Wow the Pcola hasn't change much. I was at the NAS from May 2014 - December 2014, the first 3 months at the NACCS school house when I went to Aircrew Candidate School and the last 4 months at the GW Barracks for AWF A-school. Fast forward 7 years later I am now a commissioned officer in the Army. Compared to all the Army posts I'd been assigned Pensacola was not bad at all. I missed the berthing accommodations and the Navy had the better DFACs, spending too much time in the field sucks lmao.

I have a few buddy's of mine in USMC who were stationed up there for a little while, they have all said great things about Pcola. And they even said that the environment they were apart of motivated them to go farther in their careers, 1 is now commissioned, and a member of MATSG-21. While the other one later transferred to the Navy and joined Navy's fire service as a fire inspector at NAS. And assisted in the recovery and response during the Terror attack.

But it will pay off dividends if you choose to make Aviation a lifetime career. Such as, your military career, and civilian career when ever you get out! ❤️ Best of luck to you!

@@bridger6101 You are going to have so much downtime while you’re in the school house! Your school is going to be extremely long, hence, the five-year aviation contract. I would definitely recommend you to do the following: 1. Get as many MCI’s done as you can 2. Complete the MCI: “Leading Marines,” if you do not have that one complete, you cannot get promoted to E3/ Lance Corporal 3. Start volunteering whenever you can, make sure to get some type of proof of documentation, and this will translate into a LOA (letter of appreciation) in the usmc. Volunteering hours help you get promoted. 4. Start reading books from the commandants reading list, and complete as many book reports as you can, they can be as short as 1 page. 5. Make sure you stay physically fit, look up the requirements when it comes to the PFT and CFT. And also make sure you stay within your weight standards for your height 6. Make sure you take good notes, and keep all of the material that you will receive in the school house, this will help you out when you hit the fleet. 7. If you’re interested in taking online college courses, I would recommend using your tuition assistance, and taking one class, if you’re able to! Those are all of the tips and advice I have for now! ❤️

So NAS Pensacola, FL is a Navy base and it’s where the Aviation School house is! Yes, Pensacola does indeed have really nice barracks, but it’s just for your MOS school only! You’ll typically be stationed here, during your schooling, typically lasting 4-8 months, depending on what your MOS is!! You will not be there for the entirety of your contract; just only for your MOS school! Note: Fuesha, I am pretty sure you’ve already checked into your unit/ hit the fleet. I wanted to comment back, just in case it helps someone! :)
I love Pensacola. I was in the Lincoln Barracks in NAS Pensacola. From there I was sent to NS Everett and NS Bremerton, Washington. I am no longer in the Navy.
YES!!! I wasn’t allowed to leave the base at all, but I might have anyway... 😉 Also, port side, the beach, the gym, the church, and literally everything on base was closed except the NEX and the chow hall. It was miserable, especially with no gym access, but we made it work! 💪🏼
It really depends what level you’ll be learning in aviation. Such as Avionics/ Ordnance/ Air Crew etc. What is your current MOS code? For example, when I checked into Pensacola, my MOS code was 6300 for Avionics. All the Marines and sailors that fell under the 6300 MOS code would have class from 0800-1400 typically. Every single morning, your specific class would meet up for accountability around 0730; your class leader would make sure everyone was accounted for, and then y’all would usually walk to class together. Your lunch is usually 1 to 2 hours long. Some days you would get off early depending who your instructor is! Hope this helps! :)
Wait!!! Hold up!!! 😂👏🏼 I just want you to know that, typical Marine barracks do NOT look like this all the time! This is a school house in Pensacola, Florida for Aviation Marines! These barracks are relatively new! These barracks are honestly the nicest barracks the Marine Corps has! 🤣👏🏼 I have two navy girlfriends currently stationed in Norfolk Virginia, and they have a whole ass living room, a TV, a full-size kitchen with a fridge, a stove, and a sink. Soooo, Navy definitely got us beat! 🤣👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I bought my Xbox while I was in A-School. Remember: You graduate from bootcamp, you get 10 days of leave, report to MCT, then immediately report to your A-school. I wouldn’t recommend taking your Xbox/laptop/gaming console to MCT. I remember a lot of people would leave their wall lockers unlocked, and people would steal other peoples belongings all of the time.

Pcola is Deff a solid location for A and C schools. I was on the Corry side so yall at NAS were lucky lol. I was at Corry Oct 14-May15
