It's always weird to see John on these type of shows cause it feels like watching my friend on tv. I've been watching the Vlogbrothers since like year 2 so they feel like real friends.
Yeah I mean nothing against the interviewer, he is just doing his job, but I like this comment because like that's something I thought subconsciously but your comment made me realize it and put it into words!
I appreciated this interviewer. I've seen a few people really bear into John and be like, "what's that like?" and ask all these really invasive questions about his OCD, which seems to be particularly troublesome for a person who has these invasive thought spirals. This man did no such thing, and was able to get John talking a bit about things that are important to him. Good job, Good Morning America. Thank you.
"So many young women are struggling with anxiety" "I think a lot of people have anxiety-" You can just see John like 'did this guy really just pick a gender that anxiety affects?'
When I heard this I just thought about how the interviewer made out anxiety and OCD to be one and the same thing, just an umbrella of 'mental illness' with words that can be used interchangeably.
I was so confused like the whole book about the tittle and then I learned how it all connected and I really loved how he did that. I would definitely recommend it to everyone whether you can relate or not. It just over all shows people what is like to live like that. Its a great book and keeps you hooked I just couldn't stop reading it!!
It is so inspiring to see people really care about their audience and very sincerely want to make people feel less lonely. I love how John really emphasised that in this interview as well! Genuinely so lovely to see.
Had to look up this interview after reading the book. Man, what a great read. I can't totally empathize with Aza's condition, but I do understand what she means by the "thought spirals" or the gyre as Davis calls it. Such a deep read, amazing John. On a mission to read every John Green book!
You guys forgot Katherines and Will Greyson, Will Greyson. Also I second the feeling of John/Hank being on Tv being weird because they feel like friends. Does anyone else also feel weird whenever Nerdfighteria is talked about as if it only includes teenagers?
singinwithceline I was the person who asked the question on the air, 23 and not teens. Half of the nerdfighter/tuataria audience were older than 20. The producer didn’t understand the community. Thinking it was just fans of John, which makes me excited for “An Absolutely Remarkable Thing”
Yay! Thank you for putting this online. This book is so important. I read it in under 2 days which is a record for me. Thank you, John, for everything you do.
I finished the book Turtles all the way down yesterday and it was amazing! I have obsessive compulsive disorder so I relate. It was a really good book! I love it! John Green is a really good writer.
First of all - "Two RUclips Sites" *cringe* they're channels. RUclips Channels.ALSO YAY JOHN GREEN. And I love how no one ever mentions An Abundance of Katherines, like ever.
Emily C it’s such an incredible book, but it’s sadly just not as popular as TFIOS, Paper Towns, or Looking for Alaska. Probably because the first two have movies and the third is a little controversial. But An Abundance of Katherines is still an amazing book.
>"Everyone in the audience is walking away with a free copy of John Green's book!" *audience cheers, continuously* *John Green leans in* >>"Who's gonna pay for that...?" >"Shhh... just let it happen"
I had to read this book for my reading class this year and I wasn’t into it at first but then it became one of my favorite books and now I’m reading the fault in our stars. I’m starting to think that he’s one of my favorite writers :)
I like this guy! Never read one of his books, but I’ve just decided to read all of them! I watch his RUclips videos about history. They’re so good! And funny!
I think it's a good thing that this movie is out in people are raising more awareness for people who struggle overthinking with anxiety in mixed with post-traumatic stress disorder because I suffered with that to myself 😊
Turtles All the Way Down spoke to me like all of John Green's works always do, but I do wish there were worse parents in some of his novels. The saintliness of the parents he writes has always been hard for me to connect to.
I completed this book today that I had started yesterday. So you can figure out how really I was into this book and when I reached on the last page it was a like heart breaking bcoz there is no more pages ahead of that. BTW Aza is a great girl she tackled very well with her anxiety and Daisy is a great best friend like I also want a Daisy in my life who'll be always there for me no matter what.this was the 3rd book by John Green which I have read yet and I can surely say he never disappointed me ever. 💞
What is the genesis of the tilte of this book? I am intrigued as this phrase is attributed to Bertrand Russells' supposed exchange with an old woman about the origin of the Universe.
He connects the origins of the universe theory with that phrase "turtles all the way down " as it's never ending, just like the OCD thought spirals Aza Holmes has in the book.
Been having black scene issues this last week but not all the time. i bounce from vids i know work back to the Black screens seems to work most times. But seems like RUclips has a bug
Trigger warning: Thank you so much . I often ask what if what if what if . Thoughts , feelings, sensations become so loud for me . I feel like im constantly afraid that if i dont listen to the thoughts, something bad will happen . It's scary .
"So much in so many ways" What you say when you can't think of anything to say XD. Nerdfighteria probably did change John, but that guy might've been feeling a little too proud of himself.
I'm not OCD but I've had anxiety all my life. I just listened to John Green on 60 mins. Sounded interesting. Did a Google search. FIRST LINE "This is a young adult book"!! Really?! I'm 73, I was thinking finally I've found help.... But it's a young adult book.......hummm..What dork wrote that copy?? John are you getting people to review this book based on young adults?? Did I mention I've suffered with anxiety all my life?? I'm a black sheep in my family. The rumor is, I have a mental illness. I'm far from a young adult John. Now I really have an anxiety attack. We just don't matter. Not even to John. .....
He writes novels, not phycology self help books, and they are considered YA because they feature young characters. You don’t have to be young to read it. But also, maybe give things a chance for yourself to understand them beyond just literally the “first line on google”. Read it for yourself to find out if it’s for you.
We made a short film of this book!! Watch it at our channel and let us know what you think! We're just college kids who love the book but we hope you enjoy it :)
It's so strange seeing John without jump cuts.
Not as strange as my internet habits.
You ever hear of 'scripting'? That's where you write your own life. It's pretty hardcore.
It's always weird to see John on these type of shows cause it feels like watching my friend on tv. I've been watching the Vlogbrothers since like year 2 so they feel like real friends.
Also the interviewer thinks of John as an author first. I don't know if anyone else agrees: but he is a RUclipsr first to for me.
His voice also sounds so different, cause I guess he's just not in the comfort of his home and idk I prefer him being comfortable.
Same!
I totally agree with all these comments!! I feel the same way.
Agreed!
When you have someone as genuine as John next to the TV studio hosts you really notice how fake all of it is.

