I have loved this song from the time I was five years old. I am a huge Muppet fan! Music like this is simply incredible! Thank you Jim Henson, for the beautiful legacy you left us!
"The First Time It Happens" was written for _The Great Muppet Caper._ Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy sing it at The Dubonnet Club as they dance together, starting as a slow production number and eventually becoming more upbeat. Footage from this sequence appeared in _The Muppets Go to the Movies._ Kermit and Miss Piggy also performed the song at the Academy Awards show in 1982, when it was nominated for Best Song. It lost to "Arthur's Theme (The Best That You Can Do)" from "Arthur". The song was later used over a montage of Miss Piggy clips in _The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years,_ and the orchestra played an instrumental version of the song as Miss Piggy made her entrance.
i love the movie " the great muppet Caper". when fozzie says after he take a sip of his drink, '' you know you put enough sugar in this thing it taste just like ginger ale".. lol
LM*O I never get tired of that line that Fozzie just said to the customer who was seen sitting at a table behind him, Gonzo, Kermit and Miss Piggy at The Dubonnet Club.
This song from The Great Muppet Caper rocks big time. I fantasize about ballroom dancing to it with either Daniel Radcliffe or Tom Felton in our formal outfits. Isn't it awesome?
This brings back memories me and my friends saw this when it came out miss pggy was my girl when kermit fell in love with her she was tap dancing as was cracking up i still have this album this and the Muppets take Manhattan my other favorite song is couldnt we ride and when i had my daughter she saw both of these movies on dvd i still have now shes 35 years old😊😊
Here are the lyrics. I wish this was on Spotify 😢 [Verse 1: Miss Piggy, Choir] The first time you see her No bolt from the blue Just something so quiet That's waiting for you With no one to tell you Where you've got to go The first time it happens, you know [Verse 2: Kermit the Frog, Choir] The first time you see her No magical change No angels appearing No dreams to arrange Just warmer and colder Than springtime or snow The first time it happens, you know [Bridge: Choir] And so you fall And how complete it is And for each moment that it lasts How sweet it is [Verse 3: Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Both] The first time together How simple, how rare And just when you thought You'd forgot how to care And though you feel much more Than you'd dare to show The first time it happens, you know [Verse 4: Choir] The first time you see her No magical change No angels appearing No dreams to arrange Just warmer and colder Than springtime or snow The first time it happens, you know [Bridge: Choir] Ahh, ahh Ahh, ahh And just when you thought You'd forgot how to care For the first time For the first time [Outro: Choir] The first time it happens The moment it happens And suddenly there's a whole new world The first time it happens The first time it happens The first time it happens You know
I have 3 Muppet movies that were on Disney DVD. The Muppet Movie (1979) The Great Muppet Caper (1981) The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) On the 2005 DVD on Kermit’s 50th Anniversary. I got them a few months ago.
Is the muppets kid stuff no at least the first two movies weren't. This song proves although these movie are silly they treat the songs like they are a real musical and go all out. This doesn't even sound like a muppets song which Is something I love.
It's hard for me to say whether I like this score or The Muppet Movie's more. But have you noticed that TMM's songs sound a touch more 70s-pop-like, while TGMC's sound much more classic-movie-musical?
I heard a rumor that it's the opening track to Seth MacFarlane's brand new album due out this Friday. I did some research on the song title being used more than once in a big band song. Turns out there's only one with this title, and that's this. Correct me if I'm wrong after it comes out.
Nicky Holiday: But law and order is the last thing I want. Wait a minute... maybe I could turn this thing into my advantage. [looks into the camera] But how would I come up with an idea before the biggest caper of my career? [pause] Why am I asking you?
When I Am 18 I will Take My Truck To The Tatto Place They Will Put Dr Teeth And The Electric Mayhem On My Right Shoulder And Family Guy On My Left Shoulder too
The whole film has this great throwback to Golden Hollywood Musicals. Steppin Out with A Star- gives Fred Astaire vibes, The Water Ballet Sequence clearly Esther Williams Swim films,
Marla, Carla, and Darla are the three star models for Lady Holiday in _The Great Muppet Caper._ Fed up with their employer's imperious manner and sharp-tongued criticisms, the models are also Nicky Holiday's accomplices. During the climatic showdown at the Mallory Gallery, Animal seems particularly taken with their presence. Erica Creer as Marla Kate Howard as Carla ...and... Della Finch as Darla
That was The Muppet Movie (1979), The Great Muppet Caper (1981), and The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984). And don’t forget A Muppet Family Christmas (1987).

