BetterHelp does not care about you, do not give them your information or speak to their therapists, they will use your info and your words maliciously. Their own employees speak about underqualified "therapists", poor working conditions, and misuse of private information regarding sessions. They have been involved in multiple lawsuits. The content creators have the power to push them off of this platform, by not taking sponsorships from them.
This is the rare correct response I've seen on these. Thank you.

@@trapouthendrix1087 Yea, that makes sense, if true. I don't want to demonize Daniel here, I just hope in the coming months that we see no more of their sponsorships. I'm willing to give Daniel Thrasher the benefit of the doubt, but that goodwill will only last so long.
@@atomskpk6992 They have genuinely helped people, but they don't adhere to HIPPA protocol the way they should. They also don't treat their therapists nearly as well as other online therapy platforms with better security. That's partly why so many of their therapists are less qualified. Many of the good ones go elsewhere.
I definitely don't want to demonize any creator who has been promoting them since their individual experiences are still valid and, as has been mentioned, they could be under contracts. But I'm glad someone is mentioning the downsides.

would like to say that better help is, mostly, a scam now. There's a few studies and videos and it and I'd also like to say no hate to Daniel or any other creator that accepts sponsors, they're incredibly busy and usually can't check the validity of sponsors.

Real quick--I know I've said this a couple times now...
Can you drop some links/citations? Because as a physician I've actually read the deposition for the FB release of information, and as far as I know that advertising flaw was the only thing actually proven against BH. It's important to cite sources when making serious accusations.
For those wondering, the advertising deposition was that BH gave email addresses of possible patients to FB ads for ad targeting. This was considered a breach of privacy because while normally it's totally legal for a company to do that, in this case the targeting implied mental health diagnoses of the people associated with the email addresses.
That was the federal release that I received in my inbox as a physician. I was not advised of any other ethical breaches. I further actually read internal documentation from BH (from their aff program) fully complying with the court order and specifying that affiliates may not share certain information.
So. I'd like to further get some data on your sources, as mine don't back up a lot of what many people are saying. To get their internal communications, you just have to sign up for their aff program (fairly easy), and to get the medical deposition data you can go to the FTC website directly (best source, better than the one I personally used).
So those are my sources. I think it's important to be honest and transparent, and not just repeat reddit statements, as these are peoples' livelihoods and people have been truly helped by some of these therapists, who are much cheaper than insurance for those who don't qualify for OpenPathCollective (my preferred recommendation).
So yeah. Let's stick to things that have been actually proven so we can honestly pressure these companies to improve. Claiming malpractice and scam when the reality is a HIPAA breach through flawed advertising is a bit disingenuous.

Even when it wasn't a scam it was an incredibly unethical business. I wish creators would at least do a cursory look into what they're sponsoring, this is literally their whole job.

So it may actually be a scam that takes all of your data and has subpar therapists, but if the therapist he got _was_ good, and his experience _has_ been positive, can you really blame him for taking the sponsorship?

Tbh better help is about the only online therapy session ive heard of (no research) and coming from like 7-8 years of person to person therapy idk how it could be too different if its garunteed to be with a professional at least. Even if better help sucks I FULLY support you or whoever going to therapy even if they think its dumb. A sane outsiders perspective can be a real help sometimes when you work with the general public..... all im sayin

@@Frappuccino2124 A regular therapist doesn't sell all your info to corporations. The biggest scandal from Better Help is that they sold patient info, including diagnoses and survey info, which is super illegal.

@@freddykabuffke461 They almost definitely don't, or at least didn't when they signed the contracts. At least with Daniel, he says in all of his ads that he got help through BetterHelp, so I assume he had good therapy through them and assumes that the experience is universal.

Thanks, appreciate it. I feel like this company's wrongdoings are so well-known by now that I don't understand why creators keep accepting their sponsorship deals. I get contracts (in which apparently some creators are stuck), but once that's done you should drop them like a hot potato. They're not a company you want to associate your brand/name with.

It has been proven multiple times the scam like practises they have and the innumerable issues people have with the platform.
And they still try to call it affordable when it costs more then triple the normal amount a therapist charges.

Ads are a contract thing :) If the promoter (youtuber) signed a contract with a company for a certain time period/number of ads and was paid for it, said youtuber legally has to make those ads :( Lets just keep that in mind for Daniel bc we don't know what contracts he's under!
As horrible as better help is, it’s quite fitting that therapy is the ad because now I need it.
This makes me think of that scene in Neverending Story, where he looks into the mirror that shows a person's true self. It was (and is still) really thought-provoking, because would you want to see who your true self is, when it could be virtually anything?
This is peak marketing. Daniel corrupts our mind to the greatest extent possible to human ability, then offers us betterhelp services to undo the effects of his content. Peak marketing.