ikr
Ah, give him a break. He's not a Nerdfighter, just someone doing his job, interviewing an author.
Yeah I mean nothing against the interviewer, he is just doing his job, but I like this comment because like that's something I thought subconsciously but your comment made me realize it and put it into words!
that was my exact thought, and I didn't know how to phrase it so that people don't like attack me, but yes very well spoken
Geez I was so proud to be a part of this segment!!! DFTBA!

I loved your question!

Lets talk about the seamless way he pivoted the gendered comment about "girls with anxiety"
Chloe Carroll cause he's a genius.

"The King of Young-Adult Novels" Darn right!
Elizabeth Smith he is also a favorite among some not so young adults. I'm 39 and I love his books.
Reall? The King? He wrote 4 books before releasing this one. 4 books doesn't make you the king of anything.
Quality over quantity my dude
Marie B I'm 30 & I love some of his books also he is one of my favorite Ya authors of all-time!
I love how John was able to redirect words like “suffer” “struggle” and “confession” and talk in a matter of fact way that took away stigma.
Really nice book. Almost never read books in one day, but this one is definitely a must-read
how's the ending i mean is it sad or happy?
@@lunajsu sad
@@elielly2528 yeh soon after i asked that i finished the book. was gr8.
I suffered from clinical depression and anxiety, and this book really helped me 💜
King of the Young Adult novels-John Green is much too humble to accept that title, even though I'm inclined to agree with it.
I was so confused like the whole book about the tittle and then I learned how it all connected and I really loved how he did that. I would definitely recommend it to everyone whether you can relate or not. It just over all shows people what is like to live like that. Seeing John in such videos is like seeing a friend talking to a parent or a teacher.
You're 3 seconds over, I demand punishment!

