Some are saying Texas isn't as bad with gun deaths as Chicago. Chicago has a small portion of the city where gangs hang out and where most of the shootings take place, fairly easy to avoid this area if you don't live there. Texas is huge and open carry is everywhere. Triggered people, road rage, domestic violence, mental health issues are a part of every society, unfortunately, but allowing everyone to strap on a gun, is insane, and Texas is dying proof of this insanity. It has the most mass shootings by far. Seems like moving there is like moving from the frying pan into the fire.
Check out the FBI stats on gun murders per capita. Other than Alaska and Montana, it's all southern red states at the top of the list. Illinois is not as dangerous overall as these rural red states are.
Yeah I live in Chicago, and it is a pretty steep process to try and buy a gun. You don't just see guns in walmart like you might in other parts of Illinois. Sure we have gang related shootings, but I never have a worry in the world about mass shootings or seeing anyone open carry. Texas needs to truly change.

Uvalde Police Dept's wrong decision is the best reason to pass useful, effective gun laws to keep guns out of the hands of people that should never own them! Police and school staff are only human and therefore subject to making mistakes-- like not entering the school right away or failing to keep a door locked. If we take measures to prevent this from happening in the first place, then we remove the possibility for human error in these terrible situations.

Uvalde is kind of a sleepy town, rural, with low population. I never would have expected something like this there, but I have to change my thinking. I thought there was more mental illnesses in big cities where people are constantly moving and it’s harder to meet people. Where there is more road rage due to traffic pile ups and competition for jobs. Where it’s expensive to find a descent place to live, but abuse and mental illness is everywhere. Wait till Abbott forces r@or victims to carry babies to term or forces mothers who know they are carrying a baby who is not compatible with life to carry babies to term have to lose income for maternity leave and for the birth of a baby that was stillborn or lived a couple hours. Some women cherish every moment and more power to them, but others cannot handle the heartache due to past traumas and may not be able to afford the time off work to recouperate (not even teachers get paid maternity leave in TX). I also wonder if more men will likely murder the women /girls they didn’t mean to impregnate…they already do it (murder the girl when they don’t want her to have his baby, but now there’s no choice for the poor).