I know this song by heart and no wonder there was a reprise of it during the second half of the closing credits of The Great Muppet Caper.

LOL!!!! Good ol’ Fozzie Bear!
LM*O I never get tired of that line that Fozzie just said to the customer who was seen sitting at a table behind him, Gonzo, Kermit and Miss Piggy at The Dubonnet Club.
Hearing this took me right back to my childhood in a split second.
What a great song. Has a very La La Land feel to it.
Too bad this didn't win the 1981 Oscar for Best Original Song.
They deserved it over Christopher Cross' song.

This really has some Alan Menken Vibes to this song.
Close, but Joe Raposo (1937-1989) composed the music in this music.
"What A Great Number" - Kermit
A romantic song ❤️❤️❤️❤️💃🕺💏
Thank you so much. I've been looking all over for this song.
This brings back memories me and my friends saw this when it came out miss pggy was my girl when kermit fell in love with her she was tap dancing as was cracking up i still have this album this and the Muppets take Manhattan my other favorite song is couldnt we ride and when i had my daughter she saw both of these movies on dvd i still have now shes 35 years old😊😊
This song is so romantic
About missing Jim and Jane Henson, the same goes for one of their children, John.
Here are the lyrics. I wish this was on Spotify 😢
[Verse 1: Miss Piggy, Choir]
The first time you see her
No bolt from the blue
Just something so quiet
That's waiting for you
With no one to tell you
Where you've got to go
The first time it happens, you know
[Verse 2: Kermit the Frog, Choir]
The first time you see her
No magical change
No angels appearing
No dreams to arrange
Just warmer and colder
Than springtime or snow
The first time it happens, you know
[Bridge: Choir]
And so you fall
And how complete it is
And for each moment that it lasts
How sweet it is
[Verse 3: Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Both]
The first time together
How simple, how rare
And just when you thought
You'd forgot how to care
And though you feel much more
Than you'd dare to show
The first time it happens, you know
[Verse 4: Choir]
The first time you see her
No magical change
No angels appearing
No dreams to arrange
Just warmer and colder
Than springtime or snow
The first time it happens, you know
[Bridge: Choir]
Ahh, ahh
Ahh, ahh
And just when you thought
You'd forgot how to care
For the first time
For the first time
[Outro: Choir]
The first time it happens
The moment it happens
And suddenly there's a whole new world
The first time it happens
The first time it happens
The first time it happens
You know

R.I.P. John Henson, too.

+SEGASister dang
+Andrea Patane it's Jim not John
I love this song so much. I decided to use this song at the end of the end of the sequel comic Ferrerr’s Revenge.
Actually, Jim Henson was trying to sell the Muppets to Disney in the '90's but they didn't get them until 2004
I have 3 Muppet movies that were on Disney DVD.
The Muppet Movie (1979)
The Great Muppet Caper (1981)
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
On the 2005 DVD on Kermit’s 50th Anniversary. I got them a few months ago.
This is probably a great song to hear at Disneyland.
@@StephenLuke I have them too except Muppet Treasure Island.

+Kevin Falk right with that
Jim Henson seemed to settle on it being for adults *BUT* in a way that kids could like it too. They just weren't the primary demographic.
What a great number! 🐸
Not to mention that the Muppet movie Disney ended up making was pretty damn good, and the best one since Henson's death.
There One Of My Favorite Muppet Songs
I'm 😁 to hear that.

In my opinion, THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER was the best of the first three Muppet films and is it my imagination or is song a little emotional?
Sounds like a song from a Jerry Herman musical, I’m guessing that was the point
IT'S MY FAVOURTIE SONG
I have the piano music for this but I can't play it yet...yet.
I heard a rumor that it's the opening track to Seth MacFarlane's brand new album due out this Friday. I did some research on the song title being used more than once in a big band song. Turns out there's only one with this title, and that's this. Correct me if I'm wrong after it comes out.
I prefer Seths version tbh

Sounds like a 50's song
I don’t understand how a song from an 80s movie would sound so 50s.
@@SuperMarioJulian How can a song from the 80's remind us of the 50's 😏
Coz its got a 50 style to it.