This guy is my adult history teacher!! Crash course History is an amazing educational series, I was totally hooked on them!!
You guys forgot Katherines and Will Greyson, Will Greyson. Also I second the feeling of John/Hank being on Tv being weird because they feel like friends. Does anyone else also feel weird whenever Nerdfighteria is talked about as if it only includes teenagers?
to be fair: Katherines is pictured and he had a co-author for Will Greyson
I felt weird about that too. I was 19 when I became a Nerdfighter. So I was a young adult, but an adult nonetheless.
singinwithceline I was the person who asked the question on the air, 23 and not teens. Half of the nerdfighter/tuataria audience were older than 20. The producer didn’t understand the community. Thinking it was just fans of John, which makes me excited for “An Absolutely Remarkable Thing”
Grayson* sorry
My book just arrived in the mail. I'm so happy. I'll happily pass it along to another fan once I'm done reading.
Very well spoken
"No one ever says goodbye unless they want to see you again."

Love him! My book just arrived yesterday (a bit later since we're in Europe), it's A-mazing!!!!
“RUclips Sites”???
Could you be anymore out of touch?
sites.... channels...accounts: who cares?? Just a slip of the tongue, not in the same league as inventing concepts such as "the interwebs", lol.

"Hearing from people in youtube comments is helpful"
HAHAHAHA good one John
Paul Dee On his channel it really is helpful, because the community isn't nearly as toxic as the rest of RUclips.
i forget sometimes that not all comment sections are as nice as nerdfighters are.
The culture of the comments is a reflection of the content of the channel and the character of the creator.
@@curtishammer748 i’m late to the party but very true 👏🏿

So many Tuataria shirts
Emily Caballero helllllll yeah
It's tuatara..😂😂
+melina vassilopoulou Tuataria is the name of a community that built up around a Scavenge Hunt that John set up.

John Green is the GOAT

Isn’t this that dude that taught me history a few years ago?
I think he deserved more time in this show I mean what could be more interesting than an interview like that?
You got me. I see John Green, I clicky.
What is the genesis of the tilte of this book? I am intrigued as this phrase is attributed to Bertrand Russells' supposed exchange with an old woman about the origin of the Universe.

I feel like the interviewer spoke no where near the amount of e;eloquence that John does
George also wrote a book. Yes he did.
so funny to get this recommendation a little more than a week before the movie comes out 😭
I like how whenever John shows up on the news they always gloss over Hanks existence
I just finished the book today and I loved it
Is Looking for Alaska being made into a film?

I read the whole book and its amazinggggg
i loved this book i felt so understood cos i have anxiety as well
Ok but what's the theme? I have to write a theme essay on this book and I don't KNOW WHAT THE THEME IS! Please help
Does anyone else hate that John green is more known by fault in our stars rather than looking for Alaska
Does he connect with a significant other with whom he made children? (I'm assuming that's how he has them)
was it implied in the video that he does not connect with a significant other?
Do you mean The Yeti?? (His wife???)
yay, i can now read the words
I want a free copy too...
I hope John writes a book about Christianity one day.
Yo. I just found out the crash course guy is the author the fault in our stars 😮
WHY I LOVE THIS MAN

Aah I feel so happy for those Nerdfighter!!
This video was longer than 4 minutes- punishment time!
Poor "An abundance of Katherines" , always getting stitched up in John Green recaps
So awesome
Wasn't this the title of a Sturgill Simpson song ?
Hank Green calls YT cmt sections "helpful". There is the story rite there.
Jaii Raph Visit his channel sometime. You might be surprised.
Idk, i dont like "surprises". I might learn something.

Such a nice guy.
This video is four seconds too long. 😉

John needs a good public relations person, and maybe a master's in psychology.
Broke the 4 minute rule.
