woke movement of Ancient Rome?

    • @Hoe-numan5
      @Hoe-numan5 9 месяцев назад +1

      How was Christianity woke in Ancient Rome.
      In general, Christians in ancient Rome were very law-abiding citizens, as their religious teachings emphasized respect for authority and adherence to civil laws. However, some conflicts did arose due to the Roman authorities' demands for emperor worship, which Christians considered a violation of their monotheistic beliefs. This occasionally led to persecution of Christians for refusing to participate in certain imperial rituals but Despite these tensions, many Christians sought to coexist peacefully within the Roman legal framework, and the majority of them were very law-abiding citizens in their daily lives.

    • @reubenoakley5887
      @reubenoakley5887 5 месяцев назад

      In short, not all change is good.
      The word "woke" today is used in reference to a specific set of ideas that directly contradict Christian teaching. Ideas like modern gender theory, the right to abortion, critical race theory, and so on.
      If you want to replace the word "woke" in your question with "new" then perhaps you would be correct. However, it would then be much easier to see how ridiculous it is to associate ideas that were new 2000 years ago with ideas that are new today based purely on the fact that at one time, they were both novel. Christianity is good and true and beautiful. The modern concept of wokeness is not.

    • @HelloThere.....
      @HelloThere..... Месяц назад

      No, because wokeism has a very particular ideology and definition.
      What your asking is "wasn't Christianity the rebellious movement of Ancient Rome" in which case, yes, but that's not wokeism.
      Wokeism is the idea that history can be defined as a series of class struggles between oppressor and oppressed, fundamentally driven by power and peoples lust for it, and that the oppressor groups take the place of the majority or status quo, typically defined by racial majorities like white people, or majorities in positions of political power like men. You therefore can ascribe social credit, victimhood status, and oppressor status to people based on their group identity. For instance, you can define marriage as a power struggle between the tyrannical man and slave wife, and therefore can ascribe guilt to all men, husbands, and fathers, and victimhood status and therefore right to equity to women, wives, and mothers.

      That's true, but at this point the most basic premises of humanity are under attack. Even skipping the man and woman stuff as important as it is, look at the war in Israel. Americans are saying what was done against them was justified?!? Even if you 100% agree that they are the oppressors and the Gazans are victims, they didn't attack a military base on the border or raid a grocery store to feed their families. How do you justify burning babies and violating women? We've lost our most basic principles, morality is now a relative thing and it comes from the generations raised without religion. That question about secular morality? In recent weeks we've finally gotten the definitive answer, and that's the one thing that makes me scared.

    In the first place, the original intent of "conquest" implies "capture of political rule" and is not about gaining ownership of land over which the previous ruler governed. In other words, one does not own the land when he conquers the throne he succeeds to what belonged to the previous ruler-political authority. This theory of "ownership of land by conquest" was a theory first put out by ambitious British capitalists. It appears that the American government driven by capitalist ideals was even more forceful (and cruel) w.r.t land ownership than was their predecessor.
    Next, using religious beliefs to qualify which conquest is justified amounts to narrow-mindedness. Dogmatic followers of religion, who strive to represent their own particular religion as greater than other religions are unquestionably ignorant. Ignorant (unenlightened) followers of a religion, trying to glorify their religion as supreme over other religions instead belittle their Master (Guru, Messiah) through their bigotry, intolerance, hate, inquisitions, crusades, and religious wars.
    All religious institutions, irrespective of how noble their initial ideals, attract ill repute as soon as they function as theocracies, using man-made theological doctrines and arguments to justify and defend even their unholy acts.
