- Australia’s track record is appalling when it comes to saving our unique wildlife.
For some animals there is hope, but hundreds of species are at risk of being wiped out.
There are more than 500 animals on Australia’s threatened species, like the eastern quoll. It’s endangered, but a mission to save it is underway.
Stephanie March investigates.

heartbreaking as it is, nature can be a heartless old broad, she expects a species to adapt or die to new circumstances, but when you throw humanity into the mix that's a hell of a big ask of any species.
Just need to do national cat cull. Cats must be left inside or in cat cage outside.
Good Job! Love & thanks from Bangladesh
Beautiful animals.
If they cant survive on the mainland , woudnt the logical thing be to keep them in Tasamia. ?
Because as we saw: bushfires ripping through mean the only place a species is found could mean an extinction. And they have a role to play in the mainland ecology too.
I don't think it helps that they don't seem to care about spotlights exposing them, or that they hang out in open fields. I hope they figure out how to survive tho, they're very cute.
Australia has the most animal's lover nation in the world
Why does it feel that bothering with any species in decline is pissing into the wind? Conservation is gonna be tough in the future with war, mass climate migration and nothing to eat. Go Oz!
Are they good to eat?
